Mike Byster has helped thousands of people achieve a better, faster, sharper mind through this award-winning Brainetics program and now, in his highly anticipated first book, he reveals all—proving that everyone has the capacity for genius and explaining in practical detail how you can develop a mind to rival the greats. Genius is the key to being more successful, more imaginative, more confident, more adaptable to change, and more effective at work, home, school, and life. While not everyone is a natural-born genius, you can cultivate it, put it to work, and watch it transform your life. With a blend of storytelling, landmark research, step-by-step lessons, and a slew of engaging exercises supported by an interactive website, Genius presents Byster’s revolutionary system to have you thinking like a genius—no matter what your age or IQ. You’ll • How to get the brain to multitask naturally—despite the conventional argument that says it’s not possible. • Why learning to forget is a cornerstone to cultivating a sharp mind. • The six essential skills of being a genius that schools don’t teach (but which you’ll learn in the book) • The single most important strategy to use that can open you up to mastering anything in life, from foreign languages to music, cooking, negotiating, communicating, and even establishing better relationships with others. This indispensible book will have you thinking like a genius in no time, improving your ability to communicate, innovate, impress others, stand out in a crowd, get ahead of your peers, move up the social—and corporate—ladder, magnify your employability and moneymaking capacity, learn to make excellent decisions, solve problems large and small, and gain the confidence to take on any challenge. You’ll soon find yourself getting ahead faster than you ever thought possible, while also never forgetting where you left your keys or how to perform under pressure. Including strategies and techniques that can’t be found elsewhere, Genius is a bold call for all of us to ignite our inner genius—and live up to our greatest potential.
In the fairly recent past, I have completed a course through George Washington University on optimizing brain fitness. Since I spent nearly seven years with symptoms that we first thought were ALS (but may have turned out to be Lyme's disease), I've taken a keen interest on brain function, health and utilization. This book by Mike Byster is an exceptional resource. Yet, that's not to say that only someone in my particular situation or circumstance can benefit from this book. YOU, yes you reading this, CAN benefit from it; and I shudder to think that I would make such a bold claim lightly.
This is not a mere "memory book" or a training manual for teaching you some parlor tricks to be used to win bets at bars or dazzle family and friends at reunions (although I suppose you could master certain techniques presented and use them in that way). Mike Byster brings us a resource that, if read in the way I believe it was intended, will engage the mind to release its unused potential. If you want an engaging book that challenges you to creatively think and analyze information quickly, then this is the book for you.
There will certainly be some "aha" moments when you realize that the concepts and principles expressed in capturing information and processing the same seem so obvious; yet, I can imagine that those moments will be different for just about everyone picking up the book.
Mr. Byster's book is not some lazy man's guide to a better memory. It is an engaging work that was meant to stimulate the brain. One may tend to think that Mike moves too quickly through some of his examples and exercises, but that is the genius of his presentation; it's not meant to hold your hand through every single detail and nuance. It's meant to train your mind to respond to the particular concept or principal revealed. To do otherwise would be to actually undermine the purpose of the book. There may be examples you will want to linger on; or you may also find that certain examples that have not been grasped can be left for a time. Interestingly, you may find a technique or concept later on in the book that will help you more readily connect with one that earlier you had some difficulty engaging fully.
Therefore, this book is not a one-time-read, placed in the bookcase to forever gather dust. This is meant to be read repetitively until the potential of the brain is unleashed so that eventually, your mind is developing concepts, patterns of thought, memory, calculation, and analysis that are particularly yours. Some examples will be easily grasped; others may take quite a bit longer. Because it is written in this way, to be read again and again through the concepts and principals that you and I haven't quite apprehended, the value of this work will far exceed its purchase price.
Failure to follow through with this book will come, in my humble opinion, because we cast aside discipline (and I know I have failed often in this area due the corruptions of sinful flesh). Discipline is the key for developing the concepts found in this book.
Bravo, Mr. Byster, for providing a resource that will ignite our brains and unleash the genius in all of us.
