Beautiful memoirs about beautiful childhood. It looked for me a little too simplistic and ordinary from the very beginning, but the more a read, the more I was falling in love with this girl, and her awsome family, and their story overall. Apparent simplicity became more and more complicated as the child grew up, and eventually I learned from this book a lot of new things.

The most interesting aspect for me personally was the very idea of growing up in an intelligent family. Somehow it is very clear from this book how such kids become so smart and talented, how they live in such layers of cultural expiriences and interpersonal relationships which are completely unknown for “regular children.” And yes, the most painful and relevating for me was the chapter “Другие люди”: I felt shame and depression realizing that I would be a very representative “Other Person” for such bright and cheerful girls.

It was very pleasant also to look at photographs at the end of the books illustrating exactly those moments of the story which you liked the most. I loved how different each child looks and how their appearances perfectly match the author’s description of their behaviour and personalities. (Although I imagined the Mother in a very different way, I must say; she was the only one for whom I required internal re-adjustment.)

The author has a livejournal where she started to write these books initially: http://nina-georg-sh.livejournal.com — and this is another magic of today’s life.
