Secrets Of High States

Rate this book
Known in the investment world as the founder and editor of The Dines Letter, Mr James Dines is truly a living legend. He is one of the most accurate and highly regarded investment analysts today. Secrets of High States is Mr James Dines’ fifth book and he considers it perhaps the most important tract he has ever written, despite its brief 175 pages. It is Mr Dines’ personal favorite book of the six he has authored. Secrets of High States studies our life's internal relationship to our money. It covers personal development, for example why “Hyperneeding to be Right” induces too many investors to repeatedly buy near tops and sell near bottoms. Secrets of High States features photographs taken by Mr Dines, used to illustrate particular points. This book is especially helpful to newer security analysts and serious stock market students who wish to learn how to identify and avoid what might throw us, as investors, off stride. These distractions are impactful on our investment decisions. If you can minimize the negative effects of emotions such as anger, fear and greed while investing, you can become a more successful investor. Secrets of High States is a powerful study of how investors can stop being manipulated by the stock market.

A fine coffee table book...
You can read it in an hour...
but the wisdom of the idea of living in a "high state" brings you back often.
I have it in my mountain retreat in Kimbereley and every year I look forward to rediscover the "pearls.

Beautiful photography... Excellent sentiments...

" We should love things for what they are, not we we think they ought to be"

" It is not easy to achieve total Truthfulness because we tend to live counterfeit lives in order to resemble the idea we first had of ourselves.

I did not like his capitalized abbreviations...a habit he also has in his newsletters...but you can't have everything
