Zaista sam želela da mi se dopadne ova knjiga, ali nije - problem je u tome što u jednom trenutku ona postaje puko nabrajanje imena fotografa i mesta na kojima su radili, dok je knjiga tako "složena" da se fotografije koje su referencirane u tekstu uz ta imena nalaze po par strana iza teksta. Sve ovo ište stalno prelistavanje napred-nazad, napred-nazad, što je za osobu moje pileće koncentracije pogubno i zbog čega sam gubila nit (a i zainteresovanost) tokom čitanja.

Elem, ipak ne treba ni suditi prestrogo o ovoj knjizi jer je ipak vredna za upoznavanje istorije fotografije, a pošto je pisana kada je pisana, boljeg načina za predstavljanje ove teme nije ni bilo. Ali pošto živimo u dvaesprvom veku i uživamo blagodeti interneta, moguće je upoznati se sa istorijom fotografije na neke interaktivnije i življe načine, koristeći ovu knjigu kao vodič za dalja i detaljnija istraživanja.

Very concise - at some points little more than a list of photographers important in a sub-field - it's nonetheless an excellent discourse on the equipment, styles, personalities and works of art in the history of photography. I can't help but feel that this book is better read now, when each time the reader encounters an unfamiliar name she can search the internet for context, than when the book was originally written. Nonetheless, there's an excellent sample of images of varying styles and eras included, and it's a cracking little primer on photography available for peanuts second-hand.
