The Thames Path (National Trail Guides) by David Sharp

Rate this book
Running for 180 miles, from the river's source in rural Gloucestershire to the Thames Barrier, the Thames Path is England's newest National Trail and one of the most varied and accessible of the country's long-distance paths. Official waymarks lead the walker through tranquil water meadows, past the dreaming spires of Oxford and the pageantry of Windsor and Hampton Court, through the heart of the Capital, to London's Docklands and beyond. This is the official guide to the Path-an invaluable companion for the long-distance walker and stroller alike. It the entire route split into convenient sections; detailed Ordnance Survey maps and a precise route description of each section; details of bus and train access to the route; and a wealth of color photos.

Planning my next long distance walk and will always turn to the National Trail Guide as my starting point. This time, it's the Thames Path starting at the source in Gloucestershire. These guides are very informative, with lovely pictures. They break the walk down into practical, manageable chunks of around 10-15 miles of walking in a day, depending on the terrain and places to stop en route for accommodation and refreshment. Very much looking forward to starting the walk, as the weather improves and have enjoyed planning with this book.
