Wow! What a little scorcher! And it's free! Which makes it doubly enjoyable!

Needing Nita was my introduction to Norah Wilson's writing, and if this is an indication of her work--I think I'll have to read more!

This was a real quickie that you can knock off in an hour or so, about a lawyer who believes her health (and life) is in jeopardy, so why not do what she secretly yearns to do (but has denied herself)--have a fling with the hot cop she's been lusting after for years.

Yes, the relationship and the ILYs moved a little fast, but the author points out that the H/h have known each other for years, even though they never dated. The heroine calls up the hero for a dinner date (out of the blue) but then lets him know that she'd like to have him for dessert, and...wow! Smokin' hot good times follow...

Hot sex scenes, and likable characters--with a little more development this could've been a five star read. I'll definitely look for more from Norah Wilson. 4 stars

This was a very short story filled with a whole heap of hotness.

One minute the saucy couple were set to have a dinner date - next minutes they were playing pin the boner on the uterus, and they played that game A LOT! It was sizzling, it was 100% horny and it was very enjoyable in that respect ;) Well written and smooth, but it was way too short for me – not the boner – the story.

I would have loved the opportunity to fall in love with Craig slowly and in a more in depth manner but it was a great way to get a feel for this author. In the small amount of pages you can clearly tell that this author has talent – she is hot between the pages and a great story teller. I will be keeping my eye on this talented lady.

This is by far my favorite in the To Serve and Protect series. This little novella is tucked in after book 3 (Protecting Paige) in the series of which I have read all 3 books published, and focuses solely on the romance and connection between the two lead protagonists with no suspense elements whatsoever.

This little number should convince readers to give the whole series a go because at the cost of repeating myself, Norah has that ability to draw the reader in and inevitably deliver an unforgettable reading experience.

I loved Craig as you can see from the 100% he scored in my ratings. He is uber sexy, protective and did I mention sexaay? And he whispers those dirty bits in Nita’s ears (when he whispered that he was so ready for Nita, I just about said out loud, oh baby so am I); that just made me sigh all over my e-reader and go all tingly which just went to show how invested I was in the characters and the story.

The connection and sensuality is just off the charts hot, the characters darn endearing and the delivery plain fantastic that just earns this novella a place from my favorites shelves.

If you are new to Norah’s writing, this delicious morsel is exactly your place to start because I just know that if you are an avid romance fan like myself; Needing Nita would just leave you begging for more!

Listed as #3.5 in the Serve and Protect series by Norah Wilson. Not much of a story since it's short but for what it is, it's hot! I have enjoyed reading the first couple of books in the Norah Wilson series, Serve and Protect, and I look forward in continuing it.

I was really just looking for something (mindless) to read and to start getting out of my reading slump that I'm convinced started with NW. *shakes fist* I mean, seriously, I have TONS of books on my Nook just batting their eyelashes at me, looking like this and screaming "PICK ME!!":

And yet here I sit feeling nothing. Oh well.

Anyhow, onto the review:

This was okay. The couple are cute. The story and dialogue were satisfactory (despite the preposterous 'reason' they end up in bed but I digress) until about 85-90% of the way in when Craig starts talking about love, marriage and kids and I'm all like *record scratch* "HOLD UP!"
I really need authors to realize that some of us are quite satisfied if a couple end up in a healthy relationship at the end of a book. There's just absolutely no reason to be pushing all the marriage and baby in a carriage story lines so quickly and forcefully.

This was a very nice and sweet short story about a lawyer who is told she has a brain tumor and decides to do what she considers is reckless. She calls cop Craig and takes him up on his offer to go out on a date. See, she has this "no cop" dating policy because they work too close together and she wanted to protect her reputation in court and at the police department. Things get heated up rather quickly and ends with a very happy ending.

I usually don't like suspense thrillers or contemporaries but I am trying a few just to test the waters. This one didn't disappoint. What drew me to it was the fact that this lady was dying and I personally know how quickly things can go from bad to really really bad. I know what it feels like to want to get as much in while you still can.

The writing was really good although it could have used some editing but not too bad. Author did a good job of making all of the emotions, thoughts and actions feel real and she did a really good job with the pace of the story.

I'm not sure yet if I would read the other books but I might. :-)

So freakin' good.

Would be perfect if it was a full-length (or at least longer) story.

Clever.
Sexy.
Love the characters.

The author packed so much heart into this little book. So impressed.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Nita is an attorney. She finds herself attracted to Det. Craig, but refuses to date a cop. Upon hearing some bad news from her doctor, Nita, thought she would die. After hearing the news, she goes on impulse and gets Craig into her bed. After the deed is finish, her doctor confirms his mistake.

THOUGHTS

I did not know what to expect from this story, but I actually loved it. The concept alone I found enjoyable, however, Nita and Craig's interaction really brought a smile to my face. Although Craig was or seems to be a tough cop, his weakness seems to be Nita. He has asked her out numerous times but she has declined. Nita is a very into her work and cares what people thinks if she dates Det. Craig. The moment she gets her bad news, I love both characters interaction and chemistry. After the doctor's mistake, it gets even better for me.

I found the story to be cute and entertaining. Being a novella, it definitely had its fast pace moments, however, you couldn't help but fall in love with both Nita and Craig. I have never read anything by this author, but it makes me want to tip toe on over to her books and have a peak.

Storyline: FAIR to GOOD
Intimacy: VERY GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

Description: Attorney, Nita Reynolds, doesn’t date cops, but when she receives a fatal diagnosis, she decides to take Det. Craig Walker up on one of his many advances. If she’s going out, she’s going to do a lot living first with Detective Walker in her bed!

The Good: NEEDING NITA is funny and sweet and at the time of this writing totally free! This is, so far, the first free book, I’ve been able to heartily recommend. Loved, loved, loved the situation.

The Bad: I kept on trying to figure out if this was truly an interracial (bwwm) novel or if the woman on the cover just looked brown. I’m still not sure. Some reference to the heroine’s race would have been nice.

The Naughty: Erotic. Explicit language.

Editing issues: Minor. One typo.

Publisher: self-published

Length: Novella (15K words)

Final Grade: B

Happy Reading,

This is more of a 3.5 rounded up to a 4.

It was a kindle freebie.

However, it was very short and everything happened so quick with the couple being in love.

I loved this series, so maybe I just wish there had been another full length book in the series, as I think this would have made an excellent addition , and the issues and plot given a lot more depth and page time. But it was still a great little read, I just wish it had been more

What I Liked: The great characters! Even though there wasn't much backstory on them, they were fleshed out very well. I got to know and like them based strictly on their personalities. I was rooting for them and so happy when they got their HEA!

I also loved the subtle humor. It felt so natural. Along with the romance, that despite happening fast, was so believable. The writing was choppy at first, but quickly evened out and became enjoyable. Honestly, this is more of a "what didn't I like?!" So, let's get to that.

What I Didn't Like: My biggest issue was the intimacy between the H/h was too soon. Granted, it wasn't first thing to start the story, but was close enough. It seemed like they weren't ready, and since I didn't know them well enough yet, I wasn't either. It was very lukewarm. It would have been—and was—a ton better had they bonded/chatted over drinks or a meal first. As it is, it came off very forced and contrived. Not sexy at all.

Final Analysis: A really great story. I thought it was a quick, sweet and sexy treat. The rocky start is greatly eclipsed by a wonderful middle and finish. I'm satisfied with it and will gladly send it to my "keeper" shelf.

Nita is having the worst day of her life. She has a brain tumor. Thinking she doesn't have but so much time, she decides to give in to her strong attraction to Detective Craig Walker. She decides that while she is still functioning properly, she want to have wild monkey sex with Craig. The morning after their bout of sexcapdes, she gets a call from her doctor saying that her scans were mixed up and was perfectly healthy. She realizes that last night was a big mistake. Too bad Craig doesn't think so.

As always, Norah wrote a wonderful love story that only had me wishing it was longer. Lol. I have a love/hate relationship with novellas. I love them because they are usually great in-betweens for books but at the same time, they always leave me wanting more! Lol. Don't mistake my opinion thinking that I didn't like Needing Nita. I absolutely loved it, I just have this slight obsession with this series and need to feed more of my fix. :) If only there were more hours in the day for Norah so she can write another in this series. I wonder if there is a way to teach someone to write in their sleep? :p

I thoroughly enjoy Norah Wilson's writing. She has the ability to captivate the reader and make a character real almost instantly. This works well for this short novella.

It's easy to understand both Nita's resistance at the man that makes her heart race, and her reasons to throw caution to the wind. It also makes the reader wonder what changes they would make in similar shoes.

For Craig, he's immediately likeable and caring, yet still maintains that sexy tough cop image. The chemistry between Nita Reynolds and Detective Craig Walker is hot hot hot!

The one thing I had a hard time with was that the ending felt rushed. It may be a consequence of the novella, but how the hero was so intensely commitment seeking was a little bit much for this to feel real. Too much, too fast. That aside, Wilson did an incredible job giving this short novella a real novel feel. It's a great addition to a fantastic series and an enjoyable read!

I admit, I read out of order, starting with Saving Grace. I loved it, So decided to try Needing Nita. This book fell flat on its face in comparison. All the tension I felt, the nail-biting, short of breath anxiety I enjoyed in Saving Grace didn't exist in this book.

Sure, I know they are not the same book, but still, I really expected something more.

***Thar be spoilers ahead****

The romance felt thrown together, with inst-love disguised as "We really loved each other all along... honest!"
When in reality I thought it was "I'm gonna die... monkey sex!" Don't get me wrong, monkey sex is great, but don't insult me with the "but we really did luff each other first." cop out.
I will read more by this author, yes, and I really hope she writes more books as awesome as Saving Grace.

This is a good one for me...

What would you do if you learned that you will already die???
Of course you would get the man you've always fantisize and lust for right???lol "Hell yeah."

Attorney Nita Reynolds did exactly what she always dreamed of.
Having a wrong diagnosis about her getting cancer, she asked the hot detective Craig Walker.

I liked how they loves scenes were laid out on this one. Not just sex but passion and intimacy. Not overrated.
I liked that Craig is very straight forward with his feelings with Nita.
Glad that this was a short read and Nita did not made it hard for Craig to win her.

A good short read that always tell us that sometimes, love is just right in front on us.:)

This is my first time reading a story by Norah Wilson and she did not disappoint. Even though it's a short story, she got her point across and fit in enough slutttyness to make me a happy camper.

I liked the strong heroine who knew what (or rather, who) she wanted and how to get it. And she wrote about a hawt hero who complimented this girl in every way and knew how to give her space, who could cook (perfect in my book!!), and best of all: used mirrors well.
What I really liked about the book was getting both his and her POVs. I absolutely love that in my romance books!
I just might add the "To Serve and Protect" novels to my TBR list...

When Attorney Nita Reynolds believes she is going to die, she does the one thing she has fantasized about for three years, calls Detective Craig Walker and asks him out with the full intention of taking him to bed.

Craig cant believe his luck, having asked out the feisty lawyer twice he figured the chances were slim she would break her no cop rule. The night turns out to be as good as he hoped, until he realizes she thought she was dying and it was the only reason they went out.

I thought this was a perfect quickie, had enough content that you felt like you were getting a full story not just a teaser. Definitely going to check out more of Norah Wilson's work.

Wow. Depth, detailed, realistic, funny, well written and an odd romance that all just works. The combination ends up being an excellent short story. A very memorable couple, for sure. I love the thoughtfulness and touch of realism from the author. I love the way this was written. I love it. :-)

Defense Attorney Nita gets a bad call from her doctor and decides to call the one man she's wanted, Craig. For the past three years she's let her career come before her desire for the detective. Well, no more. But what will happen if Craig discovers the reason she's called? What about Nita's health?

Great story! Highly recommended!

This novella is a good-natured, lusty romance with a twist. Thinking she has a life-threatening disease, Nita, a hard-nosed lawyer, decides to experience the one thing she has been fantasizing about - "doing" gorgeous Detective Craig Walker!

Of course, you guessed it and things take a turn...

Both characters are likeable, their sexual escapades well-written and not so over-the-top to be squirm inducing :)

I read N/Nita in about an hour before I got up this morning and found it a fun way to start the day! lol

This is a hot, short and sweet read that takes you into the life of Nita as she learns that she has a brain tumour. She decides that she is going to live what life she has to the full and makes a move on a detective that she has had her eye on for a couple of years but wouldn't do anything about it before for various reasons.

The rest of the story is fast-paced and sexy as hell. The detective, Craig, is a very well written main male as even in a novella he comes across nicely.

Looking forward to the rest of the Serve and Protect series.

I've been getting loads of the free Kindle stories because I figure it doesn't matter if I like them or not because they haven't cost me anything. This was okay, very quick to read as it isn't very long. I guess it would be hard to really make you get sucked in by a story when its so short. Perfect for when you've got a spare 15 minutes but don't have a novel on the go. Also a good way for you to find new authors because it gives you a little taste of their style.

I really enjoyed this novella about a lawyer that discovers she is dying of a brain tumor so she decides to give in to the desires she has suppressed for 3 years for hot Det. Craig Walker. This novella was well written with good character development. I hate a HEA that feels rushed. At least the author established that these two had been crazy about each other and just denied the chance to act on it. This was my first book by Norah WIlson but It won't be the last.

I really had fun reading this. I liked the characters, emotions, humor and the plot. There were some good steamy scenes too. This was a fun quick read that's pretty much great for reading anytime. I would read this again, definitely a keeper. I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of the series. (Great Kindle freebie that obviously hasn't been exposed yet or it wouldn't be free) Enjoy and have fun!

Really liked this one. It was a romance and erotica rolled into one neat package. Both the hero and heroine have a thing for each other, but work gets in the way. Then the heroine gets a bit of news that has her changing her mind. Loved the storyline, the flow and the sex scenes. Very well done.

Got it as a freebie on Kobo. I like that it was a Canadian setting, even if it's just really by name only. It's a short story so a lot of the build-up to the MC's story is told so as a reader, I have to quickly buy into it, which I did enough to like the MCs and get their emo side (the steam didn't hurt either:p). So this tells me that Ms. Wilson's writing works just fine with me.

I really liked Needing Nita. It was cute and entertaining. The attention to detail was excellent. It was nice to find out how the Detective felt about things and not just get Nita’s viewpoint.

The character development in this story is quite in depth. You get to know a great deal about the main characters, their lives, and their histories.
