[Siren Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, shape-shifters]
Jack Remus has always been a player. While his pack mates value their relationships, Jack is only interested in casual sex--one night of passion, then a parting of the ways, never to see each other again. And that's exactly what he's looking for at the Silverado Saloon, but his plans backfire when he follows an intoxicating scent and ends up in the middle of a brawl.

Dakota is on the run from an abusive Alpha. He has a temporary job at the Silverado, and when he earns enough for a bus ticket, he'll be on his way. When his boss tries to seduce him, Jack steps in to play the white knight. A new lover is the last thing on Dakota's mind. He knows it's time to move on, but his plan backfires when the dark stranger follows him. Jack is on Dakota's trail, but it's a path that just might get him killed. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

I didn't read the first 2 books in the series because I don't like menage stories. Although this can be read as a stand along I still didn't like this.

This story seemed rushed from beginning to end. Everything seemed to happen to fast. Dakota is running from his Alpha. He meets Jack. Dakota runs. Jack finds him. His Alpha finds him. Jack and Dakota fight the Alpha. They don't kill them because Jack doesn't want to be Alpha of Grey's pack. Jack takes Dakota home. 2 of the pack come over and start going off on Jack. Dakota hears. Jack talks to the Alpha of his pack and all is well. The end.

Now imagine the above paragraph stretched for 80 pages with no depth, not enough back story and no chemistry between the characters. Congrats, you've just read this book.

I read the first two books, but you don't have to. They can be read on their own.
Actually liked this one the best.

Like the switch to MM. The characters had good chemistry and the story lines are completely different in each book so they can be standalones,

I find these books oddly compelling as though they're erotica with plenty of action that'll make your mother blush and yearn for the 60s, these are not superficial books. They're not one-dimensional, they have lots of layers, a good storyline with paranormal and Sci-Fi elements. There's lot in the series to get your teeth stuck into too.

P.S. I love the title. Giggling still!

I'm always thrilled when I get a chance to read books in my favorite genres. This is the continuation of the great Shifter Stories from Gale Stanley and I couldn't be more happy to have been given the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful story. It delves deep in body, mind and soul with stunning scenery, intriguing characters, and a plot that keeps you on your toes. It's a real page-turner and I finished it in record time. I will definitely be looking forward to more books from Stanley.

Backfire [Southwest Shifters 3] by Gale Stanley is another great read by this author!
Backfire is a short read but very exciting and if you haven't read a book by Gale Stanley, this is a good place to start! Although this is the third in this series, not a problem, the author is so creative you won't miss a thing.

A wonderful introduction to the genre, this novella is compelling, intriguing, and mighty sexy. At 70 pages, it misses nothing and is a great evening's read (not everything needs to be a thumping 300-400 pages to make a point). It does stand alone, but it never hurts to also read what came before. A great read that is part of a great series. Recommended.

Wonderful, spine tingling tale that takes the reader on an emotional ride. Beautifully sensual, high-heat action that leaves you breathless and panting for more. Felt for Dakota and once I'd picked up this book, couldn't put it down until I'd finished it - several hours later! Will definitely read more from Ms Stanley!

A wonderful book in the Southwest Shifters Series, Backfire is well written and the storyline rock solid.

What I do like is that readers won't need read the series in order, even though if they read this one, they will want to go and read the rest!
