Synopsis:
Megan York, a devoted single mom and police officer in a close-knit town, is thrust into a chilling case when a body is discovered dangling from a water tower in a nearby town. Megan is called to the scene to investigate this macabre display—a clear message from a serial killer with a disturbing M.O.

As Megan digs deeper, she battles not just the psychological warfare posed by the killer’s twisted methods but also an intensely personal adversary: her violent ex—recently released from prison—whose looming presence threatens to destroy both her professional footing and personal safety.

Thoughts:
Compared to You’ll be Sorry: This sequel was more enjoyable than the first. There are still some words in there that nobody uses. I really liked how the killer hung the corpse from a water tower, the previous book was kinda basic.

Over all, it was a good 1 day read and totally free (I think, I could have bought it a long time ago..).
Would I buy the rest of the series? Probably.

Be careful of who you trust

A good read. Megan & her partner Niall have just been called to a suspected suicide but it all seems too perfect. When another victim turns up they realise that they could be related. But who would want the victims dead? Will they find the killer before someone else dies? Is Megan about to finally accept the truth about her ex or will she believe that everyone is against her?
Megan is a strong woman a good mother that is trying her best and even if it means allowing her ex back into her life. Is she making a mistake only time will tell. Niall is the partner that has feelings for her but he is too scared that it will change their relationship. Is there a chance for this big hearted guy?

Megan is facing a serial killer who leaves his victims in water-related places. It takes time for her and her team to put together all the possible links among the victims and to identify possible culprits. At the same time, she is struggling in her personal life, as her ex-husband has been left out of jail and wants to reconnect with their daughter. She also has to deal with interference from friends and family in her personal life. She puts herself and her partner in the line of danger to catch the culprit after lots of searching. Great story with plenty of questions left open for the next book!
I thank the author for this ARC.

Bring more backup! Megan and Niall are a good team and he is learning all the time, almost like he reads her mind sometimes. He senses that something is wrong between her and Spencer but is too invested to do anything about it not wanting to spoil his and her relationship at work and any chances he might have outside work. They work well together but really should not go it alone when springing a trap, she is not strong enough to fight the big boys. Spotting the opportunity and setting a trap for the killer is the only way they were going to get him he was too random to figure out any logical way, good story and keep an eye on Spencer I think.

Book 2 in the Megan York suspense thriller series. Another serial killer this one upset with the utility company employees who he felt were responsible for doing less than adequate jobs protecting the counties lakes and water supplies. She also has to contend with her ex con ex husband’s reemergence in her life as he pleads to spend time with his daughter after his release from prison. Fast paced and intriguing it was worth my time. Considering continuing the series either next or after a short break.

Listened to the audiobook. Not only did the narrator do a much better job than the first of the series (You'll Be Sorry), but the storytelling was also an improvement. I'd rate this at 3.5 & will look for the next in the series (You'll Be Mine)

The story picked up just where the first book ended.

3.5 stars.

I appreciated the development of the story - water was involved in each death and/or location. It takes time to 'connect the dots' and makes for a satisfying story.

Deduction of half star is a hangover from book 1 - I admit that Megan's sister had a much smaller part in this story but the moment the sister appeared my enjoyment of the book was greatly reduced.

kind of a weird premise to this book with the water companies & all that. still not much development with the daughter or ex

i mean i enjoyed the book, it was a good overall plot but the whole water companies thing was just odd to me i guess

(also, why do readers write a synopsis of the book instead of a review? we already have the synopsis 🥴)

Good read

I liked the plot of the book, especially since it was about ecological damage. Megan is investigating murders that were seemingly unconnected, but were they? Characters were interesting and I liked how they interacted.

Based on prior books by Ava Strong, I had looked eagerly to reading You'll Be Next. However, this book was almost boring. I don't know if it was the subject of the plotline or something else, but I was slightly bored by this book.

Too long not much happening

No real detective work, Too long. More about the ex than the real story, obviously the start of the next book or to keep the them going on next book. It's just pathetic and not much happening.

Enjoyable but needed more snappy writing and dialogue. The characters kept me going more than the plot. I cared about them.
