Race Noble has lost his powers, and he's convinced his life is over. But his wife Liz has never had any superpowers, and she tries to convince him that there's more to life than being a super hero. Meanwhile, Rusty Noble learns a horrible secret about his girlfriend, which sends him on a collision course with his hated half-brother, Frost.
It'd been a while since I was able to pick up the Noble Causes series, but I was able to get into this with little to no problem. After all, I've been waiting until I could afford to pick up this volume!
In this volume we find out the repercussions of many actions in the last volume. Rusty is now powerless & his wife Liz ends up being on the brunt end of much of his frustration. He's willing to do anything to get his powers back- even if involves getting entangled with Celeste & the company who gave her the powers she now has. Meanwhile, an incriminating video makes its way to Rusty Noble, showing his girlfriend Cosmic Rae joining Frost in the theft that occurred in the previous volume. Rae's got more secrets than just that & when Rusty finds out... it isn't going to be pretty.
Seriously, I love this series. I've been waiting for the inevitable clash between Rae & Rusty. I really love the character development in this series & I like how Faeber plots out his stories. For instance, I can understand Rusty's reaction because of the fake Liz that showed up earlier in the story. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series, with the Kitty storyline & the final part of Noble Causes "classic" before the story picks up 5 years into the future. Oh & if this current volume (volume 7) wasn't cool enough- we get time travel. I can't say anything else about that or I'll ruin the surprise! (Unless you've read the issues already- then you know what happens.)
If you haven't read any of the previous volumes, I don't recommend picking this up. You'll get hopelessly lost, as this is far past halfway in the series. I recommend going to the first volume if you are curious!
This is kind of the best and worst installment of the series so far. It's all going off the rails, but that's kind of the point. That's kind of what you want in a soap opera. Think about it, Randy Savage was at he peak when he was spouting off about the cream of the crop and maybe he is a little insane. When he was going off the rails. That's how drama works.
Alot going on here: like the turn for the blackthorn's, wish we were following that more. What do you do when your wife gets your powers then gets lost in the time stream, then the most annoying character finally goes to jail.
