In his life, C.S. Lewis received thousands of letters from young fans who were eager for more knowledge of his bestselling Narnia books and their author. Here are collected many of his responses to those letters, in which he shares his feelings about writing, school, animals, and of course, Narnia. Lewis writes to the children - as he wrote for them - with understanding and respect, proving why he remains one of the best-loved children's authors of all time.
A must read for every Lewis lover. The letters are arranged chronologically. There are several different recipients and the ones he wrote to the same children over a number of years are very impactful. It is impressive how seriously he takes the children’s thoughts and questions. My favorite were the letters to the children who sent him their writings and Lewis responded with stark criticism (but in a kind way).
This book is exactly what the title says it is: letters C.S. Lewis wrote to children. Lewis had many young fans, particularly of the Narnia series, and he endeavored to respond to all of the letters these you fans wrote to him. Most we about Narnia, but some had also read the Space Trilogy and other works.
What I found most interesting was Lewis' favorite of all the books he had written was Till We Have Faces. He also listed out other books that influenced him, such as Voyage to Arcturus. I took copious notes and have a list of books to look for!
