The epic mini-series collected for the first time! Earth, 2020. United States Special Forces Major Laurence "Prophet" Barnes and the soldiers of Raptor Team thought their deployment on the Lingshan islands was a basic covert op against North Korean forces. They couldn't have been more wrong. Archaeologists had awoken a nightmare on the island that had lain buried for millions of years - the Ceph, an alien race utterly hostile to human life. In a battle that stretches across the solar system and back, can Prophet and Raptor Team stop the aliens and save mankind?
An inessential, but somewhat interesting tie-in that tries to explain just a bit of what happened between Crysis 1 and 2. I love the games and while the story in them isn't amazing, I always wondered how the state of things changed so much between games, and this comic explains just a bit of what happened, though not as much as I'd have liked. We do get more insight into Prophet's mindset during the first game and how things happening before and during that game lead into 2, which is what I'd hoped for, but there' still a lot left hanging, and I didn't love how two particular characters had their story resolved. The artwork is okay, but the faces are kind of inconsistent and nobody really resembles their game counterparts, but the Nanosuits look good and the action scenes are nicely rendered.
3/10. Pretty meh overall but I had to read it to get the full story between Crysis 1 and 2. Inconsistent art, bad dialogue, bad pacing, but some semi-interesting concepts. It's overall not unreadable and only 6 chapters long so it's not too long. Overall read it if you're a completionist cause it isn't too unreadable, but if you aren't and just want a good read, skip this one.
