MICHELLE'S REVIEW:

RATING : 5 SMEXI SEAN POTTER & KIERA STARS!!!!

Tim..Tim...Tim...what can I say but another AWESOME instalment in the Kiera Hudson series. I am totally sucked into his books when I am reading them that I so want to be an extra if these books ever got made into movies. Like seriously, I don’t care if I get raised in the air and my neck ripped open and I get flung across a car bonnet, and that is all I get to do ( well a close up would be cool.), but I want a part as they are so entertaining.

Vampire Breed comes with the twists, turns, spontaneity, smexi, the tension, gorey moments ( like Tim wouldn’t have some of those..duh!), the smart ass remarks, a bit of cranky pants, jealousy, experiments, oh and some awesome ranting and raving...ha!....., a crossbow, beloved children’s books ( oh yeah, why not), werewolves, vampires, doctors, a cell, a zoo........that’s all I am going to say.

Kiera is in it up to her eyeballs. As the reader we get to spend a bit of time with her one on one and you really get to ‘feel’ her isolation and pain. Kiera has really grown as a character and is a lot fiercer. I can’t wait to read what happens to her character in Vampire Hollows, the 5th book. No pressure Tim.....ha!

Oh I love my quotes and Potter does not fail me...bless that boy. The yelling matches Kiera and Potter have are hilarious. Oh there is one quote I so want to put in this review, but it would be spoiling, so I must zip it.

Now it would be remiss of me not to drool over the guy that has always caught my eye. I just knew from Vampire Shift that I was going to love Potter..... Mr Sean Potter...Team Potter. I have been a fan from the start and you don’t disappoint.

For all his smart ass comments, his cranky pants moods, there is something special about him. In this instalment I saw another side to Potter, a worried side. The boy has it bad and he is no longer surrounded by the 2 guys that he trusts most to have his back and to keep Kiera safe. He has the newbies, Isidor and Kayla that he must work with, who he needs to be able to rely on, and that frightens him. Potter may wear his cranky T-shirt, but it’s for a reason. He has lost those he cares for, who could read him like a book, no need to explain your next move and it’s payback time and he needs back up that’s not booing and hooing.

Well doesn’t Kayla have a change of heart.......rather hilarious!

I’m trying to decide if I like Jack Seth or not. I ‘feel’ that he is trying but...hmmm....I’m not sure yet. Maybe if I had been around to watch what he used to do, I may not want to give him a second chance.

I am truly having a hard time deciding which book is my fave in this series to-date. I love them all, but Vampire Hunt was my fave. Now, I have to put Vampire Breed equal with VH. I am being sentimental as I miss my three boys being together and VH was the book that had them on the mad rollercoaster ride.

Tim is still weaving that bit of mystery through Vampire Breed that keep us wanting to know what the deal is with Kiera's mum. What part does she play in all this?

I shall slip in, Tim gave me a little teeny dedication. I was his chip supplier, nothing like a vegemite flavoured chip and a meat pie flavoured chip to munch on while writing.

Thanks Tim I feel all spesh. I do enjoy our conversations from one pond to another. I’ve never had a book dedicated to me before, so that’s pretty cool.

I must mention the book cover. How gorgeous and muscle packed is that bod? Potter just has that look on his face.....he is rather perfect! I love how Kiera is holding on tight to her guy. My fave cover next to Vampire Shift.

I’m going to say it again....I highly recommend this series, Tim nailed it again. It’s the best .99c per ebook you will spend!

This is one self published author that breaks the mould.....

FAVE QUOTES:

“Look, I hate to be the one to break it to you, sweetheart, but some spottyfaced arsehole called Sparky killed your mum, your father has probably topped himself because he helped Phillips come up with the magic formula that is going to wipe the human race from the face of the planet, and the dude standing over here next to me with the Shaggy-Do beard is your brother.”

“I wonder what’s down there?” I whispered.
“Why are you whispering?” Potter whispered back.
“Dunno,” I shrugged, and followed him down into the pitch black.

( ha! I can't help giggling when I read that quote, like why are they whispering...hee..hee...)

“That was the biggest mistake of my life, because that one kiss from you drove me out of my tiny freaking mind!”

And I thought you were being a stroppy-cow because you were struggling with how you felt about me,” he smiled.

What can I say? This is a series that I can never get enough of!

Seriously why hasn't a publishing company scooped this up yet? It just doesn't make sense to me! But enough of my little fit throwing, lets get on with the review shall we?

Kiera Hudson is by far the worlds UNLUCKIEST twenty year old ever...and it just gets worse, and then worse.

Waking up in a zoo turned prison, where the animals are the ones that run free and the humans live in cages, things can't get much worse. She's filthy and worst of all...hungry. But it's what she hungers for that makes this prison cell only half the problem. While Kiera tries to fight the craving for flesh and blood she has to find a way out of her cell, because not only does her life depend on it, the entire human race is counting on her. Every minute she's here is another city wiped from the map as vampyrus, vampires, and werewolves take over. With blinding pain due to a werewolf bite, cravings for blood, and no tools to aid her she just might be in over her head this time.

Will Kiera be able to see her way out of this? Or is this the end of her humanity forever?

This series has been jam packed full of action, suspense, and the right amount romance, and this installment is no different. Can I just say Potter...swoon...sighs.? OMG I love this man! I can't get enough of him. I need more Kiera & Potter! LOL

No seriously I could go on and on and on about this book, but I don't want to give anything away. So I'll leave you with this...

You ever have one of those books that you pick up on a whim, not really expected much, and then it turns out to be one of the best books you've read? Well this entire series has been that way. And that is hard to do considering that I've read over 100 books this year alone. Since book one I have been hooked. After each book I think there is no way for the next book to be better but it always is! If you haven't picked this up by now do yourself a favor, you have no idea what your missing!

Ok, here I am, on the edge of Cliffhanger (but luckily for me the next installment is at hand) and I'm reeling!

It was him - not the one who I thought it was or the one that I was feeling guilty for thinking it could be him, or even the other two... no it was him and I never considered it! Oh don't get me wrong, he was in suspicious list but way back, way back before it really counted!!

Now because it is him - I am also left with - OMG Kiera, why him???? I LOVE Luke (even though he is still missing), what you did in the previous book was forgiven and then when my taste for this obnoxious son of a bitch somehow took a turn and I thought I cared, I was kind of ok with it still.... and then he goes and does that to her... What are you doing girl???

I guess I will find out these answers when I get to read Hollows... but before I do that, I will be reading Potter's story, will my feelings change toward this arse then? Who knows...

Kiera has finally escaped her prison, Isador and Kayla are with her and they have followed Kiera's dreams/memories to a place where prior things have taken place. It's in this place that Kiera discovers quite a bit about herself and her 'other two' and she has a decision to make that she is finding hard to come to terms with - who wouldn't. I am MEGA curious to see how this pans out and how this decision is made at all and I guess that the journey to the Hollows is where most of my answers are going to be found... including my questions about Luke and Potter...

Another great story by Tim O'Rourke!!!

"The fate of two entire races lies in your hands. The decision to destroy an entire race is not an easy one - so choose wisely, Kiera Hudson."

Geesh...talk about having the weight of the world on your shoulders! Poor Kiera just can't catch a break as it is always one battle to fight after another.

I have said this after reading each book in this series but this is definitely the best one yet. Again, Tim sucked me right into this world of vampires, Vampyrus, werewolves and half-breeds. Vampire Breed picks up right where Vampire Hunt left off, with Kiera still imprisoned by Phillips and his "over-grown dog" Sparky (man I hate that sleazy wanna-be!) with no idea what has happened to her friends. And in a load of pain I might add. After all, Kiera, along with Kayla and Isador, have been enduring being operated on and tested for their unique half-breed DNA so that the Vampyrus can breed more of them and eliminate the humans from the face of the planet. Plus being addicted to blood and the pain that goes along with the changes her body is going through. With the help of some nightmares, a classic fairy tale, a wobbly old chair and a new and unexpected friend, Kiera once again proves she is not going down without a fight!

Potter... oh where to start... You cannot read any of the books in this series and not have him sticking out like a soar thumb in your mind.
During book one, I couldn't stand him. During book two I started to soften but still wanted Kiera to be with Luke, by book three Luke was history in my book and I had grown to love Potter. He is back full of quirky, sarcastic spout offs and comments with his no-nonsense, no beating around the bush attitude. He had me cracking up in some parts and gasping in shock from his harshness in others.

As with Vampire Hunt, there was a "bring a tear to my eye" part that I never saw coming. Vampire Breed is also full of learning to trust, all the while that doubt of a traitor is still hanging in front of the gang. Having to grow up way to fast, Kayla and Isador really step up and pull their own weight and Jack Seth makes a comeback. As more parts of the overall story come together and plenty of action throughout the book you will be kept on the edge-of-your seat and before you know it your reading the ending and you will be picking your jaw up off the floor. Yeah, it's THAT good!

Without any introduction or adieu, I’m just going to jump into the synopsis of the fourth book in the Kiera Hudson series by Tim O’Rourke!

Vampire Breed starts off right where Vampire Hunt left off. Suddenly, Kiera finds herself trapped in a cage in a zoo like an animal. She’s tired, dirty, exhausted, and worst of all; she’s become addicted to human blood at the hands of her captors. When she begins to think that all is lost, a young werewolf comes to visit her almost every night. With Nik’s vague and somewhat confusing stories about what has happened to Kiera and her friends, it’s hard for Kiera to know if he’s someone she can trust. Slowly, her memories of the past few months of her captivity come back into focus as dreams and she slowly puts together the pieces of the story of her captivity. After finally escaping, she and her friends must work even harder to find out the hidden identity of the Vampyrus who is behind all of their suffering.

This installment of the Kiera Hudson series is probably the most action packed of them all. Even amid flashbacks to the times when Kiera is trapped in a testing facility, there is still so much drama and action that the story will constantly keep you guessing. There are car chases, a battle in a monastery, vampire fights, wolf on vampire attacks and even some hand-in-chest-and-rip-out-the-heart action. This story will definitely get your adrenalin pumping.

Tim O’Rourke once again shows his mastery at building stories and characters that are larger than life. He has readers constantly guessing and changing their alliances. That was one of my favorite parts of this book; it was so hard for Kiera and the reader to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. With the constant information that Keira gathers about the Vampyrus’s plans to take over the world, she finds it harder and harder to trust even those that she’s come to love. The ever-looming suspicion that hung in the air during this book had me picking apart the characters and I was extremely surprised with the ending of the story.

Kiera once again proved to be a strong and resilient character. Even when she was dirty, abused, starved and addicted to human blood, she found strength in herself and worked through the pain and hopelessness she felt. This is the best part about Kiera: she is always in the mood to kick butt and take names and she does it with her brilliant intellect. Kiera Hudson will forever be at the top of my list of heroines.

I am definitely on team Potter after reading Vampire Breed. While this may have been due to the fact that Luke was only in this book for the first few chapters, I have completely fallen for Potter’s don’t give a damn attitude and his suave persona. I’m even starting to like his catch phrases like “sweet cheeks” and “don’t get too excited tiger.” He cracks me up and makes me swoon at the same time. Potter is a perfect combination of bad boy and comedian.

After reading this book, I cannot wait to finish out the series. This story in particular is a must read for fans of the Kiera Hudson series and vampire lovers everywhere!

Vampire Breed is Book 4 of the Kiera Hudson series.

So far she's become a cop, fell in love with a Vampyrus, saved a town or something, got talked into babysitting, then tried to save a girl, and then fell in love with an icky character that I do not like but if I cast him as an X-men then I would, and went hunting for things, had her mom try to give her some blood, and woke up in a cage.

Kinda sounds like Resident Evil without the zombies lolz!

But it's good ;)

You know, they could actually make a video game of this, now that I think about it. I could see kids playing it.

In Vampire Breed, Kiera keeps remembering memories that were either blocked or hidden and we get to hear the beginning of the story in bits and pieces which I found ultra cool. She wakes up in a zoo (with no fighting robots. I now believe after seeing Real Steal that all zoos should have fighting robots in them) and has to deal with this white paw giving her kibbles and bits and appears to be trapped.

Oh! The word is APPEARS! Cuz we all know that Kiera is a super sleuth and can totally SEE and with her detective eyes she can probably find a way outta there.

Well, probably.

We are now one book away from this adventure ending. I don't really know how much I can spill about this without wrecking it. I mean, almost everything told is pretty crucial to the story. Let's see.... Does Kiera drink the blood that her Mommy offered her from Vampire Hunt? Well, I could tell you that but if I did then it might wreck this book. Does Kiera find Kayla? Yeah, she's been hunting for her throughout the last book and if I tell you that one then it might wreck this book, too.

See... it's kinda hard.

So, instead, for your entertainment, I will cast the characters with mutants and one hottie.

Kiera played by Jean Grey cuz you know.... she's important to the series and this will totally make sense later

Luke can be played by Cyclops. Cuz honestly, don't we all hate Cyclops? He's the leader and a goody two shoes and we all wonder what the hell Jean is doing with him when we'd rather her be with a badder boy (wait a sec.. I'm getting to that)

And then we have Potter. What is up with you people? Ok, apparently you all love Potter and I find him as so much of a prick... and this goes against everything I stand for but we'll cast him as Wolverine. But not Hugh Jackman Wolverine!! I will not permit that. Noes, cuz then he'd be cute(r).

Now, the reason I did this is because, like I said, we all want the heroine to hook up with more of a bad boy. I mean, why would you want a goody two shoes like Summers? ICKS! Why doesn't Jean hook up with Logan? So, just like that, we all want (not me) to see Kiera hook up with Potter. And thus.... this

And then there's Kayla. She's one of my favorite characters. She's young, new, and full of spunk. So, I would cast her as Jubilee.

Now, I know what you're thinking. You don't like Jubilee, but I always liked her and since it's my review I can do that ;) HAHAS! But! This also works because that means Jean will be all nurturing with her. So, I think it works out with Kiera and Kayla's relationship.

And last but not least we have Isidor. Isidor was easy to cast. He's young, sexy, shoots arrows... I mean stakes... and has a habit of taking his shirt off. So, I'm dropping the X-men and moving on to Smallville. Isidor can be played by Green Arrow.

I mean, once Isidor was introduced to the series Green Arrow was all I could think about. And this is why I like him so much. For one, Mr. Tim has realized that some of us like a SWEET little bad boy. And another.. he has a habit of taking off Izzy's shirt lolz!! Just like Smallville always took off Green Arrow's at every chance they could. No, seriously! Watch the show! I think it was in his contract or something ;)

Well, there ya go folks! We're almost to the end. How on earth is our team going to get out of this? What am I talking about? Well, read the series and find out!

This one is my favorite so far!! I am always looking for a new series to fall in love with and by chance a month ago I tried the first novel. Loved it so much that I read the 1st 2nd and 3rd book all in a week. The things I love best about this series is that 1. Kiera is not a whiny needed clingy woman that so many paranormal books portray (i.e. Twilight etc - sorry not a big fan) 2. The breed is unique so you don't feel like you have read it before 3. Story is paced nicely with intrigue - so many times the author spends too much time on character development that when it comes to the climax of the plot it feels rushed, with these novels the story is nicely paced and the characters are well developed without sacrificing thestory. 3. Not too much backstory - this is a pet peeve of mine. I understand the need for some backstory to help "jog" your memory a bit or for the random person who decided to start reading a series in the middle, but too many times authors spend the first chapter recapping the previous book. This drives me nuts! Tim does an amazing job of allowing for some back story but spacing it out throughout the book so you never feel like you are rereading the previous books. The action and very detailed descriptions of kiera in this book made me feel like I understood everything she was feeling. Great job - can't wait for the next one.

Just finished reading Vampire Breed, and it was by far my favorite of the series. I loved the whole series of course but this exceeds the rest so far. I was on edge the entire time reading it. I couldn't put it down, finished it really fast and now January couldn't come fast enough. I cannot wait for book 5 and see what's going to happen. This is a must read book! Just love love love it!

Thank-you to author Tim O'Rourke for providing me with a ecopy to read and review!

Catapulting the Keira Hudson series into its fourth book, Vampire Breed does not disappoint with its non-stop action and adrenaline rush that sees Keira and the gang head into a whole new level of danger!

As usual author Tim O’Rourke managed to have me on the edge of my seat with excitement and adventure and his flawless writing and storytelling captivated me from the very first page. Vampire Breed is another amazing book in the series and there’s no shortage of mystery, intrigue and danger as O’Rourke blends together an incredible thriller with just the right amounts of romance and humour to entice you.

The world sure has changed since Vampire Hunt. The events of the previous book have had a drastic impact on the town of Wasp Water and even Keira herself has undergone drastic changes as the sleepy town has been overrun with rogue vampires. The Vampyrus still have their plans to take over the world, but a new level of issues come into play as O’Rourke continues to add to his never ending tangle of mystery and danger.

One of the best things about these books is that you never know what’s going on completely. Tim manages to write in a way that has the story flowing so nicely and yet tells you nothing of where he’s taking it. There’s always another question about someone or something on your mind and you wonder about characters and people as the story unfolds. Revelations come to light that have you thinking, “Oh. No. No way! I did NOT see that coming!” And I love that. I always know I’m in for an incredible ride that’s going to have me captivated the entire way throughout when I pick up a Keira Hudson book.

In this book Keira is finds herself imprisoned in some sought of prison or facility, and you as the reader must follow along with Keira as she attempts to figure out just what has happened to her and how much time as past. As Keira pieces together her most recent months in a string of intriguing and detailed dreams, it becomes clear how much she’s changed since the first book and how much the events since she went to Raged Cove have affected her. Personally, I think she’s become stronger in a lot of ways, whist still retaining her personality traits and everything that makes her her, as well as her ability to “see”, but Keira’s new addiction to blood and situation have left her somewhat sad and broken. And yet she NEVER gives up. As she’s happy to point out, she’s Keira Hudson, and she’s going to find a way outta her current predicament, even if it kills her.

As the novel progresses, our favourite characters find Keira once more and the gang must figure out what to do next. Isidor, Kayla, and Potter return as does Jack Seth and a new Lycanthrope inclusion poises more mystery to the book.
I missed the moments without my Potter, but I was doing cartwheels when he was in the book once more. Okay, okay....so I was doing cartwheels in my head, but whatever....Potter was back! That’s all I cared about. Sean Potter, oh how I love you. In Vampire Breed Potter is forced to take charge due to the tragic events in the previous book that saw him loose two of the people who matter to him most. He’s still hoping to save Luke and taking the lead has Potter even grumpier than ever (don’t worry I still love you!). However it’s not just this that has Potter all bothered, and a series of raw revelations to Keira has him begin to really speak how he feels.

As always to me the moments Keira and Potter shared shone. There’s not a moment of these books I dislike, but the scenes with Potter and Keira are always my fave. I missed Luke a tad in this book, but everything that happened only reinforced my desire to see Keira choose Potter once and for all. Keira and Potter as electric together and they may drive one another mad, but they’re so right doing it. They just work....and I’m hoping that Keira’s ready to acknowledge that once and for all real soon!

With the next book signalling the end for this series, I know to expect nothing less than an explosive ending from Tim O’Rourke! He’s loved putting his characters through the wringer (and secretly I’ve loved seeing him do it) but I think that he’s still got more in store for us, especially considering the ending he leaves Vampire Breed with—I did NOT expect that. At all!

Wow what another AWESOME book in the Kiera Hudson series. I have been engrossed in this first series for a week now, running out and buying the next book after each one. I just can’t wait. I am totally sucked into this series. Enjoying the twists, turns, sexy Potter, blood, guts and no stop action. What can I say I friggin love this series !!!!!!!!!

This story had nonstop action, a few tears, a few what the >>> moments, and also moments where you like oh my gosh!!!

I love Tim’s writing , he is so unpredictable, as a reader we read along thinking of what may happen next but with Tim’s story’s you will never * Ever* guess .

And the ending ….. Wow!! I was like REALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... and a few choice words thrown in !

Vampire Breed is filled with pages and pages of goodness, blood guts, romance ** waggles eyebrows * murder, mystery, suspense and twists and turn its like being on a rollercoaster ride you will never know what happens at the next corner.

I have watched Kierra grow from book one and she has certainly turned into a kick arse and strong charcter along the way, with each instalment her strength grows and we see many sides to her. I have liked watching her grow as a person and we see a very strong side to her in this book.

Potter we see his many shades, but in this installment we see his softer side. I had a ohhhh ahhhh gooey moments in this story and for all those who read this story. Will know exactly what I’m talkin bout ! lol.

I loved his crankiness, his witty comments and his protective side. Tim has certainly created yet another book boyfriend for me to lust over... (( snickers )) I’m not sure which direction that Tim will take us in this series, but I’m rooting for Potter.. 100 % … sorry Luke but Potter might be a smart arse but he is just dam Smoking!

I did miss the Trio …. My heart still aches.. at the loss of one of them. But non the less I still enjoyed the story. As a reader, I could feel the pain in which the characters went through, the emotions all put forward well to give the reader depth into the storyline.

Tim has no qualms in putting forth all descriptions with such vivid detail. I enjoy this much so as well with his writing. All the stories in the Keira Hudson books that I have read to date are fast paced, mind blowing and jam packed filled with EVERYTHING !!!! Even a little who har for those romantics like me ;)

Seth I am seeing a different side to now and rather like him as a character. Tim is throwing us curve balls throughout every installment, leaving us with questions, why, who and hmmmm’s .
Overall, I really enjoyed Vampire Breed and have just brought the next book to delve into on my days off !

I have to say I enjoyed the quotes in Tim’s books, you have to giggle at times, and other times are taken aback by Potter’s bluntness but I think it’s why I like him so...

MY FAVOURITE QUOTE LOL.

“Look, I hate to be the one to break it to you, sweetheart, but some spotty faced arsehole called Sparky killed your mum, your father has probably topped himself because he helped Phillips come up with the magic formula that is going to wipe the human race from the face of the planet, and the dude standing over here next to me with the Shaggy-Do beard is your brother.”

“That was the biggest mistake of my life, because that one kiss from you drove me out of my tiny freaking mind!” (( THIS ONE MADE ME OHHH AHHH GOEEEY ! ))

MY THOUGHTS.
** I can see this being an addiction that wont waver. ** Lucky for me my amazon gift card balance is topped up and reading for abusing !! ;) grins !

If you liked, or in my case - LOVED, the first three books of the Keira Hudson series you will not be disappointed with this fourth instalment. With Keira captured and no sign of Potter or Luke the beginning of this novel appears very bleak for all of the characters. 'Where is everybody?' was the first question I asked myself, in fear of what may have happened to them.

However, over time we find out how Keira is and how she has been treated and as the book unfolds we are taken on an incredible journey that is both horrific and exciting. This novel, like the previous, is action-packed adventure with more beings to fear with the Lycanthrope, Vampyrus, vampires and half-breeds. This book holds many revelations for Keira and her friends, however it is difficult to be more detailed without spoiling the plot. But take it from me, this is a must-read!!!

Tim O'Rourke certainly knows how to engross his readers with passion, rage, fear, friendship, loyalty and love. The characters are amazingly strong and definitive in their own unique way. Keira is a strong heroine, whilst at the same time retains her feminine qualities. Whilst Potter, on the other hand, is still the masculine, strong-silent type with a great deal of rage and passion within. He keeps all of the characters on their toes as well as the reader and I absolutely love him. He is still dark and mysterious with his own plans of action.

There is still the use of the iPod which, certainly for me, aids in keeping the story current and more believable, especially with the song choices and their purposes/uses within the scene. The music connects this fictional fantasy with real, everyday life and therefore brings the story alive.

I also love the connections I personally make between these novels and various tv shows and films, although I 'd like to make it perfectly clear that this is in no way a copy of any of those. This series is absolutely original and unique but with just tiny similarities. For example, I like the Lot 13, which is Tim O'Rourke's version of True Blood. There is also a strong survival aspect to this novel and Keira must survive. She has to endure thirst, hunger, being preyed upon from all walks of life with doubt on who she can trust. Mix all this up with gore and action and some specific scenario's in this book and I am left thinking about 'The Walking Dead', '28 Days Later', 'Survivors' and 'Last Train', although remembering that this series is focused on the Vampyrus and vampires. I started questioning at some points of the book, 'Are the characters left the only beings left alive in the world?'

Some may wonder about the gore that I have mentioned above. Yes, there are horrific moments with human flesh being torn apart, blood flowing, biting and fighting. However, the use of this is not over stated or ridiculous but believable and appropriate for the scene it has been written into. It is all very direct but understandable and quick-paced as you sense how much danger the characters are in. Will they make it though?

In contrast to the above, there are also those scenes when during capture or in hiding and shelter the characters have a chance to engage on a more intimate level and refresh themselves and reveal what course of action they are planning and maybe why. It truly is a captivating read that is highly addictive and very powerful with it's highs and lows.

I am off to read 'Wolf House (Keira Hudson Series One, #4.50)' followed by 'Vampire Hollows (Keira Hudson Series One #5)'.

*Genre* Urban Fantasy
*Rating* 4-4.5

*Review*

Vampire Breed picks up approximately 2 months after the end of Vampire Hunt. So, if you haven’t read the previous 3 books yet, why not? In the beginning, Kiera, Kayla, and Isidor have been captured by the villains including Kiera’s own psychotic mother, Phillips and Sparky. There’s no sign of Luke, Potter, or Jack Seth.

Since they are considered half breeds, they are experimented on, and end up being treated like animals in a zoo. Kiera finds that she’s lost memories of the past two months, and struggles to SEE what has happened to her. Kiera, Isidor and Kayla are forced into doing something none of them is comfortable with; they end up craving what they believe is blood, but ends up being something entirely different and disgusting. Only Kiera seems to have the will power to stop her craving.

Vampire Breed is a much, much darker story than the previous 3 installments combined. Kiera is really put through the ringer this time around. Kiera learns more about her upcoming role in the Vampyrus/Human battle and its conclusion which she may or may not have the power to stop. This news may change the course of her very existence and those who she loves. She also realizes that there is a traitor in her group, but, she isn’t sure of whom it is at the moment. I say at the moment, because that could change in the last installment!

I loved the new addition of Lycanthrope Nikolaou (Nik) to the series. He quickly becomes Kiera's protector and helper when she is locked up like an animal and later finds a way to escape her imprisonment. I've narrowed down the invisible man, aka Elias Munn to two people now. One of which didn't show up in this particular story. How utterly convenient!

Kayla has quickly become a star of this particular series, outshining even Kiera at times when the going gets tough and things need to get done. She reminds me of a spit fire who can't be restrained once she puts her mind to doing something. Isidor, I think, needs some serious me time. I still love Kiera’s ability to think on her feet and make decisions which may, or may not make a lot of sense at the time.

Romance: Ok already! I'll say it...I like Potter! Are ya happy now? Of course, there will be those who jump on the Jack Seth’s as well. ::shivers:: He’s just plain creepy. Then there will be those who will ask why Kiera has abandoned Luke. After the past two books, I’m not all that keyed on the reliability of Luke.

Naturally, what comes from book number 4 of a series is a wicked evil cliffhanger that made me want to scream bloody murder! Thankfully, I already have Vampire Hollows on my Kindle so all is well in the world! Yay!

O’Rourke has written another phenomenal book in his Kiera Hudson series, bringing us one step closer to the much anticipated finale as book five is planned to release in early 2012. I am in love with this series, and think it is one of the best series I’ve read this past year. That being said, this novel is, like the others, very well done. We learn so much more about the Vampyrus and their evils plans in this novel, including who is behind it all. I was shocked at the villains reveal, especially as it wasn’t anyone I suspected. In fact, the name hadn’t even crossed my mind as a possible bad guy; I love surprises, and this novel is full of them!

Unlike the other novels in this series, this one takes on a darker, more sinister feel as Kiera is imprisoned in a filthy cell. She finds she has been operated on and treated horribly, all in the name of science. Yet, while the reader is given firsthand knowledge of these atrocities, they are not graphic in the way that many novels are. Instead, O’Rourke alludes to the operations and treatments, leaving it up to the reader’s imagination, which I was extremely thankful for as I have difficulty stomaching graphic horror, especially when it’s in relation to characters I absolutely adore.

Both old and new characters come on the scene in this riveting fourth book, and Potter is as endearing as ever as he, Kiera, and our friends of old and new struggle to fight against the Vampyrus attempting to take over the world.

O’Rourke is a fabulous writer, absolutely amazing, and I am dying to know the end of this amazing series. Having written seven fabulous books this year alone, O’Rourke is held in high esteem in my eyes. I highly recommend this book, and all O’Rourke’s books, for that matter...

Vampire Breed is the fourth book in the Kiera Hudson series by Tim O’Rourke. I am completely addicted to this series. After reading this book my reaction was “Ahhhhh!” I am so ready to read Vampire Hallows (which will be out soon Feb. 2012). With each book I think it is the best in the series. The books are back to back with each other continuing right where the previous left off. The book continues to be suspense filled from beginning to end. I could not put it down. Kiera learns more about herself and her role in the Vampyrus/Human battle. She gets deeper involved with Potter, but still feels like she can’t trust anyone. You can’t help but feel like you are a part of the story, right in the middle of it. I found myself feeling anxious and nervous right along with them. Thru the last two books I was certain I knew who was behind everything, but was shocked at the end, however I am still suspicious going into the next book. Thank goodness I have Wolf House: Potters Story (#4.5) to hold me over, well at least for another day. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars! I can see myself reading the series again in a few months. A huge thank you to Tim O’Rourke for the series!

Everything in this book is dark, depressing, filthy and trying. My heart goes out to Kiera, she only wanted to know what happened to her mom, she never expected that she'll be a stuff of legend much less treated baser than a rabid animal!

Vampire Breed will test your limits. There's nothing pretty about this book, in fact it might make you lose a little bit of hope about the whether or not Kiera will survive all of this. The answers to the conspiracy, mysteries and the endless deceptions have been staring at me all along and that the revelations made my head spin. But the most wonderful part was it felt organic, it didn't feel like a well laid out plan by Tim O'Rourke. The next arc of the story wasn't a convenient twist placed to make the puzzles fit together, it's just how the story is supposed to be.

What can I say, Tim O'Rourke makes his books too intriguing! I would of finished this book sooner, but I was so into the book. I felt the I needed to give Kiera (MC) sometime, so she figure her way out of a certain situation. Crazy, I know! But the anticipation of what she needs to figure out and what's need to get done. That's what pulled the story closer together. But, it also make you wonder! What else in store for Kiera and her friends. I'm anxious for the next book! Starting it now!

I truly enjoy this series. I would like to recommend it to those who like vampires/werewolves with a twisted plot. This story is interesting. But, fair warning there are a lot of cliff hangers. But, that's just a little motivation to keep you reading. Enjoy!!!

Being the fourth book from this series, I have read the other three and can say I am completely hooked! The style of writing, and the many twists and turns this book takes really keeps you on your toes. I believed Kiera was meant for Luke, however book four has bought out another side to Potter that you just didn't expect and now I wouldn't know who to choose! I read the last two books in three days, I just couldn't put them down. Going onto book 4.5 about Potter now and I eagerly await book five. Three cheers for Tim for an excellent series! :)

I read this book when it came out in 2011 but didn't realise I hadn't done a review. Kiera gets locked away after her failing attempts to find her mum and in search of information. Where are all her friends and who has her locked up? More time with Potter as Luke is away yippee and Kiera has to turn tough or she'll never get out!! Loved this book it has everything laughs mostly from Potter he's so funny, twists that you don't see coming till they've smacked you in the face, wow is all I can say read it you won't be disappointed!!
