Jodi's Story

Rate this book
Jodi was only a child when she was orphaned and taken into the care of a religious organization that hated everything that she was. They abused her physically and emotionally, robbed her of her culture and identity, and left her with emotional scars. This upbringing led to a life on the street, addicted to heroin and selling her body to feed its ever-growing chemical dependency. Stuck in this vicious circle with no way out, Jodi was helpless in the grasp of society's biases. Useless social systems seemed designed to keep the needy in their place. So, she lives on the razor's edge, only ever one misstep, and one unfortunate interaction away from becoming yet another sad statistic that no one bothers to keep track of.

In a life like Jodi's, what are the chances of her actually meeting someone who cares enough to see beyond the track marks, beyond her emaciated body that once stood tall and proud in its cultural heritage? Perhaps, someone caught in a vicious cycle all their own could understand...

With gripping imagery and stark detail, Jodi's Story is one that needs to be told. Just trying to survive, doing whatever needs to be done, Jodi reveals the humanity that most people don't want to consider.

Book #6
Jodi’s Story (no it’s not my husbands story haha)
This book as written by a local author , I have seen and heard so much about it from local friends I just had to check it out, and am I ever glad I did!!!!

Wow! Just Wow! I read this at the cottage and just did not want to put it down.

The story is about Jodi a girl who is placed in a residential school , and suffers the violence and abuse that we now know occurred at these horrible schools in Canada over the years.
She escapes the residential school and then sadly ends up being trafficked and ends up forced into a life of drugs and prostitution ….

I don’t want to give the whole outcome and storyline away but I highly recommend you purchase this book .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It is available on Amazon or you can purchase directly from the author Ashley Emily Girardin( I believe if you purchase directly from the author she will make more than if she has to sell through Amazon so please keep that in mind as this is her first book and she deserves all the profits she can receive )

I usually read non fiction. I am in mental healthy and addictions so I gave this book a try despite it being fictional given the authors real lived experience and passion I observed in an interview. I must say, it was very well written and gritty. The chapters were a perfect length to read and put down quickly for a busy parent. The amount of detail in the characters experience was incredible. It was very raw for sure so a hard read for the soft hearted. Great book for those who work with such vulnerable populations

Seriously wish I could give 4.75 ⭐️ I know the author and readers want honesty - and this book was excellent!
This first time author told a powerful story of the world that exists around us- the one which most of us try turn a blind eye to. It captivated me from the start and held my attention through the end- turning the last page to be left wanting more. Whether you like fiction, reality, chick flick, or thriller- this one is worth your time :)
Fast-paced, page-turner!

I couldn’t put the book down, it was certainly a page turner. I look forward to more books by Emily Leigh Curtis.
