This is an exquisite, well-written novel which can be enjoyed on many levels. It is a coming-of-age story, a love story and a spiritual journey. I recommend it to adults because the book describes some violent events and some complex emotions and ideas. Eagle Vision is written from the perspective of an Indian man raised on and near a reservation in South Dakota. As the book's back cover says, Eagle Vision was written, published and illustrated by Indian people from the Plains tribes, so it might be classified as fictionalized biography. Author Ed McGaa focuses strongly on his characters' emotional and spiritual growth and offers a vision of unity among people of many cultures and religions, so the story speaks to a universal audience.
