A lame 96 pages one-shot tie-in set in the same universe of Paul Anderson's AVP: Alien vs Predator (2004) flick.

Totally forgot I purchased this volume when it was released four years after the movie, and not remembering anything at all about it, I'm probably going to forget it again in a few days.

Totally skippable, even for die-hard AVP completists.

'Nuff said.

This is something that came out years ago and I missed it when it was new. I never thought I'd get a chance to read any of this series, but someone bought it for the group comics app that I'm part of. I was looking for something to read, but didn't know what I wanted. I just decided to search the A's for something to read and stumbled upon this.

Roger Robinson is the artist for the series. Another person, whose name escapes me right now, drew 2 of the 96 pages. Their contribution isn't much. So, I'll focus on Robinson's art. The art in this book is horrible. Robinson's idea of detail in clothing, faces and the environment are parallel lines. Most of the time these lines are horizontal. How many times have you ever seen a person that the wrinkles in their face looked like = ? The same holds true for pants and shirts except there are many parallel horizontal lines stacked upon each other. It looks like he was trying to draw a ladder on each article of clothing, but forgot to add the vertical line on each side of the steps in the ladder. Occasionally, a face or two would look decent in an extremely close view, but then you might go another 5-8 pages of abysmal art before getting to another panel that was half decent. Art gets 1 star.

Mike Kennedy writes a story that easily could have been a Michael Bay movie. Or even one of the AVP movies. There isn't much substance there. Just some mindless killing. You don't get to see enough of the humans to know what their motivations are or really any of their story at all. They're just simply on a planet that has both Aliens and Predators on it. Why are the creatures there? Don't know that either. Maybe later on in the series some of that will be filled in. I don't really care though. Writing gets 2 stars.

The average of the writing and art scores is a 1.5 star total rating for the book.I definitely won't be spending any money on this series. I don't even know if I'll read volume 2 of this if someone else adds it to the app.

This was okay, but that's about it. Normally if you put Aliens and Predator together in a story half the work is done, but this time it didn't work so well. It seemed like not much happened, and there wasn't a whole lot of Alien vs. Predator action. It just didn't click for me, although I like the characters enough it was still worth a read. If you're a big Alien and/or Predator fan it's worth a look, but if you only have casual interest in the characters this one probably won't impress you.

Genuinely didn’t expect this to be that good and I was pleasantly surprised

Generic and joyless SF cage match with a couple of cute ideas (the notion of a digital dark age putting the kibosh on space colonisation was handled better in the Traveller: The New Era RPG) and no likable or even clearly discernible characters. Even if you've never read this before , you've read this before.

Thrill of the Hunt was okay, not great. The art was fine for trying to capture the tone. I found the story to be be forgettable.

This AvP story ties in the with movie, barely. There's a familiar pyramid, this time on another planet in the future.
Apart from that, this is a vague retelling of the original Aliens Vs Predator graphic novel (Prey) and not done nearly so well. The artwork makes it clear which character is which (each time someone's bumped off I think it's one of the brothers).

No actual AvP in this volume, maybe that comes later in the series.
The humans are complete pieces of shit so I didn't care about them in the least.
The art is ok, but sometimes I don't know what I'm looking at and everyone looks the same so I don't know who we're focusing on.

Story moves at fast pace, no time to breath or care about characters.

Not a bad AVP book, nothing spectacular but serviceable enough.

Not bad, just not good. Just a quick little one shot comic. Characters are plain, message was generically edgy and really didn’t matter. Art wasn’t particularly impressive either. Honestly I must admit I regret buying this comic and I highly suggest people skip this unless you are looking for a complete collection.

This graphic novel was released as a tie-in to the Alien vs. Predator movie, and I guess it had a secondary objective of smoothing over some of the continuity differences between the movies and the comics but it wasn’t really too heavy-handed about that and I can’t say I even really noticed much of that. As an AVP comic it’s not much to write home about? Humans explore a planet for some greedy money reason, once it becomes obvious that there’s Aliens (and Predators! oh my!) there, they want to blow them all up so they can continue with their plans to make money off of it. One lady is going to file a report to stop them from doing that, so they decide they want her dead, but one guy protects her. Aliens and Predators show up and fuck shit up, and that’s about it. I guess it was cool seeing the same kind of temple as in the movie in comic form? But the action and story of the comic was just extremely so-so.

Oh I did get a bit lowkey horny when one of the fucking asshole guys (I couldn’t and didn’t care to tell them apart) was droning on and on at the beginning of the comic about hunting and dominance and hierarchies, though. I think that kind of thinking is bullshit but it can be kinda hot.

This read like a poor imitation of the original Alien Vs Predator comic, right down to the extended moralistic discussion between two characters as they approached the planet where the action was all set to take place. Once there, the reader is confronted by artwork that made distinguishing between characters difficult, confusing action scenes, shifting character motivations - seemingly for no reason at all - and an end to the graphic novel that left things completely up in the air.

Very disappointing.

This graphic novel is a sequel to the film, set long after our alien friends tangled on Earth. In this tale, foolish humans repeat the mistakes of the past. Written by Mike Kennedy, pencils by Roger Robinson with Dustin Weaver, and inks by James Pascoe with Randy Emberlin. The small size of the book doesn’t do the artwork justice.

Published in trade paperback by Dark Horse Comics.

Doesn't deliver. I was expecting lots of Predator vs Alien punchup (slashup?!), gratuitous xenoform clawing, biting and a great thrill of a hunt - but instead there's just humans talking, talking, talking. Give me my 10 minutes back. I won't say this too often: But the AvP movie was a lot better.

I had some trepidation in picking up this title as it's so obviously a movie tie in and they were such a steaming pile, but it is more a sequel and a fascinating one at that. Once again proving that Dark Horse has far better writers and executives than Fox.
