This is my first time reading a Dandelion Book of any kind. I am trying to learn more about Dandelions, would love to start using / eating them. I have learned they are packed with nutrients, vitamins. So they are actually good for you. To think we often get rid of them, especially when we mow our yards huh?!
I will refer to this book, in the near future to use some of the information provided here as well as some of the recipes. I like that it has a good amount of information, not packed, not boring, easy to understand. Also has tips on how to and when to, harvest them. As well as the recipes on how to make them and how to save them / freeze them to use them in the future.
This was not a 5 stars for me, because I feel cookbooks should have an aesthetically pleasing look to them. I mean, food right? Needs to look beautiful and appealing in order to want to make it and eat it. However this one lacked on presentation, it barely had any pictures and like I said, they lacked...
Again this was my 1st Dandelion Book of any kind, I have nothing to really compare it to, other than other types of cookbooks. But thats it, so will have to find other Dandelion books and see what I think. But nonetheless this was an easy read, I am excited to learn more about Dandelions and try some of the tips, and recipes given in this book.
This made me want to go out and cook some dandelions! Not necessarily using the recipes, but inventing my own techniques from the useful tips on how to eat each part of the plant. I knew the leaves were good, had heard the petals were tasty, but didn't know about the "hearts" and buds, nor had I heard of eating the roots other than as a coffee substitute. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be a few dandelions lingering in this winter cold when it gets warm tomorrow.
I've long used dandelions in recipes, but this wonderful book had so many that were new to me. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to add to their cooking repertoire! Buy it and enjoy it!
Loved this book, I even got it in hard cover, this is a good to have if you have dandelions around you, I thought I did but was surprised its a knock off of the dandelion, highly recommend getting this book if you do have the real dandelions near you it will come in handy, lots of recipes
