Though born in Mesa, Arizona, he has spent most of his life in Missouri. He graduated high school in Lebanon, Missouri. His mother was a special education/reading teacher and his father was a police officer, and though they divorced when Sean was very young he remains close with both his parents. He has two brothers and no children, but he has a very large extended family in the Ozark region (Mountain View/West Plains Missouri region) and Southern Arizona (Eloy/Casa Grande area).

After high school, Sean attended college at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri for a time before dropping and going to work for a TV station in Springfield, Missouri. After a time, he returned to college and graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, minor in Philosophy. He holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Pittsburg State University (Pittsburg, Kansas) in 2005.

After college, Sean naturally gravitated towards social work and investigative work, eventually settling with a job investigating allegations of abuse and neglect of disabled adults and seniors for the Missouri Department of Heath and Senior Services. Sean began working on the first book in the series in November of 2008, while still working full time for the State of Missouri. Though Sean has been writing most of his life, he claimed (as per his blog) that he did not consider writing professionally until he was inspired to do so by a terrible vampire movie. During the film, Sean amused himself by imagining the vampires being attacked by a dragon. Sean has remarked on his blog that he often does this when bored or annoyed with a film--though sometimes he uses Vikings, zombies, or Cthulhu in place of dragons.

His literary influences include H.P. Lovecraft, Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris, George R.R. Martin, Robert E. Howard, and R.A. Salvatore, among others. In addition to writing, Sean enjoys watching and reading science fiction, fantasy, horror, and thrillers. His hobbies include playing Xbox, fantasy role playing games and collecting firearms. Sean's background in sociology, criminology, and philosophy are heavy influences on his work, as well as his experience as an investigator (former) for the State of Missouri.

Let me tell you what I love. Men, like - sexy, manly men, written by men! Once you meet Garrett Terago you'll be like Christian who? Edward huh? lol He's everything a man should be: strong, driven, determined and oh, so sexy! I loved this book, I'm on a dragon kick thanks to my own take on dragons coming out in Dec, and found these to be a little more traditional (like dragons as you picture them in your head who can shape shift) and liked that Sean was able to make these creatures of legend so human. Have I convinced you yet? Here's my favorite line from the book:

"But a human woman...when you open one of them it changes something inside."

Um, yeah. That's what I thought. ;)

I enjoyed this book a lot. The opening scene was so great I kept reading and loving this book more and more. It’s a great mix of mythology (vampires and dragons) and explicit eroticism.

Megan and Garrett are great characters, and though the chapters about dragons were great, I enjoyed the chapters with Meg and Garrett the most.

It was also quite satisfying to find out that the author had decided to make vampires into much more inferior beings than dragons. Loved the scene where Garrett fights MacDuvall.

Definitely a qualitative read!

*Many thanks to Wendy Russo for purchasing an ecopy of this book for me!*

This is lovely. Each character is well crafted and layered, making me read well into the night.
And it never stopped! Mr. Poindexter is magic - weaving layer upon layer of individual character stories into one satisfying read. From action to fantasy to romance, each emotion is threaded through for a truly gratifying novel.

I've actually created a new 'shelf' because of this series from Mr. Poindexter. It's definitely a keeper! I may pass along other books once I've finished reading them, I may even donate books to our local library's book sale occasionally. But this one? Go get your own, I'm not lending you mine!

Megan, the heroine, is entirely believable. She's not the prettiest girl in the world. She's smart, but not a genius. She has issues with dating and issues with men, and she's not 'pure as the driven snow'. She has a job that matters to her for which her degree and level of work experience actually would qualify her... Sorry, that's a pet peeve of mine. I can't stand it when characters have jobs that they could never get with the degree and experience they're supposed to have. She has a cute boss she considered dating but never asked out. She thinks her roommate is prettier - or at least 'hotter' - than she is because she's got bigger boobs. Admit it, we've all compared ourselves to our friends and felt lacking. She's perfectly ordinary, and because of that the reader can empathize with her and see ourselves thrown into the extraordinary circumstances she finds herself in.

Garret, the hero, is smoking hot - sometimes literally. He's rich as Croesus, tall, dark, handsome... and a dragon. I won't spoil the rest of the book by telling any more!

The plot is solid and the story is well-told. The romance in this book is sweet and tender without being gooey with saccharin-sweet sentimentality. The sex scenes are hot without being disgusting and tawdry or filled with God-awful purple prose euphemisms. To be honest, and speaking from *delightful* experience, the sex scenes are accurate for sex with an 'above average' guy - there's some wear and tear and such! The fight scenes are exceptionally well done - and by that I mean that the fight choreography and physics (well, given that they're dragons) actually work, a lovely relief from many fantasy-genre and romance-genre fights in which you simply have to skim over the fights as highly unrealistic and rather stupid.

The only points I had were quite minor. As an editor, my red pen itched over a few minor typos, spell check errors, and misplaced apostrophes, and while I don't have a problem with profanity (I, personally, swear fit to make a sailor blush with shame), there *is* profanity in this book. As someone who regularly swears, I find that the profanity used is used in natural speech rather than thrown in to make sex scenes 'hotter'. Personally, I prefer characters who are going to use profanity to be dealt with this way.

I have never been to the Joplin area, the only place I have been in Missouri, more than just in passing is St. Louis. My guess is Joplin probably is not filled with dragons, and there are probably not vampires in Scottish, but after reading The Shadow of Tiamat I would be willing to argue the contrary. Sean Poindexter manages to capture a fantasy and make it real.

I have to admit I was a skeptic at first. I mean dragons? What can you do with dragons? Me? I probably could not do much. But he can. By the end of the second chapter I could not, and would not, put the book down. His characters are so in depth they come alive before your very eyes. I could swear I have known Garret Terago and Meg Crunk my entire life.

The book is very well written, not a dry spot on one page, which surprised me. Usually there is at least one spot in a book where you go “Okay can we get past this already?” but I didn't find myself doing that. Not once. The battle scenes are fierce, the love scenes a fiery passion, the plot is in depth, and the entirety of the novel will leave you always wanting more, always wanting to know what is going to happen next. I read it in less than 48 hours, I slept less than I should have, and probably should have had more to eat and drink, but I was so immersed that I just couldn't put it down.

I have read too many books to count, but only a handful have been able to tug at my emotions and alter my mood, and even less have gotten me to cry. I have always said that a mark of a well written book is one that can move you to tears. And I never expected to be moved to tears over a dragon. In every chapter you can feel. The passion warms you, the malevolence angers; the tension will drive you mad. It’s one of the best books I've read in a long time, and the first to come alive in years. And I have to wrap this up because The Will of the Darkest One is calling my name. It’s well worth the time to read. And I promise you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking to read another fantasy novel with sparkly vampires or werewolf heartthrobs, then this is not your Goodread. However, if you seek a story with characters that demand your consideration, sex scenes that make you blush, and dragon battles that get your blood boiling, then Sean T. Poindexter's premier novel, The Shadow of Tiamat, is where your search ends. Poindexter has created a believable fantasy tale set in his hometown of Joplin, Missouri, riddled with suspense, action, and erotic romance, all told with seemingly effortless ease. He wastes no time in grabbing your attention, as Chapter 1 begins with a momentous conversation between his two main characters, Meg and Garrett. The story centers around the developing romance between these two, with peripheral tales of thousand year old dragon dramas, possible neighboring vampires, and Meg's fresh-from-college career in Child Protective Services. Though the novel focuses on the chronicle of Meg and Garrett's budding relationship, Poindexter weaves a parallel storyline featuring a coup that involves Garrett, somehow. Each page drips with intrigue, and the reader will find it difficult to focus on anything else until finishing the book. But The Shadow of Tiamat is just the beginning of a series; Poindexter's new novel, The Will of the Darkest One, (second in the Dragon's Blood Chronicles,) promises to continue the reader's thrill ride of action and romance....and dragons!

To start, I will say there are vampires in this book. They do wicked things. They walk in the sunlight. They don’t sparkle.

Tiamat opens with the main character, Megan, explaining to Garrett her reasons for thinking he was a vampire. He confirms that vampires do exist, but he’s not one. Then he confesses that he’s a dragon.

The second chapter rewinds a few weeks. Megan is a Joplin, Missouri, social worker, and there’s a recurrent head lice case in the nearby town of Scottish that she needs to follow up on. There she finds strange marks on the necks of the young girl and her mother’s live-in boyfriend. She takes a picture with her cel-phone. After seeing nothing to indicate additional problems in the house, she leaves. On her way out of town, she is pulled over by the chief of police, who expresses his disapproval with her unannounced visit to his town. She’s shaken when he lets her leave, attempts to pass a vehicle on corner, and plows into an oncoming motorcycle.

She is pulled out of the car by the rider, Garrett, who later offers her a $10,000 settlement for her injuries and the loss of her car. She invites him out to dinner. He reciprocates by flying her to Chicago for dinner. His attention is lavish, which she revels in, until her follow up on the Scottish case brings up information on vampires. She suspects one has been feeding on people in Scottish, but the information fits her new boyfriend as well.

After Garrett admits that he’s a dragon, and Megan doesn’t run away screaming, he takes her to special pair of doors in his massive mountain home. The doors open up into a cave and Garrett drops into the abyss, picking her up off the ledge after he shifts. Megan thinks the dragon is incredibly hot and the pair spends the next two days in bed.

Elsewhere in Tiamat’s world, vampires discuss the Meg problem. The chief of police in Scottish has been using his power of thrall to make humans forget things for years. He tries it twice with Meg, to no effect. Under normal circumstances, he would just kill her, but the other vampires make it clear to him that killing her is no longer an option. They, however, do not tell him why. Instead, he must publically discredit her before she can cause trouble.

And in an African desert, a number of dragons meet to talk business. An old dragon, Morrígu, refuses to take part in their plans to destroy mankind, and the others kill her. During the next few scenes, the very different personalities, and loyalties, of the dragons becomes clear…as does one’s need for Garrett Terago to be part of their plan, and the confusion others as to why.

Dragons are vain creatures, Garrett tells Meg. They are also prideful, and like snarling Rottweiler, very protective of things that are smaller and more fragile than they are. These three storylines collide with heavy consequences for Meg, her roommate Yvonne, and the little girl in Scottish.

Sean portrays Meg perfectly as a 20-something social worker with a frustrated sex life. She uses her feminine hygiene products twice, (which is twice more that I have included such a detail.) She bawls herself puffy and vomits at something utterly vile. She repeatedly compares her body to other women. When she’s injured, the effects last for days, even weeks. Meg is a grounded character that interacts with a tangible world, which helps balance out how amazing and unreal Garrett is.

Sex in this book goes on for pages. I decided to spend some time on the subject because some reviewers have found it excessive in terms of detail, length, and frequency. I found the language contemporary of erotica, a genre about which I am very picky. (I will warn you that Meg is very fond of her F-bombs.) I preferred his shorter scenes to the longer ones. However, the sex has an important purpose. First, as I mentioned previously, Meg’s sexually frustrated. Garrett appreciates beauty, but cannot create it. It’s a trait among dragons that leads them to hoards things that they find pretty. Meg is the newest beautiful thing he claims as his own; protecting her and making her happy become his reasons for living. The dragon can’t write poetry, but…he can curl her toes with a look, and he can climax on demand.

Second, the prolonged scene defines the nature of sex between these two characters in such a way that, afterward, Sean is able to maintain the passion between the two leads with the short scenes and simple mentions. So, even though I prefer shorter scenes, I can’t complain that much. Sean’s a multitasker; the scenes participate in character development and world building. For example, Garrett’s explanation to Meg about procreation and recreational sex among dragons is part of a getting-to-know-you-better conversation. But it also serves as a primer to behavior and interactions between other dragons in scenes all over the book that humans would find odd.

For readers who prefer violent battles to sex, Sean’s got your back, too. There’s spewing blood, breaking bones, ripping open of skulls to expose brain matter, and acid eating away flesh. When a guy hands the bartender an envelope of cash and tells him it’s for the mess, I expect someone to end up with jukebox pieces tangled in entrails, and I was not disappointed. All this together, plus an interesting supporting cast, stitched together with fluid prose, and The Shadow of Tiamat is one magnificent beast. The sequels are set up like little duckies at the carnival and I can’t wait to read them.

First and foremost, fantasy fiction is typically not my genre of choice. It takes an astounding fantasy to grab my attention. I am a fervent bibliophile, and my standards are high. :)

This was a great adult fantasy. It isn't the sappy or cheesy fantasy that is too common. It has depth and substance. The most profound aspect of this book/series, is that the characters are *so* well developed. They have a humanness, a realness, that stands out. They are not stilted or fictional. There is a natural chemistry between each character, within each relationship. They are alive and living. I found myself caring about what happens to them and what will happen. There are strong emotions that play out throughout, and the reader can't help but be pulled into it. This is rare to find in a fantasy novel, and it has been years since I have read one such as this.

As other reviews have probably pointed out, there *are* some really hot adult scenes. They are not trashy, or smutty. On the contrary they are very poetic, and nicely written. Again there is a naturalness to the flow. It is not forced. The scenes were not too vague nor too explicit. The writer really struck that perfect middle ground. And even more so, behind these scenes, there is a deep romance which happens. A romance that I find myself really falling into! I feel the love and connection between the two main characters, and most of all, even desiring to have such a beautiful relationship in real life. It is downright romantic. That is when you *know* the writer has captured your emotions. So it isn't random hot scenes, no, there is a strong passionate romance. In my opinion, that is the heart of the book, the romance and passion. One that has me eager to read the next in this series.

The plot is intriguing. One might ponder what can be done with dragons, or how can it be done well, and honestly, it was done well. It was neither too fantastical nor too dull. It is fantasy. There are mythical creatures. But it still remains real and well grounded. I don't want to reveal too much of the plot. The characters introduced are colorful, well developed, and the reader is left curious and fascinated to discover more about this or that character. In other words, as a reader, I am left wondering what happens next. Even the "villains", are not so villainous that you cannot relate, but perhaps can even see from their point of view. This always makes reading far more intriguing. The action scenes are also well done. The reader is able to follow them well, and fully appreciate the brutal fierceness behind it.

Overall, I strongly suggest this book. All types can really sink their teeth into it. Whether you like the hotness, the romance, the action, or the fantasy. It is all there. The writing is fluent, living, and highly engaging. I finished the book in just a few days because I was that drawn into it. I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series.

There is so much to this book to go on and on about! I LOVED IT!! Like wanting to read it again right now kind of loved it. The ending was a little abrupt, some would groan and be irritated with its cliff-hanger-ishness. I felt it would lead well to a next book…and wouldn’t you know THERE IS!!! I am so excited to get my hands on “The Will of the Darkest One!” But let me give you my brief take on "The Shadow of Tiamat"...

“In this story, your ‘prince’ is also a dragon.” Indeed it is! Megan Crunk, who goes by Meg, is your average everyday girl. Meg works for CPS (child protective services) and likes her job, which leads us to her meeting all of the interesting people of Joplin and the surrounding area. Chief MacDuvall, a hard ass chief of police, who makes Meg uncomfortable following her visit to check on a child in his town. While she is trying to get home she has an accident that changes everything for her.

Garrett Terago, who declares after the accident, “I’m not an angel.” Must be an angel as he appears to have no injuries from the accident and is helping Megan remain awake and tended too until help arrives. “I’m Garrett, and you don’t have anything to worry about.” Is the truest sentiment of the book I feel as it carried though out. Even after revealing his true form to her she was positive she would be safe with him. Mr. “Prince unbe-f’ing-lievably charming” “magnificent in the buff. Every inch of his skin was flawless, from the lean strips of muscles coiled around his chest and arms to the broad tip of his long, thick, uncircumcised….” OMG, I didn’t want it to stop!!

The other dragons are Morrigu, Garrett’s mother; Yomiko and Yor, twins which are rare and they are almost inseparable; Xyrus, a psychopath; Fraise, oldest and hates humans; Vritra, a lustful interest to Yomiko and doesn’t seem to be fully on board with Fraise. Anyway, there are a few others who are featured, but those are your fundamental heavy’s when it comes to family and foes of Terago.

Then we meet the highly erotic and sensual Aoni’a, and YES I would have been just like Meg!! (You have to read to understand but OMG!!) And how!! *sigh* “she was flawless, even by dragon standards.” I admired her unrepentant confidence in her actions and knowledge of her vanity. Near the end, her loyalty is to Terago and his mistress is something short of breathtaking.

I left Meg and Garrett with these words from Meg…
“A Princess,” she explained, giggling. “ A handsome prince rescued me from an evil dragon and brought me back to his castle.” ……. She smiled big. “It’s my story, and I can get rescued by a dragon prince if I want.”

Pick this up and you won’t be disappointed! The fight scenes are realistic and the love is breath-taking. (Oh, and I forgot to mention….there might be a vampire too! LOL)

The Shadow of Tiamat is a fantastic novel revolving around a war between feuding Dragons. It is a book of not merely love and heartfelt joy, but a tale of vile, fiendish villains and a strong, original hero. Filled to the brink with battle and courage, this is the first tale in a much larger vision from author Sean T. Poindexter.

CHARACTERS: 10/10

The characters in the story are well fleshed out, given many human-relatable characteristics to where the audience can even feel the same emotions as a dragon. The two heroes of the story are Garrett Terago and Megan Crunk, two unique individuals thrust together after a near-tragic collision. A meeting filled with humor, romance and lust. The villains, as well are well crafted, with each being uniquely mapped out for the reader in an original and detailed fashion, but I’ll leave their descriptions out to leave you with some mystery.

PLOT: 10/10

Without ruining anything, this is a love story and a war novel. It is a great original piece of writing in a game-changing way as The Lord of the Rings was. Peaking my interest in reading and reigniting my joy for it after many years without being able to finish a book, this story is a grabber and it holds you until the end.

WRITING: 10/10

The mindset of the characters are well revealed to the reader and the writing is descriptive and informing. Beautifully written with great care and detail, Poindexter is a writer to look out for after this captivating and intriguing novel.

OVERALL: 10/10

The novel is filled with many elements for a mature audience to read. Those with a strong mind and grand humor will most enjoy this tale of war and love. The ultimate bests and worsts of our world. Be ready to eclipse your mind with many great dealings and emotions as you go on this grand adventure with Garrett and Megan as the story unfolds before your eyes and within your mind. The Shadow of Tiamat is the first in a grand scheme of novels and I can’t wait for the sequel.

*Book source ~ A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Social worker Megan Crunk is traveling back from a home check when she creams Garrett Terago on his motorcycle. But instead of being dead, he’s very much alive. A bit tattered, but Megan is hurt worse and she had a car and airbags protecting her. Garrett is a mystery to her that only deepens when she starts digging into the community where she did the home check. Are there such things as vampires? Surely not. But Megan is about to find out the world is not what she thought it to be and her association with Garrett combined with her curiosity has landed her in the middle of a supernatural war.

The beginning of this story is a little confusing as it jumps in time, but once it settles down it gallops off at a steady pace. The characters are well-developed and while the storyline falters a bit in places, it nonetheless held my interest hostage. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. The heat between Megan and Garrett is off the charts, but I’m so afraid Megan is going to screw it up because Garrett is unable to express himself fully. He lacks creativity and it seems this lack bothers Megan. A lot. If she fucks things up because of that I will have to bitchslap her from one side of the country to the other. Seriously. Also, she says “’Kay” way too much. Stop it. Garrett is adorable. And hot. *drools a bit* Anyway, the author’s take on this world and the supernatural beings in it is a little different than I’ve read before and it’s quite interesting and refreshing. However, the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. As cliffhangers go though, this isn’t horrible. I’m dancing around, wanting the next book really bad. Like, right this instant. Because I’m dying (not literally) to know what’s up with Megan and why Garrett is so important in the Big Bad’s scheme. Bring on Book 2!

Wow! Completely blown away. This book is everything that I like to read all rolled into one! An urban fantasy, paranormal, erotic romance and thriller with graphic fight scenes painted in vivid descriptions...you name it, this book has it all. From fire breathing dragons, (and we’re not talking puff the magic dragon either) to vampires who are made of everything evil and everything a vampire should be, this book is a new favorite!

The characters - well fleshed out, very ‘real’ and with a distinct voice for each. I have read some books where the author changes the point of view to a character that doesn’t have a lot of ‘on-scene’ time and I find myself wishing they would just get back to the main character’s point of view, this was not the case here. Every character was unique and brought even more to this unbelievable story!

The plot - perfectly executed! I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I will just say, this is an amazing love story wrapped in a war between centuries old dragons! Sean revealed everything in perfect timing, always leaving me wondering what will happen next.

The writing - Beautifully written with great care to detail and descriptions! Sean painted a beautiful, vivid picture of the magnificent dragons and the world they live in.

Overall - I give this book a 5 star rating across the board. Like I said, this book is everything I love to read all rolled into one! I couldn’t put it down!

Sean Poindexter definitely left his mark in the paranormal world and I cannot wait for the next one.

Praise Tiamat and praise Sean T. Poindexter! -A sex scene writing prowess! :) Signed, LKHamilton fan!

I never finished this book I stopped at page 160.

The Shadow of Tiamat is the first book of a series that sounded really exciting and full of something completely original and gripping.
I mean, I was expecting a war between dragons and vampires to be the main theme in this novel. How wrong I was.

This novel is written in the point of view of a woman named Meg, who at first I found quite an interesting character, then gradually rapidly I changed my mind. Her character is needy and annoying and to be honest she came across as a males fantasy woman than an actual being, a lot of what she says/thinks is not realistic at all.

Garrett I found quite boring to read also, the only thing that kinda had my attention was he was a dragon, not that he really done much as a dragon anyway.

Over all I would say this book was more of an erotic fantasy novel due to the fact Meg is contantly dripping wet and wanting nothing more than sex (and this is the main theme in the pages I read.) And definitely not a exciting dragon series. I also found the writing to be quite amateur in the way it was written, I couldn't decide if this book was published by a publisher or Sean Pointdexter himself, but if its was through a publisher then he needs to find a better editor. And if it is self published well done for trying.

Im sure many people will enjoy this book, however the genre isn't to my taste as i dont care for sexually desperate protagonists and would much rather read the news paper.

If I was to rate what I read I would give 2 stars.

Sean Poindexter, author of The Shadow of Tiamat, combines fantasy and erotic romance to transport the reader into Garrett and Megan’s world. The dragons dazzle you, the vampires are detestable, and the regular folk are just regular folk working and living in ignorant bliss. Poindexter’s writing gives you incredible imagery and keeps a steady flow of thrills and spills with vibrant characters and rich scenes that keep you in it’s grip from beginning to end.

The only thing that really didn’t set well with me about this book was the explicit sex scenes, they were a little too explicit for my tastes. Sure, some gratuitous sex scenes are almost a given but this was over the top into graphic erotica. In my honest opinion the book would have been better served with a more passive approach to the love interests of the main characters. Yes, Garrett and Meg fell in love, but the reader doesn’t need an erotic play by play of their love making, just a nice romantic overview would do. This is definitely not a novel for under 18s.

If you are into erotic fantasy you’ll love it. Those that like fantasy and thrills will enjoy it, if you’re not into erotica just skip over the sex scenes and you’ll enjoy it even more. All in all a decent read and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, I’ll just skip over the erotica.

Sean Poindexter's narrative is wonderful. This book is hard to put down and is a very enjoyable read. I do like the fact that this is not your typica were-vamp novel. Then again, I'm partial to dragons. Sean does a great job bringing dragons into the paranormal genre. I am looking forward to seeing where he plans on going with this concept.

Being a student of ancient pagan cultures, I have to admit my interest was also due to the title of the book. I'm curious as to how Sean will weave Babylonian mythos into this.

The one thing that I found somewhat jarring in the novel, is how the plots were being laid out. Some of it seemed jarring and out of place and maybe could have been left out altogether (ie. the vampire Police Chief) as I wasn't sure why that needed to be there in the first place. The hints as to what Meg really could be reminds me of the whole Sookie being Fay. I'm hoping this will not be the case with Meg when I read further into the series. I AM thrilled with the plot line of the dragons and am really looking forward to seeing how that develops as I believe there is richness to be pulled from that.

If you love dragons, hot screaming sex, and a fun read, then pick up this great paranormal book.

My review of this novel is slightly mixed. Lots of graphic violence and lots of explicit sex in this one so definitely not one for the kiddies.

On the one hand you have a lovely CPS worker who is dating a sexy good-guy dragon, dragon bad-guys who want to annihilate the human race, and a couple of bad vampires thrown into the mix with lots of action, intrigue and romance. What's not to like? And I really did like this book overall and am left really wanting to know more about what Meg is. I would love to read the sequel.

But here's what I didn't like. Near the beginning where Megan and Garrett have their first sexual weekend together, I got the feeling that the author couldn't decide if he was writing a fantasy novel or a FANTASY novel - if you get my drift. For a while it was reading like some hard-core porn. I'm not a prude and don't mind some good sex scenes in a novel, but this seemed pretty extreme to me.

If you can get past that sexually explicit bit and get into the meat of the story though, I think you'll really enjoy this book like I did. And if you like your books graphic when it comes to sex - well that's even more to love.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to The Shadow of Tiamat early on and to watch the magic happen. Why do I tell you this? It is simple, I want you to know that this book and those to come are well worth the time and money you'll spend adding them to your collection so that you can read them over and over. Even though I was a beta reader of this book prior to publication it was still my first purchase on my new eReader.

The well-developed characters draw you into a setting so rich that you feel like you are there and if you're from the area it leaves you wondering how you've never wandered into Scorch Hollow. Without saying too much, I will say that I find it refreshing each time I find a book that evokes a myriad of emotions and reminds me that I shouldn't judge anyone, not even a story book character, by my first (or even second) impression and this book does that each time I read it.

I really enjoyed this book. The story moves, the characters are unique and interesting, and I was intrigued by the secondary characters in this book. The world building is superb and the characters are compelling. I was particularly caught on the character Max. Poindexter leaves the reader with both a satisfying conclusion and some intriguing questions that will undoubtedly be answered in subsequent works.

That said, it's important to mention that this is a book for adults. There is a lot of graphic violence, and the sexual situations border on erotica at several points in the story. I walked into this book expecting a romance. I soon realized that this is a gritty, smart fantasy written by a no-holds barred author. If you'll pardon the pun, it's downright fiery.

Congratulations, Mr. Poindexter, on an interesting and entertaining debut!

Wow. This book was surprising on a couple of fronts. The first being--wow, I like dragons! LOVED the hero. He's strong, loyal, sexy all rolled up into a bundle of piping hot dragon!!!! Sean Poindexter really captured him well. The story was unique, too. I've never read about dragons and now I'm anxiously awaiting book two!!! The second surprise was the love story. Just a heads up, the love scenes in this book are graphic, so be warned. In some cases it was a bit too descriptive for my taste, but that's just personal preference. But the love story was great. I enjoyed how it developed and the intensity of the bond between the hero and heroine. I sighed a few times for sure! :)

The writing was strong and engaging. Loved the history of the dragons, too. Very well developed. Nicely done, Sean Poindexter.

Great -GREAT- book! This thing is action packed from beginning to end and has something for everyone. It grabs you by your throat and does not let go while taking you on the ride of your life. I quit reading this genre of book (about dragons) quite some time ago as it became stale and old, but The Shadow of Tiamat puts a new spin on it with its originality and creativity. The vampires were also an interesting twist bringing a whole new dimension to the book too. It's not just the average dragon book, it's the average dragon book on steroids. I seriously do not regret reading this book -MUCH better than I anticipated and a must read! You will not be disappointed!

I really have mixed feelings about this book and it's not helped by the fact that I had to cough up a small fortune for the paperback (may a thousand camel fleas infest the armpits of those who don't put books into kindle format).
So what did I like about the book, well the fact that I want to see what happens in the next one helps, the story line wasn't bad and I enjoyed the politics of the dragons.
What I didn't enjoy was the borderline erotica, the perfect characters with perfect faces and bodies and almost instant "Being in Love" but I persevered and overall it wasn't bad, but not quite what I expected from I guy I must be honest.

Excellent writing, super fast-paced, with believable characters. I adore dragons so was pulled in immediately. The writing is tightly woven and the story is fascinating. The characters had many shades, giving them a lot dimension, as well as making the main characters very likable. I will say that the book contains graphic violence and sex scenes, so be aware of that going in. That did get a bit much for me once or twice, but didn't detract from the rest of the excellent story. Overall, a great start to what promises to be an awesome series!

The Shadow of Tiamat by Sean T. Poindexter is packed with action and a healthy dose of intrigue. As an added bonus, this fantasy novel is also spiced with a bit of erotic romance between Meg and Garrett, who we later learn is a Dragon!

The book was an enjoyable read and left me eagerly awaiting the next installment.
