The hero and heroine from the award winning novel BLUE MOON, Jessie McQuade and Will Cadotte, return in a short adventure. Sent to a small Wisconsin town to investigate a sudden rash of insanity, Jessie and Will meet a mad scientist who has invented a new kind of werewolf--one that silver can't kill.
Lori Handeland is a five-time nominee and two-time winner of the prestigious RITA Award from Romance Writers of America, as well as the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over sixty novels spanning the genres of paranormal romance, urban fantasy, contemporary romance, historical romance and historical fantasy.
After a quarter-century of success and accolades, she began a new chapter in her career with her women’s fiction debut, Just Once (Severn House, January 2019), which received a coveted, starred review from Library Journal and was optioned as a feature film by Catalyst Global Media.
Lori lives in Southern Wisconsin with her husband of over thirty-five years. In between writing and reading, she enjoys long walks with their rescue mutt, Arnold, and visits from her two grown sons, awesome daughter-in-law and perfectly adorable grandchildren.
Edward Mandenauer, the head of the Jager-Suchers, makes a personal appearance at the home of Jessie McCade & Will Cadotte to order them to check out the village of Riverview, WI. It seems that half of the residents have gone insane in the last few months repeating a word over and over again; Boxenwolf.
For those who can't recall, Jessie and Will lead off the Nightcreature series in Blue Moon. It was really nice to revisit with them as they investigate a situation we hadn't yet encountered in the series so far.
If you haven't read any of the books in this series yet here's your chance to try it out with very little investment on your part. This Urban Fantasy Romance series mainly deals with hunting werewolves and involves some other areas of myth and magic. I enjoyed the fact that I could read this without buying an entire anthology.
short, left you wanting more. it was like biting into a piece of chocolate cake that looked more chocolatity then it tasted. if this was my first exposure to the night creature books i would have stopped reading them. for 99 cents it was an ok time filler. I have read all of Lori's Night Creature books and have enjoyed most of them very much, especially the earlier ones. If this is your first exposure, don't give up - go to the full length books
I really liked this quick little short, it let us re-visit some great characters from the first book. I like the new wolves that they had to investigate. For some reason the clinic parts made me laugh.
When Will and Jessie are sent in an assignment, the werewolves are in danger. Their love has made them react as one. Even a mad scientist is no match for them.
This was like a little mini-episode where Jessie and Will go to a town where people are going crazy and muttering the word "werewolf" in German. They go, they find the villain, they defeat him very quickly and we're done. There really was very little that happened here, nothing in the least related to their romance and there wasn't really that much action. Take it or leave it, you really don't need to read this to complete or understand the series.

This is a ‘very’ short story about a mission Edward sends Jessie & Will on. The problem is taken care of so quickly that it’s almost unbelievable. Most of the time they spend thinking over how wonderful their relationship is. But it is a brief glimpse into what’s been happening with them.
Fave Scenes: confronting Edward and the return of the residents.
This was a very very short story about a new creation of werewolf species. Will & Jessie are called to handle a case at an insane asylum. Pretty good, but could have been an added chapter to their individual book.
This is a Jessie and Will short. They are sent to Riverview to investigate "Boxenwolves". This has ALL the things you expect from a full length Nightcreatures Novel in a shortened tale. I enjoyed it and while it was very short, I didn't feel too rushed.
