I absolutely adored the first book of the Paradox series, The Angels Are Here, and naturally had to pick up the second one as soon as soon as it was available in the Amazon UK store. Progeny of Innocence was an even more amazing, wicked read than The Angels Are Here.

The novel begins with a brief account of the background story and is narrated by Juliette. Juliette is an old soul reborn in the body of a young girl, Grace. In the first book, Grace was just a girl, now she’s a 16-year-old teenager who’s plagued by visions she doesn’t understand even though she desperately tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to find out who Juliette really was and what exactly happened to her world. Grace never really got over her father’s death, so when she meets the new boy in town, Damon, he takes on a very important role in her life as her love interest and the one that makes her loss more bearable, along with Wade. But soon things start to get strange and it’s obvious there’s a killer on the loose, though it’s doubtable that he’s human. I could feel the spark between Grace and Damon, though I’m not yet sure whether he’s good or bad.

I liked Grace in the first book, but in this one she was even more likeable and had me rooting for her when the fallen angels (called Grigorians) came closer to finding her. I thought she came across as honest and responsible, just the way someone with her importance in the fate of heaven and earth should be. I liked that she’s become an adult now and that she understands the importance of what’s going on around her.

One of my favorite characters was Keyla, who is a secondary character and the bearer of magic of the ancient race, Bakhna Rakhna. There was some sort of mystery surrounding her and I can’t wait to find out what her story and role is in the ancient battle between the angel houses.

All in all, this was such an amazing, well-written read I thoroughly enjoyed and can only recommend. I’m astounded by the writer’s imagination, the rich writing and beautiful prose as well as the intrinsic plot. If you’re hesitating, get the sample first. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to put it down.

Patti Roberts weaves a wonderful tale of magick and love in her Paradox series. I was pulled in by an 11 year old Grace in the first book, The Angels are Here, who was shattered by the loss her father. Now she is a teen who must find a place in the human world to better understand the spirit world and how to deal with her visions of a young woman who comes from her own past life. Through Patti, you get to travel into the supernatural as fallen angels hunt for Grace, and she begins her journey in the bloom of her life as a young woman getting to know a boy named Damon, all rolled up with learning her way with dealing with spirit.

Patti keeps you on the edge of her seat with a very real as you see these fallen angels through her writing and feel Grace's emotions as they come to life through her words. I didn't want to put this book down as I was pulled into Grace's world, and I gave this book 5 stars as a must read!!

The Paradox Series continues in Progeny of Innocence. The second book in the young adult series by Patti Roberts takes off where the first book left off.

The ancient world is in the middle of an all out war. The fallen angels, the Grigorians, are fighting their angel brethren, the Burgardians, and things are only getting worse. Chaos is still rampant under Grigorian Lord Cerberus’, house; however he is last to notice as his wife, Pandora, and his brother Abaddon scheme against him.

The Grigorians are keen on a triumphant victory even if that means sacrificing whoever gets in their way.

Meanwhile, Temulun and Bakari, a servant and a guard in the royal house, must help the strange newcomer, Keyla, discover her heritage and master her abilities. The young girl might be the only way they can put an end to the Grigorians once and for all.

In modern day Australia, Grace has grown into a shy, quiet teenager who is about to turn 17. Her father’s death still weighs heavily on her mind and she struggles with it almost every day. Grace tries to hold it together and keep up the appearance of being a normal teenager but she feels anything but. Her visions have only continued to get worse and she's still not quite sure what they mean.

Some things in her life have been going well. Wade is still seeing her mother, and the Connors have taken in Zach, an orphan who quickly becomes like a brother to Grace.

Grace is also anxious to meet the right person and fall in love and the dashingly handsome Damon Draco seems like her prince charming. Sure, she has an odd flashback when she first meets him, but she is inexplicably drawn to him. For once in a long time, things are starting to look up. That is, until some of her neighbors and classmates begin to go missing; their bodies to be found later, mauled and mangled by what looks to be a vicious animal.

It is only a matter of time before the Grigorians catch up to Grace, but how long can she manage to hide if she doesn't even realize she's being hunted?

I enjoy this series mainly because it is a fresh take on the idea of angels and good versus evil. The plotline is very unique in that it's never been done before and yet it works so well.
Progeny of Innocence delves deeper into the ancient world and the lives of the Grigorian royal family. Roberts truly has a gift for writing that is evident from page one. I love it when can you read what an author's written and you almost feel like you're being transported to another world just by reading the words on a page.

There are a number of new characters introduced in the second book, including more Grigorians who are getting closer to finding Grace on earth during modern day. We're also introduced to Bakari, Temulun and Keyla. A trio who I have a feeling will play an intricate part for the battle for good in the future. Keyla is part of an ancient race of people called the Bakhna Rakhna who were almost killed off during The Great War. There are also some implications that Keyla can use magic, a skill that I am sure will be useful in the near future.

There is more attention on the secondary characters; including Angela, who along with Grace, is one of my favorite characters. Angela’s wit tends to add comedic relief to the storyline even if she doesn’t intend to.

Damon also caught my interest. I'm not entirely sure about his motives yet, but he seems to genuinely like Grace. I have a feeling that he and Grace's relationship will face some bumps further down the road especially as Grace begins to learn about who and what she is.

Some of my suspicions about Wade and a few of the other characters are also confirmed in the second book but I don’t want to give too much away. I really liked how Roberts handled his character. Too often I’ve read stories where the same situation didn’t work so well. I’m purposefully being vague since I’m trying really hard not to spoil the book.

Another thing that I enjoyed about this novel was Grace's relationships with the other characters; Wade, Zach and Angela in particular. There are a number of scenes between Grace and Wade that are so adorable and also remind me of the some kind of close relationship that Grace had with her father, Brian. Although he can never replace her father, Wade has become a vital part of Grace's life.

Zach plays the role of goofy but protective sibling well, but unlike siblings, he and Grace get a long a lot better than I ever did with my brother when we still lived under the same roof. Like Wade and Angela, Zach is also at the Connors to protect Grace and Kate. Also like Wade and Angela, Zach isn't completely human.

Angela has also become a close friend to Grace and they are almost like sisters. Grace doesn't hesitate to seek Angela's advice, particularly when it comes to boys.

Progeny of Innocence also has a lot more action and suspense than the first book. Between the "wild animals" that are attacking Grace's friends and a number of showdowns between the angels, there's enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and anxious to find out what will happen next.

Grace has done a lot of growing up both physically and mentally by the end of the the second book. She's lost a lot of the naviety that she held onto in Paradox:The Angels Are Here; both through her father's death and her interactions with the angels. She quickly has to come to terms with the rapid changes occuring in her life and she isn't so sure what to make of everything just yet.

In the third book, I think Grace will finally discover her purpose to the angels and their world and I plan on being there for the ride.

I am absolutely over the moon excited to be sharing my review for this new book in Patti's series Paradox The Angels Are Here. Paradox: Progeny of Innocence is probably the best book to start off your New Year with I kid you not. If you read my review for the first book you will know how much I loved it, but, I love the second book even more and I know you will too.

As the book opens we get a much more detailed and in depth feel for the evil Grigorians, the characters she has created are like nothing I have seen so far, for "The Bad Guys" characters even though they are evil, you just want to like them sometimes, Abandon is my favorite of them so far, I mean come on now who doesn't love a bad guy now and again and with his yellow eyes oh yummy yummy, he can look at me any day *blushing* and his brother Lord Cerberus who reins is very much oblivious to the fact that his own wife Pandora and his flesh and blood brother Abandon are in a scheme of their own together to get rid of Cerberus. The fallen angels (Grigorians) are fighting at any cost against any that get in the way, against the Burgardians.

Every time I read another book from Patti her imagination amazes me and the worlds and characters she has created are one of the most original stories I have had the privilege to read, as she introduces new characters the story evolves, Temulun, a servant and Bakari, a guard in the royal house are trying to help Keyla a newcomer, to discover the heritage, an ancient race of people called the Bakhna Rakhna, and abilities she has in hopes they can finally put an end to the Grigorians.

As the story continues to the present time, we catch up with Grace, Angela, Wade *sighs* oh Wade, ahem excuse me all for drooling over Wade :) Kate (Grace's Mom) and a few new friends have been introduced Joshua and Zach, and Damon. So I have to stop there and tell you all, *giggles* Patti has honored me with being a character in her book, I am none other than Wade's *sigh* wife, yup I am the big handsome hunky yummy Aussie's wife, now if you go onto Patti's website she has pics there of possible actors if her books ever get turned into a movie, O...M...G I am one lucky wife if that's who she gets to play Wade *sighs while drooling* thank you Patti :) that was my birthday present, how rockin a birthday present was that to be named a character in such an awesome series of books. Yay Me!!!

Ok back to reality now, so we catch up with Grace who is now sixteen and in high school and just as I loved Grace in the first book, I love her even more now, Patti has left no question from book one left unanswered and if anything expanded with sheer brilliance and ability to bring us right into not only Grace's world and her life but that of the Grigorians and the Burgardians. This book has left me breathless, really breathless, I waited so long to read this one, she has exceeded every expectation I had. I felt like I was right there in the story, few books are able to do that to me, but this one did, I could smell, hear, feel what everyone was doing, the book drew me right into it, I felt like I was able to be with Grace while she was growing up, and watching her bond with Wade grow, and her friendship with Angela get stronger as well, it was nice to see her mom getting back on her feet, I know how that is, it was hard watching my mom get back to herself when my dad had passed away.

Angela as always is another one of my favorite characters, she is ultimately there to protect and watch over Grace but also has become Grace's best friend, Angela has no sense of humor, everything she does and says is very matter a fact, but the way she comes out with things she just cracks me up, and poor Joshua has such a MAJOR HUGE crush on Angela, I hope in the next book Angela will see how much he likes her. Now Damon, oh Damon I haven't still even after finished reading made up my mind about him yet, I like him but yet very suspicious of him still, he makes you want to like him though, so I think I'll stay on the fence with him for now, but I also liked Riley, oh Riley I almost forgot about him, a new character as well, comes in as the pizza delivery guy, Riley he's a cutie and also likes Grace, wow Grace is having lots of boy issues in this one ;), but I would have to say one more character that I really did like a lot and one I hope I will see more of in the next book is Abe, Grace is babysitting one night and Abe is a little eight year-old dynamo, man he's got her back and then some he's just a little firecracker I just loved that kid, I can't say anymore than that or I'll give some stuff away. I had everything around me in my own surroundings tuned out and all I could hear was what the book was describing. Patti's talent how she describes everyone and everything is nothing short of amazing.

Now I can't go on too much more else I spoil this long awaited book for you, and I hate spoilers so I'm not going to go on too much more. I will only say this much more, this is a MUST READ and it's a huge honor for me to be able to review this amazing book for Patti. Patti and I met almost one year ago when she asked me not long after I started my blog to read and review her first book of the series, from that our friendship was born and has grown over this year, I not only recommend this book because she is a dear and wonderful friend, but I recommend this book because she is a talented Author who has done an incredible job creating a world and Beings I have come to love reading about and I can't wait for the next book to come out, I really hope she is writing very fast so I don't go into withdrawals lol. I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!!! Enjoy everyone!!

Last year I reviewed the first book “ "Paradox - Angels are Here"” by Patti Roberts, and I was lucky enough to be asked to review the second book her trilogy – Progeny of Innocence. I enjoyed the first book and was not prepared for what the author had in store for her readers next. This book was FANTASTIC! I was spell bound from the very first page. She packed one heck of a literary punch with this book and this second book far excided my expectations.

Progeny of Innocence starts off where the first book left off. we find ourselves once again listening to a story told by Juliette as we get out more about the Ancient world of Alatair which is home to the opposing forces of Angels known as Gregorian’s and Bulgarians, whose ancient battle for reign will play out in the New World known as Earth. It is here where we see Grace again, now a teenager and still trying to figure out who Juliette as her life begins to spin towards her true destiny.

Reminiscent of the first book, this novel has two distinct plotlines; the ancient world of Alatair and Grace’s Story. Some of my questions that I had from the first book are answered as the author delves deeper into the history of the Ancient World of Alatair. Patti Roberts blends a mixture of Aboriginal and Celtic myths into this book which much to my surprise works. It explains how each race came into being and why they are rising up to fight the threat of the Gregorian’s who have “fallen”. Though in my mind this storyline over shadow’s Grace’s story. Grace’s story is one of Innocence and becoming as she finds events beyond her control as those around her try to protect her from what Is about to come. My personal preference is the world of the “fallen’ but then I love a dark and twisted tale and the author does not disappoint. The story lines move much faster than the first book, as the foundations to the story has been set. I really enjoyed the buildup of tension throughout the book and as I finished the last page I wanted the next book in hand. You will be left hanging as the plots merge together and you know that the really story is about to begin.

As with the first book the line between main characters and supporting characters blur, each character brings something to the book and help move the plot line along. We see the supporting characters around Grace fleshed out more as the mystery of whom and how they came into being is revealed. We see new characters introduced that I am sure will play a pivotal role in the outcome of this trilogy. The author does a great job of bringing all the characters into play, as their stories are played out and move the story along to its conclusion. I still think Abaddon is my favorite character, he is evil corrupt and so very very interesting. There are many layers that we haven’t seen that I am sure will be revealed in time. Grace though being a bit older is still very much in the dark as to what is happening in the world around her, all is not as she thinks and just as she is on the verge of remembering those who have been sent to protect push her farther into the dark as if she is not yet ready to face her destiny.

The book is very well written and I feel that Patti Roberts outdoes herself with this story, and is such a talented writer which is much more evident in this book than the first. With the Kindle version priced at $2.99 this is a must read!

With that said I give this book 5 Stars! Progeny of Innocence is wonderfully intricate book that blends fantasy, myth and legends into a truly magical tale.
5 Stars!

An original and beautifully written story, Progeny of Innocence took the term 'rebirth' and 'souls' to a whole new level!

It was a bit hard for me to get into the story because until this day, I was still a bit confused by the concept of both the New World and the Ancient World. However, the series never failed to awe me with it's creativity, originality and vividness. Patti Roberts has a way with words and it left me breathless. I've read many kinds of books, encountered many kinds of mythical creatures and nail biting scenes, but Progeny of Innocence left me with such a deep impression because the writing was detailed and sophisticated. Trust me, Patti could definitely describe 'YA gore' and 'Viciousness'.

If you liked The Angels are here, then you will love Progeny of Innocence.

Grace is no longer an 8 year old girl who constantly grieves for her father and was going through a tough time, now she is a full grown teen who is haunted by visions that she herself could not comprehend and is completely unaware of her past and the dangers that she was about to face. I was introduced to a sweet, innocent Grace in The Angels Are Here and I fell in love with her almost immediately, but a teenage Grace was even more likable and easier to relate to.

I had always liked Grace for her good qualities, she was responsible, mature and independent, possessing the traits of a strong protagonist. However, it was a great change to see Grace transforms into an adolescent who is discovering love and most importantly, discovering herself. When Damon Draco 'barged' into her life, Grace finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, little did she know that they were actually lovers in the past and that a long time ago, Damon made a promise to Juliette, the soul which was reborn into Grace's body. But Damon was bad news, and Angela was keen on keeping them apart.

I adore the characters in the story, actually, it was more of I adore the 'souls' in the stories. It seems that every character in the story was an reincarnation of an old soul, and each of them played a vital part in the story. Each character was distinct and unique it was such a fun to read about them! And the evil characters portrayed was evil enough you could actually shudder.

But my favourite part of the book was actually the fighting scenes. Do you know the books where the fighting scenes were so dull you wonder what was the point of even building up the climax? Well, Progeny of Innocence was quite the opposite. I was scrolling down the pages faster than I could remember when it comes to an adrenaline junkie scene. The description was so graphical and such a rush!

However, I was disappointed to see the lack of appearance of the characters that I have came to adore from the first book. Apart from Grace and Angela, I was hoping to see more of Kate and Wade, seemingly they had grown so much on me from the first book. But I guess the introduction of new characters made me ignore my dissatisfaction.

Thank you Patti for giving me an ARC of the book!

Progeny of Innocence exceeded my expectations, and the cliffhanger made me ache for the third book. I can't wait to see what Patti has in stores!

I was really excited when I got asked if I’d like a review copy of the second book in the series. I enjoyed The Angels are Here but I had loads and loads of questions after finishing the book, which I assumed would be answered further in the story – and let’s just say that in Progeny of Innocence, a lot of my questions were answered.

Firstly, I should say that the attention to detail in this book is every bit as good as in the first – there is still good artwork within the book, and it really does add a nice touch to the story. I know looks aren’t everything, but it can certainly help!

Secondly I should say that I enjoyed Grace a lot more as a character in this book than in the previous. She’s no longer a little girl, which made her much more relatable for me, and it’s also gradually becoming more clear why exactly she’s so special, and why she needs protection. Obviously in this review I’m trying not to give too much away, but there are definitely new dimensions added to Grace’s character.

I also appreciated Angela more in this book, and I liked the continuity of her character. Roberts clearly hasn’t forgotten what made Angela so interesting to her readers, and she definitely provides some comic relief when needed, even when she’s clearly not trying to.

One of my main problems with the previous book was the lack of information regarding the Angel’s world, and how the war from there is affecting the human world. Again, this is addressed in this book, and a large chunk at the beginning of the novel is set in the Angel’s world, and really describes what’s going on there, as well as adding new threads to the story – which I will be interested in seeing where they lead. Also, without giving too much away, I think that following this book, the effects of the Ancient world on our world is going to become a whole lot more obvious.

This book really captivated my attention, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself whilst reading it. The first book was good, but this book was much better, in my opinion. Roberts really has a gift for keeping the story flowing nicely, and giving enough away to keep the reader in the loop, whilst they’re still hanging on to find exact details.

For anyone who hasn’t read the first book, both books are available in a double pack special edition now, and I’d totally recommend that to them. However, if you have read the first book, I’d totally recommend this – I really enjoyed it.

I do not remember when I have been more spellbound by a fantasy book before.

I thought ‘The Angels Are Here’ was good, but not quite fully cooked. With Progeny of Innocence Patti Roberts is just showing off. This book delivers on so many levels...

Patti Roberts has grown up. Her writing skills rival some of the very big names out there and I would be surprised if awareness of her talent doesn’t sky-rocket within a few short months.

I had read “Paradox-The Angels are Here" and looked forward to reading the second in the series and Progeny of Innocence did not disappoint. This book had such a captivating story woven intricately between the pages that this reader could not put down the story until its completion. I enjoyed the richness of the characters and all the facades of their personalities. The characters come alive and you can picture each and every one of them with the descriptions the author gives. All the questions I wondered about with the first book were answered.
In the book Juliette narrates and you learn how she was reborn repeatedly and finally settled in Grace. Grace doesn't recall all the details of her past lives though she doesn't sometimes get glimmers through dreams and impressions. She knows that she must recall the past when strange things start happening around her and a killer is loose. She is drawn to the new boy Damon and can’t understand the instant attraction. Angela is still trying to protect Grace but it is more difficult for her as Grace is getting older and will not be swayed as easy as she once was.
I liked the little girl Grace but the development in the character of Grace in this novel makes you see how strong Grace really is becoming as a young woman.
I also really enjoyed was the introduction of Keyla of The Bakhna Rakna who is fighting the bad angels on her own terms. I look forward to finding more about her and her fight and how she and possibly Grace will come together in the next book to save the world in the battle between the warring Angels.
I truly enjoyed this book and if you like paranormal books with intricate plots and a rich story you will too.

I'd first like to state that I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I love how beautifully Ms. Roberts weaves an ancient world with modern times together so seamlessly.
However this was not my typical "Ok kids you play Xbox while I sit here on the couch, drown you out and enjoy a good book". It was more of an "Ok kids don't kill each other over the video games I'm going to find a quiet place away from your noise to enjoy a good book". Progeny of Innocence is a very infrequently woven story that you have to really pay attention to as you read or you will get lost in time and confused by some of the characters.

Because Progeny of Innocence takes place five years after the first book (Paradox:The Angels are Here) the main character Grace is now a sixteen year old and has made quite a few new friends. There are so many amazing characters in this book. Ms. Roberts has a way of describing each one with such clarity and imaginative creativity, that I had no problem picturing them clearly in my mind. I love that while reading this book I know that there are those in the story who are not what they seam to be. while some of the characters could be guessed at, others were not so easily identifiable until I'd get to a spot where I'd have an "Aha!" moment and more of pieces would fall into place.

Reading this book has been such a delightful journey into the imagination of one of the most amazing authors and wonderful women I have come to know. I can not wait to see where the story goes from here and as soon as I press the save key on this review I will be starting book three Bound by Blood.

I finally finished - I have to admit, I put off finishing this book because I so enjoyed it - I didn't want it to end. I love how the characters came full circle at the end!! As Patti promised, many questions that I had from the first book were answered in this one. The characters never ceased to enthrall me, the descriptions never ceased to take me to the scene, and most importantly, I was ALWAYS transported to another time, another place. I really can't put into words how important that is! As a full time student, working full time, I have little to no time to relax and enjoy myself. I need an escape from my world, and this really fit the bill. Patti could go on writing these forever, and I would buy every single one!

I highly recommend this series - not to any one group of people, but to anyone who would like a bit of an escape. I was never confused, though I had questions. I am not going to give anything away, because that is much of the fun of a series! You have to read to understand! But you MUST read this!!! NOW! :) I really liked it! Thanks again Patti!

Patti Roberts has created a story of two worlds that are woven without the current world (Earth) knowing, at least most people aren't aware of.
Not only has she created characters with depth but also with detail so crucial to every measure of this book, (Trust me I'm desperately trying to review without being a spoiler)
The story centers around a girl (on Earth) named Grace and the people in her life who have sent to protect (and harm) her. She is having dreams that she isn't sure is real or memories of past lives she has lived.
I have never believed much in religion or subscribed to any particular type, but Patti has me thinking about this other realm (Altair). Her descriptions paint that Realm in such detail I felt as though I could see it when I closed me eyes. The characters are all AMAZINGLY written and believable. I honestly wish my review could do her work justice. Seriously though, BUY THIS SERIES. You wont regret it, but I can say you must read carefully because EVERY detail is crucial! Amazing, simply amazing

Did I say something earlier about what most people could only HOPE to dream of???? Well, I won't be back from what I call "Patti's World" any time soon. Book two was all I could've hoped for and more. I want to be one of Patti's Angels! I don't have one single regret from doing nothing but reading Paradox; Progeny of Innocence for the past two days! Awesome writing Patti Roberts! I will be bothering you endlessly for the release date of book three...

Okay here was my mistake with this book.... I accidentally read it before I read the first one. I got mixed up and thought this was the first book. But besides that this book was pretty awesome and I suggest you read, but read the first one first because it will save you from asking dumb questions and then slapping your self. But if you do get you in the same knack I was you'll be fine, but I gonna go read first one now.

REVIEW
I finished reading this book on September 7, 2012. Similar to what happened with the first volume of the series, I rate it three stars.
Overall, I found this book much better than the first. Although there are still some parts that I think contribute nothing to the advancement of the narrative, they are not as frequent as in the first volume.
Also there is more action than in the first book, which was good, because I thought the first one was too ‘stopped’.
We were also introduced new characters, some of which I liked. Others I thought they only contributed to the confusion in certain scenes. Anyway, the author managed to juggle them in dialogues - I would lose myself if I had to write a scene with so many people involved.
I intend to continue to follow the series to see how it ends.

Paradoxically in book 2, only days have passed in Altair, but on earth, Grace is now a girl of sixteen. She is still non the wiser about her visions, but she takes them seriously and jots her dreams down. We find out that things at Graces school are rather precarious as the Grigorians have taken the cover of a group of goths at her school. Despite needing to stay hidden, their bloodlust often gets the better of them.
Grace also discovers boys and is attracted to Damon, one of the Goths. One day in class she feels utterly compelled to kiss him. Angela has her doubts about him as he is one of the goths/Grigorians, but is he as evil as they are? Then a Pizza delivery boy Riley catches her eye and she has a spooky feeling she has known him before. I think book 3 will have a very interesting love triangle. I’m glad Angela still has a big role next to Grace; her cool head saves the day on a few occasions.
The story is at times complex as we learn a lot more about the world of Aquila and its inhabitants. There are many magical creatures and we just get just a look into this world. Also on earth we get introduced to a lot of new characters as we follow Grace and her school days. There are still many mysteries to be solved and loose ends to be tied up. The second book ends on a great cliff-hanger, so I ran straight to Amazon to buy part 3. There is no gratuitous sex or swearing, but some of the descriptions are gruesome, so not suitable for a very young adult.

This series must be read in order. The first book is Paradox - The Angels Are Here. This is the second book.

These books are written by an Australian so there was a bit of a learning curve to reading them. That said this book was even better than the first one :) It picks up some years after the first book ends when Grace is a teenager. I was really happy with that as I found it easier to relate to her at the older age. If I had had to read about her whole childhood I would probably have gotten bored eventually.

There really is no series to compare this one to. All aspects of it are incredibly original. In essence the Earth is plagued by demons (Gregorians) and angels but they are all aliens. There are elements of scifi mixed in with the fantasy along with horror, suspense, comedy, tragedy, action, adventure and a dash of romance. You really never know what will happen next! It is fast paced and moves swiftly from the very beginning.

I really love this series and cannot wait to read more :) Paradox - Bound By Blood is the next book. I believe this series would appeal to a wide range of readers especially paranormal enthusiasts and modern fantasy lovers. There's a little bit for everyone in this series :)

***This series is suitable for adult readers only

It is like reading two books, the innocent teenagers' world and the harsh description of the evil's prevalence. If you get used to the writing style and the frequent changes in the use of personal pronouns (from 1st to 3rd person and the opposite), the jumping between present and past and the analytical review of every person's life till the end of the book, which was really an interesting approach, then you get along fine. The teenagers' company, many times, reminded me the "Vampire Diaries" youth company. My favorite character is Angela with her incredible quotes and behavior. I will eagerly wait for the third book.

I absolutely adored this book, I loved book one and this one just got better with its unique plot and vivid details, the author continues combining the ancient world with the new, beautifully detailed full of action, adventure and intrigue to keep the reader in suspense as to what will happen next.
An Epic adventure of Good verse evil, but an adventure that's so much more! Still many questions I need answered and I can't wait to begin the next book in this amazing series.

A must read for fans of all things Paranormal..

There is no resolution in this book, just a massive introduction of characters. It was odd and poorly done. Jumps around to back stories in odd transitions and there were several grammar mishaps: missing punctuation, weird sentences, and missing words.
Won't recommend to anyone.

For my clean readers:
Sex, violence, vampiric demons, a ton of language, and teenage drinking.

Perhaps I am just old, don't know
the basics of the story were very good and from a technical viewpoint well put together.
My main problem is the continual back filling of the back story. It tends to take you away from the main story way too often.
The characters are well written for the most part however some fall a little flat.
I can see the entire story as being more intense then what has been written. I do understand that it is written for the young adult and that does provide for it's own limitations.

It takes some reading to get the idea of the story and how the characters have past lives that intertwine with each other through the century's. I am still not clear how some of the angels inhabit mortal bodies or what purpose that serves. It would seem that good and evil stay the same across the eons.
