The glimmer of hope I held was shattered.

Happiness was yanked away from me all over again by the same person that broke me at fifteen. Whether he’d done the deed or not didn’t matter. My mind only saw his face lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike.

Kaivan McMillan ripped open the scars on my soul and let them bleed.

There was not a part of me left that didn’t ache, not a piece that wasn’t shredded by the cruelty of fate…or was it?

When you ran from your past, you’d better be prepared for it to chase you, and chase me they did.
Would I survive another round with the demons of my past, or would they take me down forever?

Writing is not just a passion for me. It is a lifeline to my sanity.

I have always loved writing but suffer from severe dyslexia and short-term memory retention issues. I struggled in school while I worked every night on re-training my brain.

I was frequently treated like I would never succeed, and I found myself putting my love for writing on a shelf.

Even at the age of six, I found it easier to communicate with animals than people, which was a big reason why I was drawn to dressage horseback riding. I remained focused on my passion for riding until I had to step away from the competition world for personal reasons.

Today, my desire for writing and storytelling has been rekindled. I have published multiple books and will never let anyone or anything hold me back again.
I am a proud romance author who offers my readers morally grey heroes, a ton of spice, epic journeys, and redemption stories.

Picking up where Malice ended, Surrender sees Raine and her men through many challenges.

They are each learning how to navigate this new relationship that is, at times, tumultuous. Not only that, as they uncover long-buried secrets, they find that there are threats closer than they could have known.

This installment brings action, revenge, and all the spice. We also get to know each of the men more deeply, including seeing the many unexpected similarities between Kai and Jace. It was easy to see how much they each love Raine and how she became the center of their worlds. Nothing came easily for them. Not the revenge, closure, or their HEA. It was all hard fought, making it that much sweeter.

“I want to be selfish for the first time ever. I want it all. Call me greedy, or a slut, or whatever you want, but I want all of you, and no, that doesn’t mean you can fuck whoever you want.” It was my turn to cross my arms. “You want all three of us exclusive to you and at the same time?” Rubbing my eyes, I ground my teeth together.”
It’s hard one man to handle, imagine 3… unbelievable. I think RH isn’t my kind to read.
This book didn’t work right for me because the female character was a selfish bit… it was clear who deserve stay with her and the story at the end took some wild curve.
Well Kai deserve to be happy and it doesn’t mean he need to stay with Raine —- my thoughts!

4.5 stars.

This book continues on from Book 1, Malice. It is a Dark Why Choose series with a fantastic cast of characters - Raine our strong heroine, and her men - Kai/Snake (MC member), Jace (the Rockstar) and Avro (Raine's co-worker/the glue of the group). Another character worthy of mentioning, is Wilder a stand-out secondary character in both books.

Tensions are high in the group, things implode, jealousy rears it's ugly head, peace is made with the past, compromises are made. Plenty of action, suspense and steam.

Overall a fantastic series, and great finale for Raine and her men. I'd love to know Wilder's story.

Highly recommend this series. 🖤

I loved Malice and couldn’t wait for Surrender to come out. While there were some really good parts, I have to be honest and say I’m really disappointed and feel there are a lot of unanswered questions for a duet. I was annoyed with the ending and am left unfulfilled which makes me sad.

Kai absolutely OWNS me!! I loved him already in book one but book two just leveled those feelings up! 🫠

So this book picks up where book one ended. Raine is headed across the country hoping to sacrifice her happiness in order to keep all of the men she loves safe. Avro as you know from the end of the first book goes to Kai demanding that he finds Raine and fixes this whole situation so she can come back home to them. Of course, Kai is not going to let Raine go now that he's had her after all these years even if he wants her all to himself. I loved that when Kai finally gets to her they get the chance to lay everything out there in the open between them. You can really see the moment that things shift and they start to mend what has been broken.

Now Raine may have been someone who could be intimidated or easily frightened in Malice but in Surrender she has become a force to be reckoned with. Which Kai is getting to see firsthand. His love for her is put to the ultimate test when she refuses to back down over having Avro and Jace in her life as well as Kai. She is done sacrificing what she wants and what she wants is all of them. And I am so glad this new Raine has come to the surface because it truly made me love her character even more than I already did. It is evident that Avro and Jace have helped her heal in so many ways. Confronting Kai and their past is just the last step to finally living the life she wants.

This brings us to my favorite part of this duet - the group dynamic. Kai trying to navigate sharing Raine with Avro and Jace is the highlight of this whole story for me. He is constantly battling his knee-jerk reactions when it comes to the other guys and let me tell you the inner monologue he has over it is hysterical! I just love how murderous he gets and how easily he is riled up on the inside while also trying to reign it in so he doesn't lose her for good. Plus it makes for some killer tension when all three guys are in the same room together. 😉

Another thing I really enjoyed is how each of the guys had their own obstacles or situations to work through. In the end, everything comes down to how it affects their relationship with Raine, but it made this book feel like it was putting more focus on what was going on with the guys. It may just be me but I felt like Malice had a lot of focus on Raine and her trauma/healing while anything happening with the guys beyond being with her sat more in the background of the story. So when it comes to Surrender we see Raine with this new confidence and fire, and while she's still the main focus of the book, the ins and outs of the guys' lives seemed to be brought to the forefront a little more. And I for one am never going to turn down getting to know more about these guys. 😆
Oh! Remember our pal Wilder from book one? Good thing I couldn't get enough of his quirky self because we get to see a lot more of him in book two and he brings just as much humor with him if not more.

Now the spice in this book had me positively drooling. It didn't matter if it was one on one or involving more than one of the guys it was all hot AF. I mean Jace’s mouth is one thing but then you have Kai and his naughty self just taking what he wants - a bish cannot breathe! 😂 There is this one moment in particular that will forever live rent-free in my head because not only was it super hot it had me so shocked it was actually happening. 🥵🥵 It even had me giggling like a fool a few times. The spice is always really good in Brooklyn's books though so I'm happy to say this one didn't change that. And for the record, I am so looking forward to a possible bonus spicy scene that was hinted at. Because where it takes place and how it starts - umm I NEED to know how that all goes down like something serious. The things playing out in my imagination are not sufficient lol I need answers, Brooklyn! 🤣😩

Yeah, this whole duet is officially never leaving my brain. I've cleared out an entire corner in there just for Raine and her men to occupy. 🥰

I was fine until...

So to be fair, I am very picky about what RH's I like to begin with. I usually won't read anything where the 3 H's aren't all friends or brothers or something ahead of time and this book is the shining example of why. There's nothing romantic about one selfish female holding 3 people's love hostage by demanding they all be with you or you're not going to be with any of them. Kai deserved better. Honestly, she and Jace and Avro should have just stayed together with their own selfish, self-serving bullshit and let Kai fidn a woman who could actually give him all of herself like he deserved. What she did to him was so unfair, especially when she was such a completely jealous bitch on top of it! Like what right did she have to say shit-all about it when she knew what she was doing to Kai would kill him. For one thing Avro and Jace were already a unit, so he's going into the whole thing somewhat of an outsider to begin with, then it was easier for them anyways since they already had an open relationship and were open to it, plus they were less invested. They had each other, they just met Raine, they had so much less to lose than Kai. I just feel like he got done dirty and it's such a shame because I loved the first book, but the second book just really highlighted how selfish and self centered the h was.

OMG! I will shout to the masses, #TeamKai til I die!

The conclusion of Snake’s duet was absolutely fabulous. I loved how everything came together. The character development of Kai (Snake) was absolutely intoxicating! I wanted more and more!!! I couldn’t get enough of Kai, Avro, Jace and Raine! This book had everything… the duet together was epically done.

Between the spice, the angst, the action, the character development and the happily ever after… this duet is AMAZING!

not a fan

The first book was okay and intrigued me enough to read the second but overall I did not enjoy this series. I felt like the character development was weird and choppy. I couldn’t stand the way the engagement was handled. Raine only seemed to care if jace and Avro were okay and Kai is supposed to just come along for the ride with no care to his feelings? Not to mention for a RH there was barely any spice. So disappointing

We picked up right where book 2 left off which had Raine in a whole mess and on the run. There were so many ups and downs and twists and turns but seeing all the growth from all the characters was so satisfying. It seems like each one was able to heal in their own way.

This wasn’t my favorite type of why choose with how they all came together but only because I secretly wish Raine and Kai would have ran off together. I loved the connection they shared. That being said the relationship works for the 4 of them and good for her for speaking up and claiming what she wants! They all ended up finding common ground and coming together after a wild ride!

I can’t wait to read Wilders book because you know that man is crazy and it’s going to be a heck of a ride.

Hmmm. I have very mixed feelings about the second book of this duet. The positives: the banter between the guys is really funny as they try to navigate this new dynamic. Kai did some really bad and questionable stuff in book one, but he was still by far the most interesting character here. Well maybe aside from Wilder. Like, WTF was that guy. Lol he was
Awesomely insane though. That’s about it. I loved Kai and all the side characters. Other than that, everything else was just …weird. Like, maybe too much going on? I dunno. Enjoyed enough to finish it though. So 3.5 from me.

3.7 stars. I enjoyed this duet. it was very dark with lots of trauma and ptsd. All four characters were unique in their own ways. I love how much all the men love Raine. But if I were to choose just one guy, I'd choose Kai. But Jace would be right behind him.

Also, just to add in here that I am still not a fan of reverse harems/why choose. There were only three scenes in total of the two books where she was being sexed up with more than one guy. They all had their one on one scenes with her more. Which was ok with me. But this was still a banger and fun was had by all. LITERALLY LOL

Lost Souls

Raine, Kai, Avro, and Jace

Holy smokes 🥵. Raine has her hands full with these three. Will there be another book with them??? Like, I need more with the guys and their budding relationship, lol. They all have had so much happen to them, and it was heartbreaking. I need an entire book of their happy times. Definitely recommend reading this. Great story.

We're back for part two of Raine, Kai, Avro & Jace's story and oh man 🥵 what a story!!!

These three are on fire, my heart was racing, my pulse jumping and it had me sweating - Brooklyn knows how to both draw you in and to leave you hanging!
Kai, Avro & Jace are all so different yet so similar in ways - esp Kai &Jace! Those two make me giggle with their alphaness, the looks they give, their words, oh man they're good 😘!

There's a lots of smexy times but also sad times. None of these guys has had an easy life, far from it. They've all suffered, they've all had their hearts broke and their souls damaged but they give such hope to the reader, they survived! They've came out the other side and they are loving life!

Absolutely loved it!! Filled with passion, some seriously hot scenes, love and admiration for each other, action and then a few twists thrown in for good luck.
However, this isn't your typical MMFM, Kai is an outsider to Avro and Jace so watching them all try to accept each other and the relationship because of their love for Raine was heartwarming - and also quite humours, gotta love sarcasm!!

Excellent work yet again!!

DNFd

I just couldn’t do it. The character profiles were inconsistent and there were way too many tropes in the book and they weren’t done correctly.

Also what’s with the times? For example Kai will say “I have been out of prison for one year, three months, 4 days and 18 minutes.” And he would go into detail on all timeline things. Like “she’s two years two weeks and two days younger than me” it was just really weird.

I tried. And I DNFd when Jace asked her to go to an awards show. Like I said. Too many tropes that weren’t written well together

Surrender is book 2 in the Lost Souls MC series by Brooklyn Cross and it brings out all the punches!

Surrender picks up right where Malice left off. There is no in between we get no time jump. I love that. I love seeing what happens to Raine after she took off.

Out of both books I loved this one the best. Raine really came into herself in this book. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to get it. She finally takes a stand. The boys really show their love for her. They are all completely different but totally right for our girl. Kai I have to give him a special shout-out. I love me some Kai!!!!!

Surrender is not all rainbows and butterflies. These characters go through it to get their HEA.

*Surrender is book 2 in the Lost Souls MC. It is not a standalone and needs to be read after book 1

A fantastic end to the duet! I was never bored in this story! There were reveals after surprise after smut after shock… like my heart almost did not survive! The four of them make me so happy!

I think this is a very intriguing story because all the characters were so real it was easy to get sucked in. I think the men took point in this story which was different from the last but it worked with everything happening. Loved for their journey individually and toward each other.

No one was happier for this HEA than me! I absolutely loved the way it ended! I’m still recommending this to my dark romance lovers! Get ready for a twisty ride but one that is so entertaining! Check content warnings!!

I absolutely love Brooklyns stories.
I don’t know what she’s placed into these stories (or water 🤣) but I devour them. I always have to sit back and think about what I’ve read.

This story had it all. It was a perfect ending to this duet. There’s almost every type of trope in this story. It was absolutely amazing. I’m ready to dive more into the other lost souls stories of each person.
The characters were definitely brought to life and I’m ready for the movie.

I liked this second part much more than the first one, it shreds more light to Avro's background, Jace's past and of course some revelations as per Raine's assault.
What really stood out here for me was Kai, dark, deadly and absolutely devoted to the FMC. I had my doubts about him, but he made amends and what transpired between him and Raine was rather scorching hot.
Overall, an interesting duet that kept me intrigued throughout.

Hum… well…what?…see….actually….LOL…no…yesssss…WHAT?….Noooooooo…..

That was me the entire book ! HOW DARE Brooklyn Cross made me feel all the emotions? I felt EVERYTHING !

Ok this is NOT your typical why choose romance. Let’s remember I don’t really like why choose because I ALWAYS cheer for 1 guy to be with the girl, I simply can not feel the same for all of them and that’s not how why choose should be. Have said that, LET ME TELL YOU THAT KAI OWNS ME !!!!!!!!!! Do I adore Avro and Jace? Yes I do. But did I keep praying Kai was with her the whole time by themselves? YES I DID !
Again this book is NOT your typical why choose romance, it’s not all fun and giggles, it’s not all sex and fun vibes, this book is Dark, Violent, it’s MC which I love it and the TRAUMA each character have is so sad. Brooklyn Cross did a fantastic job explaining each character and giving us their background story and their traumas. This was more focus on the guys since Malice was more focus on Raine.
This book picks up right where the first one left off. Avro surprised me, we thought previously that Avro was this sweet guy only focused on love. Well he is a strategist, he is a chess player, he is Machiavellian, he is the one moving the pieces on the board so all goes his way. He is AMAZING, he is brave and he has a love that’s unrivaled. Avro has a trauma in his past and he deals with some depression too that is very well hidden because he doesn’t want to be a burden.
Kai and Jace are more alike than they originally thought and that’s a BIG problem. Did I mention this is not your typical why choose romance ? Well Kai and Jace are brought into this relationship KICKING AND SCREAMING 😂 Kai because he can’t lose Raine now that he finally found her, Jace because he will do anything for Avro. But boy they do want to get rid of each other. HAHAH.
Jace is sexy, dominant, sarcastic and full of himself. He is a famous rockstar so he is cocky. It takes a little for him to warm up to Raine and to fall for her, but Avro is on a mission to make them love each other. So when they really start to hit it off 🥵🥵🥵🔥🔥🔥 OMG !
Kai is MY HEART ! Omg that man…… first of all I felt his rage, sadness, trauma and pain since the first book. He was not supposed to be like this. He had plans of becoming a different man than his father was. He wanted to go to College and have a family. All his dreams were tanked when he was sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit, he became a monster but he doesn’t want to be one. And don’t let me get started on Raine “thinking it was him”, how can you not even talk to YOUR BEST FRIEND, the person you love to confirm if he was the person attacking you? How can you not give the guy a chance? How can you believe he would do that if for 5 years his been nothing but supportive, loving, kind, protective and amazing ? That BAFFLED ME !
Kai wants to be with Raine but she doesn’t want to leave Avro and if to have Avro she needs to have Jace then so be it. She can see herself loving Jace eventually. Kai DOES NOT want to share her, he really is having a hard time with this situation, it goes against everything he is, he is so possessive, aggressive and INSANE. OMG the Clubhouse scene 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This book should have a HOT ALERT 🚨 it will cause severe blushing and it will make you question your morals . The chapters 23,24 and the epilogue almost BURNED my Kindle 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 and the whole time I was mad, one because these men don’t exist, and two because I will sadly never have these experiences…… 😭😭😭😭 That’s how you’ll feel when you read those chapters, trust me.
This book is so PACKED with story, plot, characters development and it also has humor because WILDER IS THE FUNNIEST, and Thank God for Wilder and his brilliant military background,I swear to God that there’s a scene that made me laugh out loud and till now when I remember I giggle. Also Kai’s inner monologues are super funny and the best.
The ending had me crying, I felt SO betrayed. Obviously since Kai is my favorite I felt as betrayed as he felt, I did NOT like how Brooklyn did some of the things there and I was angry. 😤 “protect Kai, protect Kai, protect Kai.” That’s how I felt. I even agreed with what Roach said to Raine. 😤😡 Roach is a great friend. The way Kai’s mind tricked him and how he went into a panic attack it literally BROKE ME ! 🥺😭
Than the actions in the end. Wow the WHOLE motorcycle club coming to help him 😭😭😭 packed with action, Chase finally showed he is going to be a good president. EVERYTHING ! EVERYTHING in this book was amazing to me. Will I read more why choose ? Probably not. They are really not my thing and you can tell by how defensive I am about Kai and how much more I loved him. But did I love this book regardless? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS ! Specially because it’s so well done and the story is amazing.

I’ve been waiting for this book!
Kai, Jace, and Avro have finally agreed to all be in a relationship with Raine. But it’s not without growing pains. The guys, especially Kai, struggle with sharing.
There is some crazy stuff that happens and poor Raine is caught up in it.
Wilder is hilarious as ever and really pulls through for Kai. There is an HEA but also a small cliffy.

AMAZING DUET

Run, don't walk, for this book! It's such a solid coming together and closure for Malice. It's a DCR, MMFM, MC, and Rockstar with a very hard earned HEA. Please be sure to pay attention to the author's notes for the TWs. Character thoughts: Raine is a strong FMC, Avro takes some time to get used to because he has a tendency to come off as pushy, Kai is 🔥🥵, and Jace is 🖤. Solid 5 stars, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I not only purchased for my digital library but also got the paperbacks for my home library. Yes, THAT GOOD! Enjoy!

Kai, Avro, and Jace find Raine and bring her home, but on her terms that she doesn’t choose and can have them all. Can Kai share? Will Kai and Jace come to blows? Will the past come and grab Raine? So many questions and they will be answered. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. Absolutely love Raine, Kai, Avro, and Jace. Raine’s character development was excellent I love the twists and turns. I can’t forget Wilder omg he’s the best. This duet has everything a great storyline and the spice is so hot.

Stop what you are doing and pick up Surrender because this book is a must read! Surrender is book 2 and the conclusion of the Lost Souls Duet: Snake, the first book is Malice and it needs to be read first.
I can’t say enough about the awesomeness that is this book. A complete roller coaster ride, just when you think you got it there is a drop or a loop. The book hits all of the emotions and Brooklyn does the most amazing job protesting and staying true to her characters! So like I said stop what you are doing and pick up this book ASAP!
