I like all of the stories in this collection, except the Nativity Story. I am a Christian and it deeply offended me that Mary being a virgin was omitted from the story in this collection. I know this is not a collection of Christian stories, but that is how I feel because that is one of the pillars of the Christian faith. Just sayin'.
This book is a timeless classic - it is beautifully illustrated and is jam-packed full of hymns, poems, and stories. I have been reading it every Christmas for years. It is so lovely.
The book is divided into the following themes: The Magic of Christmas - which includes favorite songs like "Jingle Bells" and the heart-warming story of "The Gift of the Magi" amongst other interesting stories etc. Deck the Halls - lots of favorite carols like "O Christmas Tree" and "Holly and the Ivy" plus more Christmas Gifts - even has an extract from "Little Women" plus favorite carols like "We Three Kings," "Good King Wenceslas," "Twelve Days of Christmas," and "I Saw Three Ships" Christmas Cheer Christmas Around the World The First Christmas - lovely stories and favorite carols like "Silent Night." A timeless book to be read and enjoyed year after year. Would recommend.
