When Clint Carmichael died, he left a shattered wife and four children. Someone had to take over the reins of the Starlight Ranch.
That someone was twenty-three-year-old Deacon. Now, ten years later, the multi-million-dollar ranch is running smoothly under his command. His family, not so much.
Deacon’s siblings don’t always appreciate his inherent need to take care of everything and everybody. But he’s determined to carry on the family legacy to honor their father. If that means taking on a paternal role, so be it.
Running a ranch and a family are two full-time jobs. There’s no room or time to look for a relationship. Deacon’s fine with that. He has no interest in getting tangled up with a woman.
But when Cassidy O’Hare comes to town, he starts to wonder if being alone is what he really wants. One problem. She’s dating his brother.
With the Carmichaels, family comes first, along with loyalty and honor. Cassidy can never be his.
Cassidy may very well find her happily ever after at the Starlight Ranch. But which Carmichael brother with be by her side when she does?
Deacon is the first book in the four book Carmichael Series. It’s the beginning of a family saga with family loyalty, humor, handsome cowboys, and a hard won romance.
Leigh Spends her days with cute, sexy guys. Unfortunately, they’re on paper. But still, not a bad way to spend your day. She also writes about strong, independent women who can hold their own against these irresistible guys. She’s not a pure romance writer because she breaks the rules a bit. But that’s the fun part. Leigh’s stories have adventure, family relationships, and the struggles life throws at you sometimes. But boy always meets girl. They tussle a bit while they figure out what they really want. Then find their happily ever after, even though it might not be what they thought it was going to be. But the most amazing thing about this is, she does it all with a dog on her lap. Her muse may not be one of her book boyfriends. But a cute dog is the next best thing.
You will want to read this complete series. I started with the last book first and it made the whole set come together. It gave me a sense of the family base and values. This is a fantastic story and makes you feel good. I couldn't stop reading at times. Good thing I am retired as I lost some sleep. I am looking forward to reading mire of Leigh Fenty's books.
First time his brother saw her, he said he was in love. Unfortunately the first she kissed him she fell for him not his brother so the stage was set for the big misunderstanding. As the oldest brother e had to step aside and let his brother have her but she had other ideas and told him there wasn't any fireworks. Enjoy
I liked this cowboy romance of a stubborn, grumpy cowboy named Deacon Carmichael. He has sworn off relationships, but can’t get the woman his brother likes out of his mind. Cassidy O' Hare is the granddaughter of a fellow rancher. Can Deacon walk away? Read the book! James Romick did a great job with the narration.
I liked this story. I enjoy Western type stories only this was on another level altogether. The rich and famous Carmichaels. What will Tobias be dong next. Since Cassidy and Deacon will be together?
Wow I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters had man e smiling and even laughing so many times. It turned out different than I thought it would, but it had a perfect ending.
Deacon is determined to carry on the family legacy, he is running a ranch and a family are two full-time jobs. He is not looking for love. That is until Cassidy makes him change is mind, problem is she’s dating his brother.
I love Texas, I love cowboys and I loved this book. Feisty Texans make for entertaining characters and this book came through to me. I definitely recommend this story if you enjoy the allure of cowboys and the southwest.
Big brother of 2 brothers and 1 sister, mother’s caretaker, Ruth the housekeeper helps out wherever needed. Cassidy ends up being the love of his life with a lot going in on before that ever happens. Enjoy.
The characters and storyline were good, but it’s lacking in drama and emotions. It’s a good romance novel if that’s all want. Personally I enjoy books that are page turners.
Not a terrible book by any means but I like some spice in my books. This had only steam..very mild at that. It's so mild that I would probably recommend it to my religious aunt (who tends to read very tame amish love stories) Again....nothing wrong with the book, it's just not my vibe.
Loved this family. The brothers, their rivalry, family love. Brotherly code, respect for one another and the woman that they are in love with. Ranch life. The Carmichael Ranch lifestyle.
Reading "Deacon" is like an introduction to a normal family that you want to know more. Can't wait to read "Tobias" and learn more about the Carmichael family!
An opposite attraction thing going on here, and our heroine winds up dating the wrong brother! A mix up with lots of consequences! Makes for a fun read!
Poor rich folks with too much money and all the world at their fingertips. Horses and galas. Money and real love. A nice mix with nice people. Short and fun.
DNF at 20%. I got tired of all the crying over elitism. Not condoning or condeming, reading the word "elite" 500 times (very slight exagerration) in 40 pages was just a bit much. Boring.
Absolutely did not want to put this book down. The setting, characters, family and friends! The barn and horses was a major plus. Thank you ! Looking forward to the next book.
