Muhammad Ali: The King of the Ring

Rate this book
Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. in 1942. A three-time World Heavyweight Champion he is widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. But Ali's legacy reaches far beyond the world of sports. He changed his name from Clay to Ali after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, and refused to join the U.S. military during the Vietnam War, facing arrest and losing his boxing title and the right to fight for four years because of his beliefs. After returning to the ring after a four-year forced absence, he participated in several of the most memorable and historic boxing matches of all time. He was known for his charisma, sharp intellect and wit, and also his rhymes, making him a cultural icon and one of the most recognized and inspiring people on the planet. Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali's personal story is one for the ages. Campfire's biography of Muhammad Ali will teach, inspire and entertain young readers.

I didn't expect this novel would invoke so much emotion in me. Great read, now excuse me while I watch some of Muhammad Ali's best fights on YouTube for the next few days!

Great Ali biography in graphic novel form -- but definitely meant for younger readers.

I would give this book five stars because I really enjoyed the book. I liked it because he came from nothing to become the best heavyweight boxer.

My favorite section was when he met his favorite boxer and he was determined to be the greatest boxer. Ali met Gorgeous George after he was already competing -- Ali went to one of his matches.

I would make a recommendation to somebody who would enjoy boxing and wants to learn about past boxers. All the way from elementary through high school could read this book.

This was my 2019 Black History Month read and who better than the man who "floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee" in the ring but was also so much more than that in all that he achieved in his life.

Beautifully illustrated and succinctly told.

One of the best graphic novels by campfire. Muhammad Ali's story from a unknown boxer to a legendary icon in world of boxing is inspiring and praise worthy. Sylvester Stallone was inspired to write a script after watching a boxing of Ali. The movie was rocky.
