Kay Lee Arthur was an American Christian author, Bible teacher, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Renowned for her accessible and inductive approach to Bible study, she helped millions engage deeply with Scripture. Arthur began her ministry informally, teaching teenagers in her living room alongside her second husband, Jack Arthur. Their work soon grew into a global outreach, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the name Precept Ministries International. She hosted the daily Bible teaching program Precepts for Life and became a respected voice in evangelical circles. Arthur authored numerous books and was a four-time winner of the ECPA Christian Book Award for titles such as A Marriage Without Regrets and The New Inductive Study Bible. Her ministry was rooted in a personal reawakening to faith in the early 1960s, following a divorce and a return to religious life. She and Jack also served briefly as missionaries in Mexico before founding their ministry. Arthur remained active in public faith-based initiatives into her later years and was known for her firm stances on social issues. She passed away on 2025 leaving behind a lasting legacy in Christian education and publishing.

My thoughts about the book: The Power of Knowing of Knowing God is a 6-week 40 minute Bible study guide that will help you get up close and personal with the Sovereign, Powerful and Holy God of the universe. And what is really an amazing fact is that He wants to have a living, vibrant and up close and personal relationship with us. How awesome is that?
Week one is a study about the fact that God is Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, and the Creator of all. With a very heavy emphasis on the Word of God and an active participation/interaction with the Scriptures read, we see God revealed for just who he really is as the Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient Creator God. A few of the Scripture passages studied include Genesis 1:15, John 1:1-4, 14-18; Psalm 90:1-2 and many others. Also with each of the 6 studies there is what is referred to as an “Insight” section which provides invaluable and helpful information to us about what we are studying.
The subject matter of the study for week 2 is that “God is Sovereign, the Supreme Ruler of the Universe. Week 3’s study is about the fact that God is All Powerful, All Knowing, Everywhere Present All the Tine. In week 4 the study is concerning the Righteousness, Justice and Truth of God. In week 5 the fact that God is love is examined. And in week 6 God as a Holy God is looked at.
Although a person could work through this study on their own it is ideally suited for a group study so that we can interact on a personal level with others about what we are reading and learning. And in turn because we are fellowshipping with one another – being edified and built up in our faith, it builds and strengthens not only our relationships with one another but also with our God as the Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Creator, Sovereign, All Powerful, All Knowing, Omnipresent, Righteous, Always Truthful, Just, Loving and Holy God. And I can tell you from personal experience that getting to know God is getting to love him…and I do, and I know you too will love him more if you purchase and complete this study.

"The Power of Knowing God" is a no homework, 6-week-long Bible study. It's designed for small groups to do together once a week in a 40 minute period. The Bible study let Scripture speak for itself and was careful to keep the studied verses in context. It examined what God said about Himself in the Bible in both the Old and New Testament.
The study had people read several verses (which were included in the book along with information about the context of the verses), mark/highlight certain words, then answer several questions about what was just read. Insight boxes were included with word study information that helped make a verse or point more understandable.
The questions were helpful in focusing attention on all the points that needed to be looked at. In case you missed a point, the "wrap up" section at the end of each week's lesson summarized what was learned that week.
I enjoyed this study and thought it was well-written and made good points. I'd recommend this Bible study to all Christians. It's a good reminder if you already know it, but it'll really strengthen your walk with God if you didn't know it.
I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.
Like all of the Precept inductive bible studies I have done this one is excellent. It's amazing to see how the character of God fits together and enhances each different aspect. When you understand the foundation of his character is righteousness and justice you can better understand his omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence. You see how God's Love is magnified by an understanding of his wrath for sin. And His holiness pronounces his jealousy. This is not an exhaustive study on God's character, but it will take you farther than the simple Sunday school answers. If you plan on doing this study with a group, I would expect to take more than 1 week to make it though a week in the study. It would often take our group 2-3 weeks per week due to our discussions from the study. (the only reason I dinged it a star.)
