VOWED is book #7 in the Bestselling series THE VAMPIRE JOURNALS, which begins with TURNED (Book #1), a free download on Amazon with over 600 five star reviews!

In VOWED (Book #7 of the Vampire Journals), Caitlin and Caleb find themselves in medieval Scotland, in 1350, a time of knights and shining armor, of castles and warriors, of the quest for the Holy Grail said to contain the key to true vampire immortality. Landing on the shores of the ancient Isle of Skye, a remote island off the Western coast of Scotland where only the most elite warriors live and train, they are ecstatic to reunite with Sam and Polly, Scarlet and Ruth, a human king and his warriors, and with all of Aiden’s coven.

Before they can continue their mission for the fourth and final key, the time has come for Caleb and Caitlin to wed. Against the most amazing backdrop Caitlin could ever hope for, an elaborate vampire wedding is planned, including all of the ancient rituals and ceremonies that accompany it. It is the wedding of a lifetime, meticulously planned by Polly and the others, and Caitlin and Caleb are happier than they’ve ever been.

Simultaneously, Sam and Polly, to their own surprise, are each falling deeply in love with one another. As their relationship accelerates, Sam surprises Polly with a vow of his own. And Polly surprises him with her own shocking news.

But all is not well beneath the surface. Blake has appeared again, and his deep love for Caitlin might just threaten her union, on the day before her wedding. Sera has appeared again, too, and vows to break apart what she cannot have.

Scarlet, too, finds herself in danger, as the source of her deep powers are revealed—along with the revelation of who are her true parents.

Worst of all, Kyle has landed back in time, and has tracked down his old protégé, Rynd, to force him to use his shapeshifting skill to trick and kill Caitlin and her people. As they fall into his elaborate trap, Caitlin and the others find themselves in deeper danger than ever before. It will be a race to find the final key, before everyone Caitlin holds dear is wiped out for good. This time, she will have to make the hardest choices and sacrifices of her life.

Honestly, this series is starting to get more boring than funny. Hopefully, the next few books will be a bit more ridiculous and entertaining. Here's the spoiler list, as usual:

- Sam literally manifests Polly back to life after she briefly dies. Later, she dies again and Sam becomes possessed by the evil spirit of Kyle, who he killed in a vengeful rage. Sam is potentially now the main villain of the series

- RIP Kyle, my psycho angst king

- RIP Polly, the only character with a sliver of personality

- Sera also dies. Again. Rice seems to have forgotten the first time Sera died, but I didn't

- Caleb's brother Samuel (not to be confused with Caitlin's brother Sam or Sam's ex Samantha) shows up and dies. I'm pretty sure he already died, but maybe I'm misremembering. I'll give Rice the benefit of the doubt on this one, but I won't always be so generous

-
[...] he was realizing that he had stronger feelings for Polly than he ever realized.

- Sam is constantly trying to protect Polly, even though she is a vampire and has been a vampire for WAY longer than him. He is still a teenager. He's been a vampire for like a month. She's been a vampire for at least a few hundred years and has lived with a coven that literally trains for combat the entire time

- Sera and Kyle have sex even though he's grotesque and also literally murdered her child. She thinks that her sleeping with Kyle will be the biggest insult to Caleb, who she's trying to get back at for marrying Caitlin. I'm not sure why she thinks this, given that Caleb hates both of them already. She then sleeps with a Scottish king to persuade him to help them kill Caleb and Caitlin. She didn't actually have to sleep with him because he just wanted to become a vampire, but alas

-
"I'LL PAY ANY PRICE!" Sam leaned back and screamed to the waves. The scream seemed to rise into the heavens, and as it did, it was echoed back by a flock of birds, flying overhead."

Did the birds repeat his exact scream like parrots (they are in Scotland right now, and I don't know of any birds in Scotland that can mimic human speech)? Or did his scream echo off each little bird body? So many questions

- Blake is back. Caitlin still has never told Caleb about him, if I recall correctly. He saves Caitlin's daughter, Scarlet, and he says that he "had fallen in love with Scarlet." I believe Rice meant to say that he was fond of her, but the wording implies pedophilia. I sure hope he didn't imprint on her

- Blake sends Scarlet to Caitlin with a message that he still loves Caitlin, which Caleb overhears. Given that he doesn't know who this guy is and that's his wife he's talking about, you'd think he would potentially ask Caitlin what's going on, especially since she has a stroke every time a woman is within 100 feet of Caleb, but he never does

- Caitlin might be growing as a person, as she actually realized that she was overreacting a bit when Caleb told her that Sera spoke with him. She never apologizes to Caleb though, she just pats herself on the back

- Vampires can get pregnant if one of them is ~*special*~

- Scarlet is attacked by wolves and bitten. I thought Rice was introducing werewolves into the series, which is rather late in the game. I was wrong. Scarlet has apparently always been a vampire, which makes no sense. Are vampires born and grow up or are they made? Are they a supernatural creature or a fantasy race? Explain yourself, Morgan!

- Scarlet is also the literal child of Caitlin and Caleb. It turns out that she was yeeted out of Caitlin's womb when she went into the past that first time, and that's why Caitlin ~*felt a connection*~ to her and kidnapped her from the streets of London

- When Scarlet is attacked by wolves, Ruth, the second wolf pup, fights back but seems to die. A few chapters later, she is randomly alive and it is retroactively explained that Caitlin used healing magic on her

- They're in Scotland to get the Holy Grail, which is also about vampires, as all religious or magical items and concepts are in this universe

I read this whole series due to the cheap price on the e-books. The series started out okay, but slowly went down hill as the series continued. The author has drug this series on way too long and seems to have run out of ideas to make the books unique. The last 4 books have the same main story line with a different city as the backdrop. The villains are the same through every book and the main characters of the books fall for the same stuff over and over and the same drama plays out. Certain aspects of the books are not making sense any longer (example: The time travel thing. The rules that she laid out for time travel in the first place seem to no longer apply and Caitlin finds the same people no matter where or when she is). I was hoping that she would wrap this series up and give us something new with this book, but alas, she didn't. I couldn't finish this book as the writing seemed to get worse and I couldn't stomach yet another book of nothing new. I will not be reading book 8.

Wow...I'm in love with this book. ( I hate having to wait for the next one to come out, I mean come on!)

When my wife told me this book came out, I had to read it straight away. At first it made me think of how the series started and to look back I feel like I walked every step with the main characters Celeb and Caitlin.

The 7th book packs a punch in the story line, then it comes with a sucker punch that you never see coming. It makes me really want to tell everyone what happens like It literally is bursting to come out.

With the last book I found a new way to read these books which makes it fun. On Every other chapter you get to read from another characters perspective, It was too confusing when it was , Caitlin, Celeb, Sam and Kyle. Now they are all together except for Kyle, I skipped those chapters so I'm totally in the dark just as Caitlin and the rest find out. It adds to the wow impact.

So come chapter 3#+ When action starts you get blown away by whatever evil plan they came up with.

If you want after you read the book like that go back and just read the Kyle's chapters.

(this trick will only work for book 6 and 7. Book 8 it wont be possible to do this ...because of the SUCKER PUNCH plot twist.

It's great writing by the author.

The only thing that brings the book down, is the bad editing job. There is lots of little errors through out the book still.

One rough example,
"Cailtin goes to the window to gather her thoughts after the most wonderful night she ever had. She felt Celeb behind her and her soft hands on her shoulders."

IT should be She felt celeb behind her and HIS soft hands...

many times mid sentences it reoccurred of this type of mistake,it happens frequently that it can put you off track and make you have to re-read, what you've just read just to get the story straight. Otherwise They are doing a lot of strange things to their selves.

on E-book format there is tiny little numbers that mixed in with the letters. I realized this is the page number that should be at the top. However when it does get mixed in it stops you reading key words at times. Stopping you from being able to understand and just have to guess it.

My final words/thoughts...Hurry up with book 8 already!

I decided to make a quiz for this book 10 questions well 9 and 1 fun one. If you like to take it take the quiz

As always I loved the book & couldn't put it down. I loved all the new twists & turn outs, I can't however give it a wonderful review as I normally would. :(

There were so many spelling/grammatical errors, & no consistency with the previous books in the series.

Such as...

They didn't need the eye drops or the skin protector. Or was it purposely left out for some unknown reason???
And why was it said that it was not possible for Vampires fly on the island of Skye, yet Sera flew there? (Not to mention she was evil & had no invitation nor was there any mention of her having to do any "test" to get on the isle). So many other times it mentioned other vampires flying off the island.
(Personally, I think it would have read much better had there been some kind of uproar among the kings men if they'd argued about being turned themselves before fighting.....)

Way too much inconsistency!

I KNOW Morgan does better than this!!!

A terrible book. I wish I could give it zero stars. The characters and plot has been used so many times at this point. I am sad to say they go back in time again. This book made me angry. To say finally, I’ll read the others to finish these books but I will hate every character, plot and word held on the pages. I pray you don’t read this book.

Shorter than the previous few books of the series which actually might have helped the overall story. There were times the overall same thoughts and scenes played out in this book but a lot fewer times did it occur and when it did not for the same length that it did in the previous books. Maybe in the decrease in page length was dude to her cutting out all the repeated items that she added so often in the books before. If you have nothing new to say then get to the point of the matter.

I found this book to be better than the last few simply because there were differences. Yes it was the same question she has been on for the last 4 books but it wasn't all the same.

The addition of Scarlett has also helped for variation in the story. There is another view point and person to share in the story line.

Almost love triangle issues in this one but they came and went without anything happening. Woot!! Also there was more rational thinking occurring for some characters for some situations. (A little character growth.)

And finally, some much needed change of story line in regards to the bad guy.

Still overall a very poorly written and not that wonderful series but better than the last few. 😂

I think any other author who wrote this series could and would have done 100 times better than morgan rice. it is a great story, but poorly written and with way too many inconsistencies. every chatector "dnt believe it" was "in shock" everything was the "most beautiful and opulent thing they have ever seen". her descriptive words leave so much to be desired. every single castle is the most opulent and the most beautiful than any building/castle/church they have ever seen. well, you just said that is the past 7 books, so I don't really take stock into what you say! and Polly! the first Book, she was an orphan and had never left pollepel and never knew her family, ever, not all of a sudden she remembers conversations with her great great grandmother? come on! morgan rice can't even keep her own stories straight. that's just one example! and she has ni idea how time travel works, obviously! and changes her own rules when it suits her. stay consistent! like I said, any other other this series would be great, but morgan rice cannot do it!

Caitlin and Caleb are now in Scotland and travelling to medieval castles. We get a wedding and a betrothal but things are troubled for our heroes. Polly and Sam are together but only briefly. Lots of death and betrayal from Kyle, Rynd and Calebs demented ex cursed the couple. They find yet another key and are still in search of her father.

We are in Skye Scotland, where vampires and humans appear to get along together.
Here a wedding takes place, but so does treachery and a villainous act, that sees the vampire sect almost wiped out.
Luckily the two scavenger hunters are away looking for the fourth key.

In my opinion the books in this series get better and better with each one I read. I'm very interested to see what happens next. I only wish Caitlin had more faith in the Caleb's love for her. She is just a little too self-conscience for me at times. However, she is a great character and this is an amazing book series.

The 7th book in the Vampire Journals saved the series for me. Betrothed (#6) was pretty tough to get through and had me wondering why I was still following Caitlin and Caleb on this journey to meet a father she has never even seen. Yet Vowed made me glad that I stuck with it. Yes I still think that the places that she visits seems to take precednece over the actually journey but I will say I am learning something about history and added a couple places I would like to visit now.

I like the journey on the Isle of Skye. I think the ending is what made the book. It is alot of sadness and death but I really think it is really going to set the scene for the next book. Showing that you will have to scarifice a lot in your life to get to the destination that you want is something this author is really good at. I am excited to see the growth in Scarlet as a vampire and let me tell you this father better be one of the best characters I read this series or I am going to be really upset.

I won this book through Goodreads first read program. As a result I read the first 6 volumes and will read the final volume in the near future.

In this volume Caitlin, Caleb and company travel back in time to 1350 Scotland to find the final key which will allow Caitlin to find her father and obtain the vampire shield.

The first 2/3 of this volume deal with the wedding of Caitlin and Caleb. As a result I can see where this would be the favorite volume of many teenage girls. Not following into that category I found this part on the dull side. The book picks up in the final 100 pages. Polly and Sam are in love but they find out their future will not be what they desire. This gets played out here. A battle of evil v. good results in the death of my charecters but my guess is that they will show up in the final volume as a result of traveling back in time.

Interested in finding out who Caitlin's father is and how Rice will end this series.
