Constantly in search of new frontiers, Carol Alt is the ultimate chameleon. Since her days as the world’s most renowned Supermodel, Carol Alt has gone on to be author, actress and entrepreneur. Having had enormous success in all her endeavors such as being a USA Today Best-Selling Author for her books on Raw food; a multi- award winning actress; the face of her own line of cosmetics; having a number one hit in Europe in the music industry; providing voiceovers for such hits as “King of the Hill”; and as the host of various TV and radio morning shows and newscasts, including Fox’s “Good Day Live”.

Called “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by Playboy Magazine and “The Next Million Dollar Face” by Life Magazine, Carol has not disappointed. Gracing the covers of over 700 magazines, several posters, two workout videos and numerous calendars, she is a one-woman conglomerate! She has lost track of the number of advertising campaigns, commercials, interviews, hosting jobs and endorsement contracts that have created this enormously successful and lasting career.

Forever touted as “The model that started the Supermodel trend” by John Casablancas, the owner of Elite Models, Carol tosses off that title as the result of necessity being the mother of invention. The necessity of a fourth Elite division of models who worked every day - who were career professionals - made Carol the first ever “Super Elite Model in the Super Elite Division.” The press therefore dubbed her the first “Supermodel.”

Hitting the highest echelons of the fashion industry did nothing but fuel Carol’s thirst for new projects and new venues, so, making good use of her fame, she self- produced her highly successful series of posters and calendars when Elite rejected the idea. These posters and calendars became the benchmark for any and every rising young supermodel. Carol thereby created a new business for all supermodels to come and in the process, became the object of fantasy for every young boy in America who had her poster plastered on his bedroom wall.

No other model can boast an uninterrupted 27 year career. Having twice graced the cover of the coveted Sports Illustrated Magazine’s Swimsuit Edition, Carol has gone on to star in over 50 movies, series, miniseries and episodic television in America and abroad.

Her highly acclaimed series “Amazon”, written by Peter Benchley, debuted as Variety’s “Number One New Dramatic Syndicated Series”, much to the delight of CBS and Alliance Atlantis, and paved the way for today’s hit “Lost”.

Carol has also had great success for her role in “Howard Sterns Private Parts”.
She is the recipient of Three European Telegattos (Emmy awards), one European “Oscar” Moda, The Mont Blanc Award, The Best Award, The Golden Ticket Box-Office Award ( for the most box office sales for a film in one year), The Certificate del Arte from The European Film Commission and The Umbra Award.

Prince Albert still holds a slight grudge that Carol did not come to the Monaco Film Festival to pick up her award for the portrayal of the life story of Rosanna Benzi, a woman with genetic polio living in an iron lung, in the film “Vice for Life.”

Not content to “just act”, she re-wrote the medical aspects, co-produced, and directed the children in a series of 12 films about a female doctor with a practice in an African clinic called “Under the African Sun.”

Her independent films include “Hitters”, which won the Westchester Film Festival, “The Look” which was the talk of The Tribeca Film Festival and “Signs of the Cross” which won The Catskills Film Festival.
Her sci-fi hit, “Snakehead Terror”, based on a true story, is still scaring people on the Sci-Fi Channel where it became not only a hit, but now a cult film.

Her recent films include: “Fatal Trust” for Lifetime, “Totally Awesome” for VH1,”Homo Erectus”, an Adam Rifkin comedy

I have the first raw food book from Carol Alt and found that one to have some complicated recipes for beginners going raw. This book has much more simpler recipes that anyone can easily make with easy to find ingredients.

She's a really glamorous and compelling advert for raw food in general, but it didn't seem practical to me. Like the English readers who couldn't find a way to buy a "dehydrator" it ended up that I just looked at the salad recipes and didn't find those better than what you can find in the Vegetarian Epicure or Moosewood Cookbook (and those two are more flavorful).

But the sweet stuff and advice about fruit dishes were good - it was a mouthwatering way to conceptualize healthy eating!!

Some good recipes. I don’t think that eating a raw diet gives you license to dispense advice about health and well-being. I was also quite surprised that it’s not vegan as I think the most benefits are achieved from avoiding animal products.

After reading Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Veg wherein he features some recipes for simply enjoying vegetables in their raw state, that got me thinking about what other combinations I could try. I sought out raw recipes and so many times was disappointed at the hurdles of purchasing new equipment and hard-to-find ingredients that I never knew existed, much less know where to find with ease.

I persisted and finally found this collection of raw recipes. This is an excellent beginner book because it treats the reader as if this is a transition (as I imagine it is for most people that encounter it) into a new form of eating. The recipes are simple, with mostly easy-to-find ingredients (and when unusual, the author offers a resource section so as to acquire a quality product), that typically require no more than a blender, perhaps food processor, and a dehydrator which is likely the one item someone lacks.
The recipes are omnivore- there are meat, and dairy aspects. For me, that was refreshing because -honestly- I am rather despise most vegan substitutes for meat, or dairy. I would rather leave them out all together because they completely detract from the flavors in a vain attempt to be like their animal counterparts. She offers slow transition recipes to demonstrate how one might be able to incorporate raw foods into one's regular meal plan. That is an inspiration right there. Once she demonstrates the methods, one can much more easily adapt favorite techniques.
Throughout the book, there is also education regarding raw benefits, how traditional items are made and how raw improves that product, along with tips and tricks to make preparing recipes, and ingredients faster, and easier. There are variations given for many recipes and one is always encouraged to experiment one find one's own flavor preferences.
All parts of a meal are offered, including how to make "bread" and "crackers" in the dehydrator, and desserts.

I give it a 3.5. I started reading the ebook to get recipe ideas and discovered more. Now I’m curious what my body’s ph is. Acidic or alkaline? Do I have the “fat-is-bad-for-you mentality?”

I plan to read Dr. Howell’s book, “Enzyme Nutrition.” Will also read more raw books by Alt.

I am a health nut and am obsessed with eating real, healthy food although I cheat once in awhile. I always take my vitamins and try to exercise every now and then. I am going through menopause and have discovered that I have to eat healthy or I won't feel good. I will have horrible headaches, sleepless nights and a host of other symptoms. In my quest to be healthier, I picked up Carol Alt's book Easy Sexy Raw. I tend to feel the best when eating raw.

My biggest challenge to eating raw is that I tend to avoid green foods. It's like a little phobia I have that holds me back. What I have going for me is that I have a shake every day of fresh fruits. So Carol Alt's book helped me make my diet a lot greener and healthier. Every day I add a cup or two of spinach or leafy greens to my shake as well as a scoop of Spirulina or Green Vibrance. This makes it super green. At first I started with only one spinach leaf and when I couldn't tell the difference I added more. So my shake gradually turned greener and now I am not grossed out by the color anymore (other people are, by the way).

Alt sets up her book to teach people all about food and what Raw really means. She starts the book with a great introduction which explains how she decided to go on a raw food diet. Guess what, you can eat a lot more than just salad and carrots. Plus you don't need to go 100 percent raw, even 70 percent raw is good. I decided to go raw for two meals a day and eat a regular cooked dinner with my family everyday.

The first chapter was the most valuable for me. It's called Uncooked 101: What you need to know to go raw. This taught me so much about raw food. Raw doesn't necessarily mean cold, it means not cooked over 115 degrees. So get yourself a good kitchen thermometer to test your food. Alt also introduced me to different gadgets, like Yonanas (this makes ice cream out of frozen bananas and other fruit, I love it!), a Dehydrator, a sprouter, a high speed blender ( I have the nutri-bullet and it's awesome) and more. She even provides a A to Z shopping list which I found invaluable.

I also liked the recipes provided, there are about 130, but most of all I liked the little suggestions and the changes they brought to my life. Did you know there are raw milk cheeses? I didn't but I found some raw milk cheese at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and my whole family loves them. Never going back to regular cheese.

So if you want to make a change in your life, feel better, eat greener and gain some energy, give Carol Alt's book a try. Raw really is easy!

What makes this book outstanding is the up to date information, the indexed and broken down how to information from sprouting, soaking and fermenting. She makes it all look easy.

I also liked how she doesn't preach but presents, and gives you easy and simple ways to get more raw into your diet. That may mean just changing a few things, or starting to make raw meals. It is all simply shown but with a clear "sexy" attitude.

Carol's lastest book is a treat. It is not, however, vegan or vegetarian, but does have some meat free options throughout. The layout is very smart, giving defintions, basic raw foodist ingredients and equipment (juicer, dehydrator) Easy recipes and great advice make this a perfect place to start your raw food journey. A must purchase for me. Healthy snack and meal ideas. Unisex.

A great deal of information - a lot to "digest". It seems great as an additional resource once you've read a more basic book. Also, there is some intriguing information about what is really healthy food.

First catch your dehydrator...

I'm sure the food in here was good, but it is too alien for me to create in my tiny English kitchen and I certainly don't have all the gadgets needed, so I ended up not trying anything.

Not vegan not vegetarian but raw based with partially raw and cooked options on some recipes. Some great ideas and others I will skip because they aren't veg.

A good introductory primer on going raw. I learned a few things. I especially liked the section on how to turn regular recipes into raw recipes and will review this section again.
