Lewell'yn’s situation would be difficult enough without receiving deliberately false information, and now he’s light-years from reliable help and saddled with the two huge a fiercely passionate healer, and a sweet, innocently sexy chef.

I’ve been in love with words since before I drew breath, and I don’t see that ever changing. I write stories. Sometimes I write music with them, sometimes they’re poems, and lately, to my great delight, M/M erotic romance.
Yum.
Smexy man to the second…or third power…now that’s the kinda math I can get behind!!
The hair curls or frizzes as it will, the eyes are green and tend to look in two different directions—no, really—and the rest is subject to change. You know the guy who didn’t know if he was a butterfly dreaming he was a man or a man dreaming he was a butterfly? Yeah, that’s me, but substitute drag queen for butterfly and wacky, wild ex-Army chick for man.

A dry sense of humor, a liking of snarkiness, and an ability to deal with – interesting – language are required to enjoy this book. In many ways a traditional ‘space adventure’, including space pirates and flawed heroes, this story is also an non-traditional and very moving love story between three very unlikely partners. Not that any one of them would admit to the emotion between them. Oh, yes, and to top it all off we have some male pregnancy to make things even more interesting.

Lewell’yn takes some getting used to. His tone is abrasive, his background mysterious and the way he deals (or doesn’t deal) with his fellow sentient beings aboard the space pirate’s ship is atrocious. Until he meets and gets to know Kayron and Tian, Lewell’yn is a total bastard. It was interesting for me to watch how he slowly redeems himself, never admitting to the change, but inexorably moving closer to acknowledging he has a softer side.

Tian is an enigma. Enslaved and on his way to become prey for a cruel species of hunters, he is definitely more than he seems. He is a chef, which made me smile, because there aren’t many stories about ‘chefs in space’. Tian is wonderful, and he thinks about everything in terms of food. Even his cursing is around ‘burnt soufflés’. His road is not an easy one, and I hated that he had to suffer so much. Thank God he is stronger than he looks!

Kayron is a medic, but has quite a few secrets as well. His obsession with ‘a proper cup of tea’ is hilarious, and his sense of humor is much needed as the three men try to survive their adventures. He is just as supportive and determined as Tian, and once he decides there is no need to choose between Lewell’yn and Tian, there is no stopping him.

I really liked the sense of mystery, cloak-and-dagger events and pure no-holds-barred adventure-in-space this book exudes. The mix of humor and deadly danger worked well for me, and the relationship these three men develop was both hot and very romantic. If you want to read a space adventure that makes you laugh, a romance that makes you hot and a fun story which is so unlikely it will make your mind boggle, this is a book you will enjoy as much as I did.

I had liked Cherie Noel's writing style from her free short Kiss and Tell so I was looking forward to this release. Then I heard about a scene that perhaps made me a little hesitant... Well, I'm glad I did read it, after all.

Admittedly, the beginning is a bit dry as it is essentially a personal internal monologue - Llewellyn's thoughts - about things that yet had to make sense. I did find, though, bit by bit, information began to pull together, and the snarky-edge to his thoughts became quite amusing even if you didn't really know what the hell he was rambling on about. So given this unusual beginning, I was unprepared for how things really took off once Tian and Kay were introduced in the novel. Wow!

Llewellyn, Kay and Tian are completely different to each other, yet as we get to know them, we find that Llewellyn's icy personality hides an inner gentleness and Tian's almost TSTL personality hides an amazing inner strength, a sharp mind and a never-ending well of trust once he gives it. Oddly, Kay is probably the hardest to pin down, but again his outer professional easy-going personality hides the inner man - a man wounded and lonely. None of the men though, were prepared for what happens when they come together. Sure, the fact that each found that they were strongly to two men was somewhat unexpected but they were unprepared to be a catalyst for a roller-coaster ride of violence, cruelty, surprising new relationships, and revealed secrets that leaves them reeling, questioning all that they thought they knew about themselves, their past and the world around them.

This novel, apart from the opening scene, is an action-packed adventure, with complex slow-to-be-revealed characters and clever snarky dialogue. I know this will not be a read for everyone, especially with all the violence, but I loved it and look forward to more in this series and from Cherie Noel.

P.S. I suspect this might be one of those novels where re-reading it reveals a bit more the second time around... Hmm...

What happens when you mix a psychotic assassin, a sharp tempered doctor, and a gorgeous sweetie of a chef?

Wow. Sometimes a book just hits with you, and this is what happened here. It's a funny thing, because the book had its problems. My biggest was that the overly inflected narration reads like an unending reaction shot. That can be great at times, because the characters' voices are very distinct and often hilarious, but unfortunately here it results in a kind of perennial narrative coyness. Specifics about this world are only given in tiny bits and pieces, and key points are often tossed out where they're not particularly helpful. The effect is unnecessarily frustrating and opaque, and means the sci-fi aspects and the world itself never come fully into focus. There are still a lot of things about the world I don't understand, including even the point of the mission Lewell'yn was on, or the role of this lost tribe. The book is listed as the first in a series, but until that sequel appears, the reader is left with a lot of questions.

That being said, this has to be my favorite, and I mean FAVORITE, ménage story I've ever read. This, I now understand, is how you write a threesome. The three men in the story are very different, but they are each fully drawn and given full importance in the story, and each is definitely more than he seems. Crucially, the dynamic between them in every permutation could not be more highly charged. I liked Kayron the best, but Lewell'yn is an absolutely smoldering alpha, and Tian is especially successful in the (very difficult to pull off) role of virginal twink. Luckily for my sanity, Lewell'yn is the quintessential loose canon, who never loses his intensity or descends (oh horror) into gooey marshmallow lurve after he accepts his feelings for (and impregnates) his two lovers, but remains volatile and oh-so-dominant til the end.

The whole book serves as a helpful reminder that in the best erotic writing, scenes with no actual sex are as hot or hotter than scenes with full-frontal X-rated action--and happily for my smutty imagination, there are plenty of hints of off-screen scenarios that leave even the margins steamed up.

So the bottom line is, the sci-fi may fall short, but the blistering ménage relationship more than makes up for it. I'm already willing to check the favorite/reread box for this one. And can we get the damned sequel, like, yesterday!

horrible. i really wanted to like this story but I couldn't cuz I got bored. There was so much wasted monologue that could have been constructed as dialogue or action -insteads paragraphs and paragraphs of monologues of both heroes brough the story down to a boring, torture level. i gave up!

I really enjoyed the story, though some of the brogue was a bit too thick and rather distracting. The characters are unique, particularly Lewell'yn, and also the race as a whole. There are several questions left at the end of the story which I hope will be covered in the rest of the series, but this felt complete. (They were questions I could live with not knowing the answers to right now, but I expect to see them come back up in later stories.)

The one thing that rather pissed me off was that two of the MCs kept looking at other men with interest. And I don't mean that they're looking at someone else and thinking "he's hot," which doesn't bother me (that's normal), but rather that they're thinking "he's hot" AND giving them serious consideration when they've barely been with their current men more than a few days (or weeks) and they're supposed to be super-hot for each other. I just found that totally unappealing. And I don't really think it was the intent, just how it came out to me. Whatever. YMMV.

In general, the descriptive language felt a bit over the top in some places. I pulled out the dictionary a few times. (Not sure if that's a compliment or a detriment. Suppose that depends on one's mood. Felt like a detriment in this case, which I suppose is why I'm mentioning it, but I readily admit that last typo I saw right at the end of the story put me in a bad mood, so I may be in a worse place mentally than I would have been otherwise. I had the thought before coming across that issue, though, so maybe it's still how it felt.)

And there weren't that many typos in this (or rather, the brogue was so thick in some places you wouldn't notice them if they were), but there were some that just leapt off the page so heinously that it seemed like there were more than there actually were. It was annoying, whichever it was.

All in all, the characters and the story are definitely worth the read. I'm going to chalk the issues up to mine and perceived more than actual. I'll definitely read the rest of the series because I enjoyed the read. (Go easier on the special language though, please.)

Strange for a science fiction book or science fantasy book in that none of the 'magical' elements are ever really explained. This book is about a relationship between three guys and how it develops. It happens to take place in a semi-magical alternative universe with faster-than-light space travel and more. But there is no real exploration or explanation of the worlds or species. The... top... has sparkly grey/silver eyes and grows and transforms himself. Everyone gets powers. There is some explanation, but whenever anyone starts explaining something, they seem to get interrupted, usually by sex. I think the world could be interesting, but it needs to be explained and explored to make this a story about alternative worlds.

This is, instead, a story about sex and magically good sex. The sex isn't poorly written. I think the romance, the relationships... the emotion... is rather poorly captured. There is some rape at the center of the story and all sorts of slavery and at least of a couple of times where consent is at least somewhat unclear. Lewell'yn, the "Hero" has enormous power and brains and seems to always be in control, even when he is unconscious, while Tian and Kayron are basically just helpless, cute sex toys. Yes, Tian can cook and Kayron is a very intelligent medic, but they both seem to want to be raped by every man they meet, including each other. I don't think the characters are that badly done, although the easiest way to distinguish between them is their accents, but the relationship is never explained, except by instincts that are never explained. The relationship is fate, not choice and that isn't love.

I've had a hard time coming up with a rating and review for this one. I'm stuck somewhere between a 3 and a 4.

It started off with a bang for me. I loved it. It had enough going on that it sucked me right in. I love how the author infuses her writing with a snarky sense of humor. I immediately fell in love with the characters as well. Lewell'yn was fabulous, by far my favorite. There's just something about a badass that can slit a mans throat one minute, protecting that which he has deemed 'his' and immediately turn around with an "it's ok Peaches." I loved him so hard. Great character. Tian was another of my favorites. Little fella is an absolute doll. Kay on the other hand annoyed me somewhat. Just didn't care for him much at all.

It had all the makings of a really good book. The problem I had with the book was all the internal monologue. For me it was just too much. It distracted me from the story and kept me from fully engaging. Too often I found myself having to re-read things to figure out what the characters were going on about. I would rather have had more action, less monologue.

That being said, it was a still a good book. My love of the characters are what made me settle on a 4 rating. I've read Cherie Noel before, and I think she has great potential. Definitely an author to keep an eye on.

I admit I suck at reviews but I wanted to try with my books to say a little something. This one is especially hard. I loved the book but to say why is difficult. I think the characters themselves, they are all so different but they all fall for each other. Lewell'yn is my favorite of the group. I know most would think it strange but I always like the darker characters as long as there is a core of goodness that shows and it does in Lewell'yn. Tian is cute and .... well cute:) Kayron is the most normal of the bunch. He is a medic and in his own way a bit abrasive. The story is action packed from the start. Looking forward to the next in the series.

It took a few pages to get in to this book. The internal dialogue made it hard to understand where we were, who was who etc.
After that it was a wonderfull story. It has a spaceship, different species, laserguns, mpreg and likeable characteres. The menage worked for me aswell.

Something that didn't work for me were the accents, those were too hard to understand for me. They took me out of the story because I had to read them a few times to more or less understand what was being said.
And maybe the story could have been tighter in places, sometimes it took a while before the story move forward again.

I really think I gave this one a fair shot but it was terrible. In the first part the inner dialogs were endless, repetitive and uninteresting. In the second part there was a lot of completely unnecessary cruelty with no reaming value. I don't mind violence as long as it serves the story but the twist, turns and unintelligible dialects just made this book into a convoluted mess.

Quite cool; some excellent world-building, and an interesting ironic twist toward the end. Maybe more to say in the morning, but it's almost 1 & I'm a bit fuzzy at the moment. :D

Naknti Intelligence Service agent Lewell'yn is on a mission to find the only pure blood Naknti still capable of breeding. Though confused as to why he was chosen for this mission, Lewell'yn felt compelled to at least try to locate the fabled lost colonists. What Lewell'yn found is a medic who smelled of cloves and honey and a chef with the calming scent of peaches.

Tian's Hero is the first book in The Akanti series. This full size novel has a complex plot with many mystifying twists, deceptions, humor, some intimate moments as well as, in-depth characters. The pirate ship is bound for the planet Kyrth, home of the Kyrthians, predators who hunt slaves as a blood sport. Tian is one of the many kidnapped men slated to be the Kyrthian’s prey. Lewell'yn’s secret assignment is to rescue the captives. Kayron is the ship’s medic. The main element of the plot is the deceptions surrounding the heritage of the three men and how each man is the salvation of the other two men.

Lewell'yn has genius level intelligence capable of reprogramming computers, medical skills, muti-tasking, tracking scents from a distance and swiftly assassinating his enemies. Lewell'yn never understood his dark side or why only Tian and Kay had a calming effect on him until he returned to his home planet Naknti.

Kayron’s home planet is Ciarlund; he was a high ranking medical student until he discovered his father’s plan to disown him for being gay. Like Lewell’yn, Kay was not aware of his true heritage.

Tian knew he was Akanti and understood his heritage. Tian was raised by loving parents who tried to teach Tian all the skills needed to be a productive adult; however, the only lessons Tian focused on was cooking.

Tian's Hero is an exciting action-packed, incredibly enjoyable romantic suspense.

I read this thinking it was just another mpreg so I was delighted when I was reading it and started getting into the storyline. The beginning started out a little slow but as I got farther into the book I got more interested. I liked that it was ménage and mpreg, it's one of the only books I've read that has both of those genres and because I didn't read the description it was a pleasant surprise for me. Reading farther into the book the story does become more interesting than the beginning, however what I didn't like was that though through the book Kayron didn't seem to be as much apart of the relationship as Tian and Lewell'yn. Throughout the book it seems Kayron isn't portrayed to be as important to Lewell'yn as Tian is. In the beginning Lewell'yn is avoiding him and later only seems to become more protective after finding out about the baby. The sudden change and mix of emotion of jealousy, dislike, and love Kayron feels toward Tian is also a slightly irritating part of the story. The fact that even while he's jealous of Tian he's able to open admit to being pregnant to him and so easily turn around and accept his position in their relationship despite previous doubts that don't seem to get resolved is a little disappointing. Even towards the end of the story he seems to accept the fact that Lewell'yn can be soothed by Tian but he shows signs of fear. That part of his character seems somewhat like a pushover accepting what's being done to them and doesn't really match with his character of being strong willed.
During the end there were a lot of questions and implications that were left unanswered which hopefully will be in the rest of the series.

It took me little while to get into this book; I wasn't sure I would like the style to start with, with the lack of clarity on timeframes and internal monologues, but once the action starts, it definitely improves. I like the main characters "snarkiness", but that may be just because I'm a Brit!

I felt it could have perhaps been a bit better paced - once the action starts, somewhere around a third into the book, it's almost non stop, but it didn't feel frenetic.

I liked all the characters and was glad that Tian wasn't too girly in attitude or personality, even though his physical characteristics are very much so (I did wonder about the cover as the 3rd picture is very feminine!)

I've read it a couple of times and am looking forward to the next in the series, which hopefully will be the same characters

Lewell'yn was a hard one to understand. The opening of the story was so strange, seeing L in the process of hiding a body. His thoughts and how he interacted with others was often difficult to relate to. But I guess since he wasn't "human" it would be difficult anyway.

Lewell'yn's immediate focus on Tian was surprising and how strongly he felt for Tian. But he always cared for Kayron and though things were strained between them, they both came together to try and save Tian.

I enjoyed the read, though Tian's captivity was difficult to deal with. But together the three of them will be stronger and make their "subjects" lives better. Very interesting ending :)

I do plan on reading more of the Akanti.

I utterly loved this book......wanna know why - it combined two of my favourite things m/m/m and mpreg. I was soo sooo sooooo delighted by these two together that it was an automatic 3 stars.... the author then got another star for complete originality and keeping me captivated.

I loved the characters, setting, romance, sex and plot. The only reason this didnt get 5 stars is because there was whole passages of alien language in the last half of the book.

I read fast - so when this happened it was like WTF and tried to get some of it but then I ended up skipping whole alien gobbleygook paragraphs.

I soooooooooooooooooooo want to read book two and I am devistated to find out that its been nearly 2 years since book one and nothing :(

This book just wasn't for me. I'm not sure if it was because of the characters(Yes), the story(not so much), or just my mood (maybe). Tian (and sometimes Kay) burst into tears seemingly every.other.page. I am not joking. So much crying. Also the "love" just wasn't there. It really just seemed like out of control lust. And the lust wasn't even kept to the three MCs. Everyone they came in contact with was immediately in lust with them and vice versa. Just no. Not for me at all.

Just because I've been asked.
I was really looking forward to read this, but from the start it was kind of stupid. Like, slaves on the pirate ship were kept in too good conditions, guards kill each other so easily, strange motivations on each page, simple dialogs, and etc. I've tried (1/3), but DNF.

I wasn't too sure about this book at first but then it went perfect for me! I loved all the characters and the story had enough twists and turns to keep things interesting. The different character aspects worked well together. Just thoroughly enjoyed it!

Something about the writing style put me off, the story line seemed rushed, and the character relationships just didn't make a lot of sense. I read this right after reading The Bone Rider and it just didn't compare favorably. Good scifi is hard to find! I should have kept to my rule of only reading books with at least four stars.

It was definitely enjoyable, but it also had some plot holes and I was left with a few questions that went unanswered. I suppose some (but not all) could be answered in the next book, but it doesn't look like there will be a next book anytime soon, which is unfortunate.
