Can Poppy find the courage to risk triple the love--and triple the heartbreak?
Poppy Maguire is tired of being a loser. Emotionally neglected as a child, she wants to find the courage to leave her family and the job she hates. She desperately wants to make a change. The brothers blow her mind by offering her the family and love she’s always longed for. But do they realize what they’re in for? Cody is moving a little too fast, Michael may not be in for the long haul, and Trevor is a bit self-centered.
In order for Poppy to have the extraordinary love she fears she hasn't earned, everyone is going to have to do some growing. But can she break free from the bad seed of her abusive family and have the courage to bloom?
Stephanie Beck is a full time mom, part time writer and ameture speller.
She's been writing since she was fifteen. Her first novel, "Love on the Mats" was a graphic, heartwarming tale of a wrestler and a cutie coed which was lovingly edited by the c-squad basketball team on the long bus rides throughout the season. They were all sure it would be published and it still has a home in a folder...somewhere.
Stephanie Beck loves romance and all things romantic, heart warming and usually funny, though a more serious piece will find its way in occasionally.
In her spare time she knits and sews, walks the dog, plays with her two wonderful daughters and tries to get her husband to act out the naughty things she researches...oh the sacrifices she makes for her craft.
I got this book from ARe. I saw it had a committed menage and a preggo heroine and that is a trope I love. I realized by chapter 2 that I might have a problem with it. Too much of the premise was a pale imitation of the Colters series by Maya Banks. Three brothers all looking for a Ms. Right to share. They find her, she gets pregnant, then shot. They take her home to their family mountain to recover. The brothers have 3 dads (2 brothers+1cousin) and that's how they knew that sharing a wife is what they wanted. Then that's where the imitation ended and true wtfery begins.
Graphic language and wtfery are in the spoiler section.
Improved upon reread, increasing to 3 stars ( from 2)! This was definitely slow burn, there is no insta love; if not for the pregnancy not sure they would have even got together. It also wasn't fun reading about the Hs' manho past and their notorious foursomes romps with many many women or them being in love before. It helped that h wasn't a virgin and had dated a bit. The h was irritating, she was so hard on herself, a people pleaser and doormat, she put up with abusive behaviour and patterns. I didn't enjoy being in her head but she got more confident with the help of the H's which was good and the HEA was believable. Readers who enjoy slow burn and sexy MFM menage romance will like this book!

When reading a book like this, I don’t really expect there to be much depth to the characters or the storyline, but I was pleasantly surprised by how fond I became of the brothers, Michael, Trevor and Cody. There was something very vulnerable about them and yet, very strong and capable. They’d been waiting for so many years to find that one woman who could love them all and who they could love in return, someone who would accept their very unorthodox lifestyle, not just as some kinky sex-fest, but a relationship that could become permanent – a family in every sense of the word.
Enter Poppy Maguire, a young woman who, despite her family’s constant criticism of her, grew into an amazingly caring, giving person. The way her family misused her and treated her with such disdain would have caused most people to become timid, withdrawn, but not Poppy. She was strong, successful and independent and when she happened to meet the brothers in a bar one night, there was an instant attraction, but having heard of their reputation and what they expected from their women, sexually, she was certain that they could never be more than friends. However, after spending some time together, getting to know one another, she starts to think that maybe…just maybe… they really could become something more.
Unfortunately for them all, a family emergency called the brothers back home and it was several months before the four of them were able to make contact again. I especially enjoyed this first part of the story. The interaction, non-sexual to begin with, was fun to read. There was such an easy comfort between them all. However, once they had reunited and Poppy made the trip back to the brothers’ Montana home, I found some of the things that happened kind of cheesy. I understand that the author was trying to show us the reactions that Poppy received from the intolerant people in the surrounding community, but it felt forced to me – like a token scene of bigotry. And I felt like the story became a little too narrative. We spent a lot of time in Poppy’s head while she hashed and rehashed the same fears and concerns over and over. I found myself skipping large sections just to get through those parts.
One of the things I appreciated about this erotic short story was how much time was devoted to showing not just the pleasures of the sexual side of a polygamous relationship, but the difficulties that might arise when 4 people try to blend their lives together in a committed relationship. If you’ve ever lived with someone, other than a platonic roommate, you know how hard it can be for all the personalities to mesh, to complement one another, and so seeing this side of the relationship highlighted, made Poppy’s Passion more than just a chance to write about sex with 4 people, but it actually felt more like a fully developed story about people, their lives and the same things that couples in more traditional relationships deal with. And maybe it was just the mood I was in, but I didn’t find the sexual scenes all that hot or intense.
As I said, I was quite fond of Michael, Trevor and Cody, but there was something about Poppy that just didn’t do it for me. She seemed so emotionally detached throughout the story and I never found myself hoping, despite the brothers’ deep affection for her, that they’d find their happily ever after.
Growing up without love, Poppy Maguire has taken everything thrown at her with stride. When her fiancee leaves her after a miscarriage, it is just another negative that she pushes aside, her only bright spot lately is the friendship she has begun to build with Cody, Michael and Trevor Paraby. The three brothers are in town and have befriended her, she knows there reputation with women but they have not pressed her into anything more than friendship. When an incident leaves her needing comfort, she spends one night in their arms with the promise there will be more in the future.
Four months later they return, wishing they could have been there sooner and find Poppy pregnant with their babies. Cody, Trevor, and Michael are thrilled but Poppy's upbringing is making it hard for her to understand the love they are showering her with and hoping it could last.
This was actually a reread, I had not realizesd I had read but all the same excellent. Very detailed when it comes to the emotions of each character and I thought the way the author handles outside disruptipons was practical and you could easily see it happening.
1/3 I must be addicted or something. Decided to reread again, I really like this story. This time for me Trevor stood out the most, he is blunt and humorous but also vulnerable when it comes to Poppy. Great story.
In some ways, this story reminds me a bit of Colter’s Woman by Maya Banks. For example, I found the same dedication of the men toward the heroine. The same passion and commitment. It is also three heroes in both stories. In both, I found this sweetness and romance and I felt equally in love with all the heroes.
But the comparison stops here. In Poppy’s passions, the heroine is definitely a strong heroine. She is not helpless and looking for protection. She had a terrible childhood but she is not a whinny heroine. She is mature and her insecurities are normal.
I think what I enjoyed the most is the step by step love story. It was not a meet you, fuck you & marry me within a week like I often read and deplore. It was one step at a time from lust to friends with benefits to lifetime lovers. In a way, the heroes had to tame her and prove their love. And they totally succeeded.

If you haven’t read this story and even if you read it already, do it. This is the kind of story that will give you smiles. I totally related with the heroine. I loved the heroes and wished they were mine. I liked the path of the story. Stephanie Beck found the right words to use and I was happy to follow poppy’s love journey. It was not over dramatic and it felt just right. The sex scenes were just at the right moment, not too much not too little. However, I would say that this story is more focused on the love story rather than the sex so if you are looking for a sex scene every 10 pages, then it is not the right story for you.
I think the author has potential, but this effort fell just a bit short for me. The first half was choppy and I felt a disconnect. I would be anticipating that something was going to happen...a conflict, a surprise, whatever...and then the story moved on and I was left disappointed. The second half certainly flowed better and was more enjoyable. As another reviewer mentioned, the brothers were easy to like. Not perfect, but with some qualities that made them realistic. The character of Poppy, however, did not resonate with me. I just felt there was something lacking and I wanted to see more feeling from her character. Will look forward to the next book by Ms. Beck as her writing matures.
Poppy was raised to feel bad by herself. Blamed for the death of their mother, her father and sisters have done what they can to belittle herself. Working as a nurse, Poppy does what she can do to help but not everyday ends with a happy ending. On one terrible day she finds herself seeking comfort from her friends Cody, Michael, and Trevor Paraby. Never in Poppy's life did she think of being part of a menage but when she ends up pregnant all three men are out to prove they are worth her love.
One of my favorites. Cody is probably my favorite. Goes into the intricacies of menage lifestyle including the hurdles they all have in front of them.
I was pleasantly surprised. It was deeper than I expected. Poppy is fairly well adusted considering her family and upbringing. The brothers are strong yet vulnerable and not afraid to let Poppy see it. Looking forward to more from this author.
As a disclaimer, I should say this is not the type of novel I would normally choose to read, and I have to admit that I only started reading it because I know the author and wanted to support her talents.
However, after the first chapter, I was hooked. This is a great guilty pleasure book. The story line is great. Before reading, I had a sheltered "that could never happen in real life" attitude, but Ms. Beck's writing draws you in to the taboo world of polyandry, somehow making it seem like a normal, everyday occurrence. There are even parts where a reader could be jealous of Poppy and all the love and affection given to her by the Paraby brothers. Although a few parts definitely made me blush (sheltered, remember?), I can't wait to read more by Stephanie Beck!

I loved this story! It is hard not to like the Paraby brothers, and Poppy is perfection. I can completely identify with her character. Vulnerable but independent is hard to pull off, but Poppy does it well. I am definitely a sucker for romantic menage stories, and this has to be one of my favorites. At the end of this book you will have no doubts about the love between these characters. This is a beautiful story!
This note Added 19 May 2013. Poppy's Passions is having a make-over and is due for re-release on 17th June 2013. Around this time there will be...Prodigal Poppy--a FREE short. Also Mary's Men--the prequel novel to Poppy's Passions will release in November! I got this information from the author's web page.
A decent story. It was fun watching the relationships develop between Poppy and the brothers. It wasn't that emotionally engaging, though. And the sex, while fairly detailed, feels out of place with the general tone of the story. Instead of being a turn-on, it was just...awkward.
Loved Poppy's Passions, is a Cinderella story with 3 Prince Charming's. Poppy is a ER nurse with a family that barely tolerates her and only wants her around when they want something. She meets and becomes fast friends with three brothers who also happen to be great guys at her neighborhood bar. The brothers have a reputation of sharing women, and of loving and leaving. Poppy is looking or her Prince Charming. The Patrich/Paraby brothers are in town for the stock car races and have really taken a liking to the cute and kind ER nurse. They are from a poly family and are looking for what their parents have, a women to share that they can love and love them in return and they think Poppy is that women. A bad day at work leads Poppy to the bar and the comfort of her new friends, which lead to a night of passion with the brothers only to end abruptly when the guys are called home due to a family emergency. There are consequences to their night and Poppy is unable to track down the brothers. A chance meeting at the ED 4 months later brings the men back into her life and they have been looking for her too! The men take Poppy home and try to convince her that they want her forever. A very sweet and steamy like to love story. I loved Poppy and her men, I loved the guys parents and how they accepted Poppy into the family and offered no pressure guidance and support.
This book is one of my favorite ménage books that I have read many times. Not only is it about a loving relationship between four people but shows that people hate what they don't understand. Poppy McGuire is a nurse whose fiance has dumped when she miscarried their child. She has made friends with the Paraby brothers when they came in town for a racing event. While at first she only wanted to friends things change for her when a really rotten day at work occurs and the brothers offer comfort. This book shows the commitment that each person in the relationship has to make to ensure the relationship works. Not everyday is a bed of roses. This book has been compared Maya Bank's Colter series but these are totally different stories and this story is more personal and in depth to me. I totally love it.
This had quite a bit more plot than is normal for this sort of erotica. It's always difficult to sell the idea that three brothers are going looking for this sort of relationship. Here at least there was a fairly convincing back story that helped. Pretty well written and I was glad to see some concern that not everyone in town was all onboard with this life style either for themselves or for others. There are always going to be bigoted people and that is built in conflict for long term ménage stories. Too many authors ignore this easy plot point. Oh well liked it overall.
This book was okay, I enjoyed it but it was very light and superficial without any character development. You really don't get to know any of the characters beyond the surface. It's alluded that they have underlying issues, but most of them are never actually discussed. At the end I was left feeling very meh, and I won't be reading the next one.
I love surprise baby stories and I also love reverse harem so this was the perfect story for me. Poppy was easy to love. There is some hot romance with a little drama mixed in. I would read more from this author.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I initially began reading Poppy’s Passions by Stephanie Beck because I love ménage stories. I was expecting a lot of hot, steamy sex, but I got so much more than I had hoped. Not only did this book leave me hot and bothered, but I was pleasantly surprised by how emotionally riveting the story was. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down.
Poppy Maguire meets the Paraby boys when they are town for a car race. The four immediately click and develop true friendship. And it’s that friendship that leads the men to comfort Poppy after a hard day in her job as a nurse. The comfort turns physical and the four enjoy a night of great passion. Unfortunately a family emergency pulls the guys away the very next morning. When Poppy realizes that the one night of delight has left her pregnant with twins, she is unable to find the Parabys. Fast forward four months and they are back in town for another race. They run into Poppy at the hospital and discover her pregnancy.
Poppy returns with Cody, Trevor and Michael to their home in Montana and discovers that their parents are involved in a polyandrous relationship. They want that type of relationship with Poppy and work on convincing her that they can be a family.
I loved all three of the Paraby men. Each one was special in his own right and offered something different to Poppy. Any one of them would make a great husband, but combine all three and what woman could resist.
Poppy came into the relationship with a lot of baggage. She lacked confidence from the constant criticism of her family. She really grows emotionally throughout the story as the men’s love teaches her that she is worthwhile.
One of the things that I enjoyed about the writing is that Ms. Beck kept things so real. The heroes are not always perfect and they do and say dumb things sometimes. The dialogue was sometimes strange but I found it endearing. After all, most people don’t speak like romance characters. One example is a conversation between Poppy and Cody about his love for her.
“What you are offering is like eating too much chocolate, but if I ate ten pounds I would probably vomit. I don’t want that to happen with us.”
It may sound funny, but my husband and I have had similar silly conversations like this one.
I also appreciated that Ms. Beck showed the difficulty involved in this type of relationship. A blending of two people in a relationship is difficult enough, but blending four people presents its own set of challenges. And there is also the public reaction to a multiple relationship. The conversations between Poppy and Mary about how Mary dealt with this situation were heartfelt and sweet.
Luckily the end of the book is not the end of the story. Ms. Beck has written two other novellas that continue the story of Poppy and her men. I’m glad because when I come to care about characters like I care about Poppy, Michael, Cody and Trevor, then I want to know how their relationship is continuing.
I absolutely adored this book! Whether you’re a massive fan of ménage, or even if it isn’t usually your thing, let me tell you that this is one you really shouldn’t miss! And I’ll definitely be reading more by this author because Ms Stephanie Beck can write! As in, I was so caught up in this story I totally lost all sense of time and place.
Now, we have Poppy, who is the kind of heroine you're rooting for straight away. She’s not perfect and she has family issues, and within the first page your physically crossing your fingers hoping everything works out for her.
Then we have the boys, Cody, Michael and Trevor. Each one of them would be mouth-watering on their own, but all together you just can’t help feeling a little bit jealous of Poppy. The three brothers were very different and loveable in their own way. Each one of them stands out, and the author really takes the time to let us get to know each one, what they like, what they don’t like and what makes each one of them tick. I felt like I knew each one personally, and at no point was I getting them mixed up.
And, as if that wasn’t enough to get you interested, there are also the boys’ parents who add a whole new aspect to the story. You really get swept up in the family life, and you see that they’ve had to overcome so many issues it makes you want to read all about them…and you will be able to! Now I’m just itching to get my hands on the prequel, Mary’s Men which releases in October from Beachwalk Press.
So if you’re looking for a romance that super sexy, and has an amazing story (and who wouldn’t want these things) then this is definitely the book for you!
Poppy has an emotionally abusive family. They blame her for her mothers death. This was marginally believable. Her nieces and nephews love her and her sisters mock her. (Think Cinderella-ish). She is a nurse in a futile attempt to win her fathers approval. She hates her job and starts hanging out at a local bar drinking her cares away with frou frou drinks. She meets Cody who buys her food to go with her alcohol. She talks with the other two brothers. She has heard the boys like to "tag team" one girl. She is intrigued but thinks it's too much for her. She hooks up with Cody for a fling. Michael and Trevor show up. She says what the hell and then think might as well. Next thing she knows she's pregnant with twins. Not sure how to get ahold of the brother trio since they live a distance away. She ends up in a relationship with all three guys. Their parents are in the same type of relationship. I enjoyed the story. I have read this book several years ago and though I really enjoyed reading it again, Poppy's mewly, weakish personally was irritating. I gave it 4 stars the first time I read it. I would say now 3.5 stars.

This is my second Stephanie Beck book, and I loved it. It can get complicated in a poly-amorous story keeping track of all of the different characters. But in this case all three heros were believable, enjoyable and had their own personalities. While I still don't completely understand from the male perspective why 3 would want to share one woman, I love the romance, the hot couple and group sex, and mostly how cherised the heroine is throughout the whole story. Who wouldn't want all of that nurturing and caring + multiple hot orgasms? Sort of a no brainer . . . and Poppy didn't take too long to get over her initial reservations.
I also liked how involved the in-laws were (one MIL + 3 FILs). They rounded out the family and really made the story about a whole community.
Great new author for me! Looking forward to seeing more.
I liked this take on a RH. it was a bit different from many others. Everyone was a bit more human, a bit flawed. Bodies weren't perfect and there were plenty of insecurities to go around. Mistakes were made by all and it made me love each character and want happiness even more for all of them.
Poppy is a nurse with low self-esteem and a horrid family. Michael, Cody and Trevor are three brothers looking for the perfect woman to love and create one family with. Each man is a well-defined character and each relationship is different, yet they all work together. It's a sign of a good RH when I can't choose a favorite guy. Enjoyable read.
Ok read. Kind of fell a little flat for me. A couple of holes in the time line that were a little confusing. Liked Poppy. Liked the brothers, and I also liked how they weren't absolutely "perfect". I don't think I have ever read a romance where a hero had "a little stomach"! I enjoyed the brothers family, and liked the tension with puppy's relatives. I was confused whey her ex thought the baby was his--even if she didn't miscarry, couldn't he figure that out by counting months--he's a doctor!
I loved this book, it was a great emotional read and enjoyed from start to finish.
I loved the brothers, they all have there faults but they all have there strengths too, they made mistakes and sometimes they handled things in just the right way. Poppy was a interesting character and considering her background, was still a caring, strong person when she allowed herself to be. She didn't always handle situations well but had a forgiving heart when needed.
Well is I had to have 3 loving , wonderful , caring and handsome man al to myself I probably would pick the paraby brothers too.
I love the book . I wish there was more dialogue but it s a great read and you feel like somehow it s a true story . ( I hope someone is having this good of a time )
Fun. Interesting relationship dynamics, though I felt the author could have gone a bit more into how everyone interacted since there seemed to be so much focus on it as an alternate lifestyle. Oh well, still fun.
I thought this was pretty good even though I thought that the drama from Poppy's family and ex were a little over the top, but otherwise, it was a quick read, with a lot of naughty sex in it.
