An action-packed shonen fantasy from the acclaimed author of Fushigi Yûgi! Reads R to L (Japanese Style) for audiences T.

In a mythical world where humans and gods coexist, a ceremony marking the new governing princess is about to occur for the first time in 60 years. Only a girl from the Hime Clan may take this position, but the lack of females born to this family means that a boy called Arata must pose for the role. Meanwhile in modern-day Japan, a boy named Arata Hinohara is starting his new life in high school. He wants to put memories of his difficult past behind him, but things aren't going to be simple when he discovers a mysterious connection to the first Arata...

While Hinohara visits the Hime clan, he is declared the second coming of a past king and the true ruler of Arata’s world! Despite the many obstacles that fate puts before him, Hinohara forges ahead. But then, he encounters his strongest foe yet—the Shinsho Yataka!

Yuu Watase (渡瀬悠宇) is a Japanese shoujo manga-ka. She is known for her works Fushigi Yūgi, Alice 19th, Ceres: The Celestial Legend, Fushigi Yūgi Genbu Kaiden and Absolute Boyfriend. She likes all music, except heavy metal and old traditional music.

She received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo for Ceres, Celestial Legend in 1997. Since writing her debut short story "Pajama de Ojama" ("An Intrusion in Pajamas"), Watase has created more than 80 compiled volumes of short stories and continuing series. Because of her frequent use of beautiful male characters in her works, she is widely regarded in circles[which?] as a bishōnen manga artist.[citation needed] In October 2008, Watase began her first shōnen serialization, Arata: The Legend in Weekly Shōnen Sunday.
Her name is romanized as "Yû Watase" in earlier printings of Viz Media's publications of Fushigi Yūgi, Alice 19th, and Ceres, The Celestial Legend, while in Viz Media's Fushigi Yūgi Genbu Kaiden and Absolute Boyfriend her name is romanized as "Yuu Watase". In Chuang Yi's English-language versions of Fushigi Yugi (spelled without a macron or circumflex), her name is romanized as "Yu Watase".

Aww man, gay jokes with Hiruha? Come on Yuu Watase. Let's not. :( If we're doing jokes this volume I think the body swap shenanigans are sufficient.

I think Watase's attempts at humorous volumes generally aren't her strongest. The best thing about this series is Arata, actual shoujo heroine. Compassion and kindness, aww yeah. Be good to people some more Arata! When Watase wants to be funny she tends to fanservice-y 'a boy with a chance to peep on girls bathing -eyebrow wiggle-' broad humor. You know what's really funny? Jokes based on specific characterization instead of played out default stereotypes. Just saying. 2.5 stars

This volume is all about comedy. The trip to the next shinsho involves some serious body-switching. In other news, the gang gets a little bigger and we learn more about that little bird-thing that's been tagging along recently. (It's a forest spirit called a Teko and it plays a big part in the story.)

Arata Hinohara has fallen into a melting pot of souls and switched places with a strange furry animal (looks like a Tribble). He has fun with the whole thing because he gets to snuggle up with Kotoha, but his body is taken over by an animal (groping people too). He switches places with a servant of the Sho Yataka and goes into the palace undercover. he needs to retrieve something precious. it turns out that the Sho was once in love with the dying Princess and they took vows. what precious treasure to be retrieved is the necklace that served as their wedding rings.

Ahaha haha so one of the 12 Shinsho had a gentleman fetishes XD

Also IF MIKUSA IS NOT IN SOME WAY RELATED TO THIS PREDICAMENT OF YUTAKA & THE PRINCESS I'LL DIE OF SHOCK.

Meanwhile Kannagi is possibly going to end up my favorite character. He's a delightful a more arrogant version of Nuriko (with Tasuki's hot headedness).

Oh and other stuff happen and souls and whatever I was in it for the Host Club Zokusho Pageant.
