Rate this book
This book covers all seven main elements of the Sioux the four tribes that made up the Dakota or eastern division – the Mdewakanton, Wahpekute, Sisseton, and Wahpeton. The Middle Sioux or Nakota division comprised the Yankton and Yanktonai; and the Western Sioux or Lakota Division- the largest subtribe outnumbering the other six together.

A general knowledge book about the family of Native American tribes collectively known as the Sioux. The book deals in a general way with the demographics, history, and culture of the Sioux. A large segment of the history chapter is related to the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Over fifty percent of this work is photographs and artwork with text sidebars. Overall, I would call it an adequate synopsis of the Sioux, sort of a "Cliff Notes" version.
