STEPHEN ALTER is the son of American missionaries to the Himalayas, and was raised in India. The author of seven books for adults, he is the former Writer-in-Residence at MIT, and a recipient of a Fulbright grant. He currently lives in India with his wife, where he is researching his newest book for adults—a behind the scenes look at the world of Bollywood.
One of the most disappointing books, I have ever read in my life. The author tries desperately to string together several disjointed stories of disillusioned people together in the novel. And as a reader when you finish the novel, you will be cursing yourself to have spent time reading this . Avoid...avoid... avoid
Beautifully written with great skill and humanity. A glimpse into the dying sub-culture of Anglo-Indians a community caught between countries and cultures in post British India. Told with great empathy and no judgement. Told from multiple view points this is a story of human loss, loneliness and love.
