Prayer Changes Things

Rate this book
In the 1960s, Charles Allen sharpended his pencil and wrote, simply and earnestly, what he believed about prayer. He wanted Christians to discover the power of intercession, but Prayer Changes Things went beyond that -- it ignited a trend. It pushed prayer past church boundaries and into the home and workplace. It changed people's lives and their walk with God. And the book grew into a perennial best-seller. In this 40th anniversary edition and companion to All Things Are Possible through Prayer, you can join the generations who've accessed prayer's power. Allen distills biblical truths into memorable, workable guidelines. For example, you'll learn about dividends from troubles, the five laws of faith, basic principles of living, making hard decisions, overcoming your anxieties, and what makes a person great -- all in the context of abiding, believing prayer. The kind of prayer that not only alters circumstances but also changes you. If you desire a more fulfilling, effective prayer life, you're already holding the catalyst in your hands. Let the beloved author of God's Psychiatry share his practical wisdom and faith in God's promises. Because after all these years, prayer still changes things.

I have been reading books on prayer this entire year as part of my quiet time, and this is the one I have found to be the least helpful. It was written in different political times and I found some of the statements chauvinistic. I'm giving my copy to the local library--not on my to read again list.

Even though this book was written in 1964, it is still spot on about prayer. I read the book slowly letting the words sink into my mind. My aunt had the book and I am thankful that I was able to read it.
