Dogku: Dog Haiku Poems, by: Ginny Tata-Phillips is a fabulous book! I am a huge fan of Haiku poems and when I came across this one about dogs--I was excited. The first part of this books teaches readers about what a Haiku poem is, which I thought was great! I felt this would a perfect mentor text when trying to teach poems--Haiku poems to students. Not to forget to mention is it about dogs and most students like animals. What stuck out to me about this book is that the poem is not just silly words used in a Haiku about a dog, but rather it teaches you what a dog is by using a Haiku poem. This is a great nonfiction Haiku poem book.

I would recommend this book, because it is a interesting book and could be used in more than one educational ways-- teaching Haiku poems and teaching about dogs--just to name a few.

I put all my heart into this book, and lots of my photos of dogs for which I pet sit. Co-author Ginny adds earthy humor and her own observations about living with or being a dog.

Interesting book of dogku. Love how the photos align to the haiku. Creative. What keeps this from being 5 stars is the dogku is a bit too literal for me. I like Haiku to make me think.
