Our goal is to bring hope, joy and laughter to children fighting cancer and other terminal illnesses. We write picture books for children and their siblings depicting them as the heroes and heroines they really are. Whether they are braving the pouring rain, or being part of a heroic Search and Rescue team, or learning sign language to befriend a lonely girl, our stories carry messages of strength, love, compassion and courage. To personalize the messages, the main characters’ names are those of the children who are living with and fighting their diseases. Included in the short stories are these brave youngsters’ favorite foods, their dreams and their aspirations. We want to give the children an opportunity to live through the stories we create for them.

Hope is precious. Let’s share it.

Originally forewarned this novella was written with a Biblical undertone, I wasn't quite sure where M.A. Drake would take his rendition of the beginning of Creation. Bloody and gruesome, the story of Cain builds upon the moment he kills his brother, Abel, with the Dagger of evil that has leached to his soul. After being cast out by God, Cain travels the lands with the Dagger's mission to kill and destroy all evil. Drake delicately balances Cain's personality between the morbid killer and the sensitive soul. Cain spends his entire lifetime battling the connection with the evil possessive Dagger and his original heart of goodness given to him by God. I was impressed with the flow of this novella as well as its ability to allow the reader to form a sense of sympathy with the main character, the first documented murderer in the Bible.

This book is twisted, but amazing. We follow Cain's journey out of the Garden and find out why he struck down his brother in this blasphemous re-make of a classic biblical story. I couldn't put it down and I am eager for book two, which he won't let me read until he publishes it.
