One of the treasures of my childhood. Fabulous story which interweaves real-world locations and people with a conceived-for-the-story historical event and statue which create the conflict for the story.

Excellent book for young people, with a good discussion of engineering principles and the nature of work and the workplace and ethics.

I read this for a book report while in grammar school. Loved it. One of the first books I couldn't put down except because of times constraints.

I found a copy of this book about 3 years ago at a thrift store and bought it for $1.00.

This was the 1st book I ever read. I was 10. It gave me a love for reading that carried me for the last 40 yrs. It was a book that took me on an adventure. Highly recommend it ..

A good Teen or Pre-Teen novel that can be enjoyed by adults as well. The copy I have is from 1971 and was passed down to me by my parents, I have read it to my children. Not especially fast passed but, fast enough that most kids will stay with it once they get into it.
