Here is a small (fits in hand) volume of verse devoted to a tomcat who styled himself a "Catsanova" of felines. This is rollicking good fun, as the author devotes the poetry to the main thirteen lady felines who took up much of this tom's life.
There's Elaine, who always seems to have too many kittens ('She always seemed pooped/and had whiskers that drooped/as if she'd been in the rain'). There's Cleo, a crazy little calico with multiple personalities, and Christine ('...so pure and pristine/she was half Persian/and had an aversion/to anything even the least unclean').
All of these tales are also part of Shaffer's larger tome, LIGHT AND DARK, which is actually easier to find than this little treasure. This is a rarity, good luck in your search, because this is worth it.
