Smashing Laptops: A Nomad's Romance

Rate this book
The world’s first pregnant virgin in over 2000 years lives in Missoula, Montana. Her nomadic best friend is wallowing in the fallout of a disastrous Las Vegas love affair when she asks him to come back home for the miraculous birth. Now he has no choice but to return once again to the one town he can’t ever seem to stay away from for long. Smashing Laptops is a romance with wanderlust among a community of guerrilla artists, gnostic magicians, and fly-fishing fanatics peering over the edge of the millennium, as rotary phones and telephone poles slowly disintegrate into the 21st century.

"A tumbling, unpredictable and hilarious guide for anyone seeking the way back home again." -David Allan Cates; Author of "X out of Wonderland" and "Freeman Walker"

"Wagner's book is beautifully written, and true, and filled with serious tenderness... You can see the words of certain passages scrawled in a notebook before they've been transcribed. It's the sort of writing that can only come from experience, given to us raw and unfiltered with a charm that requires only a little prodding to fall for." -Molly Laich, "Missoula Independent"

I love Josh Wagner's books, there's just no arguing that. His writing is wonderful, lyrical and poetic like the bards of old. His stories take my imagination on a ride that never ceases to amaze and delight me. I am a huge fan. Smashing Laptops is about Missoula, Montana and he makes it sound mythic in all it's gritty glory. If I didn't already know the town well, I'd read this and want to be part of the crowd these characters hang out in. They are unique, yet each of us in one way or another. So another great story by a storyteller who always creates a renewed sense of wonder in me. Now I'm on to my personally autographed copy of Fiction Clemens, a graphic novel by Josh Wagner and a brilliant illustrator named Joiton. I'm already enchanted...
