Yoshino's life with Kirishima grows increasingly heated after he meets her adopted brother Shouma. Kirishima doesn't recognize his own jealousy until Yoshino points it out to him...and soon, he's not the only one burning up. It seems Osaka's temperatures have followed Yoshino up north when she catches her traditional summer cold. As her fever flares out of control, it's not the first time Kirishima's obsession could have saved her life--and it probably won't be the last!
I honestly can't tell if Kirishima is actually in love with Yoshino or if he is just obsessed with her because she isn't just falling at his knees like most girls do in his life. Yoshino seems to still be highly annoyed with Kirishima and really wants nothing to do with him which isn't all that surprising, he seems to be a bit much.
I also can't tell if I like the cousin who comes to visit. Tricking Yoshino was not cool but it's better than actually taking her kidney, I guess. The way the cousin and Kirishima act when they are together is really weird too.
The thing I liked the most about this volume was that when Yoshino got sick Kirishima took care of her no matter how badly she didn't want him to, showed that he does care in his own way.
“I’ll do anything, up to and including plastic surgery to change her entire appearance… to keep you [Kirishima] from laying your blood-shot eyes on Yoshino-chan again for the rest of your pathetic life.”
“I don’t fancy you one bit [Kirishima], so I’ve got no reason to kill you.”
This volume continues to deliver on the chaos, confusion, and completely unhinged character dynamics I’ve come to expect from this series. We’re deep in yakuza territory now, and normal standards? Gone. The bar? Buried somewhere in the underworld.
Let’s start with Tsubaki, Yoshino’s cousin: she's insane, she’s unpredictable, and she’s a total girl’s girl. The way she rolled in, clocked Kirishima immediately, and read him for absolute filth? I clapped. I cheered. She might be a little off her rocker, but the protectiveness she shows toward Yoshino? We need more of that energy. Iconic.
Now Kirishima… He really said: “You could sleep with someone else… as long as I get to watch and then kill them.” Like—HELLO? Sir? Therapy? But also, in this upside-down yakuza romance world, I guess that counts as open communication. The way this manga made me accept that as a “green-ish flag” is wild. But Yoshino kind of ate when she said she’d rather have him be fully demented than half-pretending to be a nice guy. Like okay?? Slay in your own deranged way then???
But listen. That ending. Finding out that Kirishima’s ex was a first-year uni student three years ago?? That math isn’t mathing in a good way. That means she was 18–19 and he was like… 14–15. And now they’re trying to use that to give Kirishima tragic backstory points or romantic trauma flair??? No. I’m not seeing rizz—I’m seeing red flags and a minor who got groomed, actually. That part made me feel icky, and not in the fun, messed-up way this manga normally trades in. Just… disappointed, not shocked.
So yeah. Volume 3 is somehow both too much and not enough. Messy, dramatic, and filled with people saying genuinely insane things to each other while I sit here nodding like, “well… at least they’re being honest?” Welcome to yakuza romance, I guess. 🖤
kirishima taking care of yoshino when she had her summer cold and she was like "ugh i can see why girls like him" no u can't. please close ur eyes. this isn't you
ALSO, the side story futari wa Teihen was the end of me. shouma's Backstory? solid 10/10
by the way, into it and right here, from chase Atlantic, belong to shouma. honestly, their whole discography fits him
I tried to read the rest of the series but I'm bored...
I started reading this a couple of years ago and patiently waited for the updates. I remember enjoying it but it has lost its appeal. I feel like there's not enough progress in the plot and character relationships.
So even I can’t tell whether Kirishima is the real deal or if he is just playing with Yoshino’s feelings. But I am rooting for him despite being a totally crazy guy. I guess he has some good in him. Well I hope so.
en fait là le problème c'est que j'arrive pas à savoir si j'aime bien le gars ou si je le déteste parce que j'aime trop comment il est obsessed avec la meuf mais après il se comporte pas bien avec elle donc je sais pas
Yoshino doesn’t need no man she can handle everything on her own, and I wouldn’t mind if she neither ended up with ML Kirishima nor 2nd ML Shouma.
Ah yes there is a love triangle which I normally dislike but didn’t mind here. I guess it’s because I want an alternative if the ML doesn’t suit my taste/if I don’t ship him with FL?
Yakuza Fiancé follows Yoshino who is engaged to a rival yakuza gang's future boss, Kirishima. When she arrives in Tokyo to meet her new fiancé, she finds he might be more than she bargained for. Oh how I adore this manga so much! I really love this story and find it so fascinating to read. I really enjoyed reading this volume and seeing where the story is going. What I really loved was seeing these two characters grow closer throughout the course of this manga. Yoshino is still very wary of him and clearly doesn't want to start trusting him. He's such an interesting character because he has an obsession with her while also being this ruthless Yakuza. It was interesting to see how he took care of her in this manga nad to see a softer side to him. The ending of this made me want and need answers. The way this left off let us know that there's so much more to the story than what we initially thought. I am interested to see how the characters are going to all come together and I am so excited for them to travel in the next volume. If the premise of this manga interest you, please pick it up because I think it is well worth the read.
Kirishima pisses me off soooo bad, but toxic is so ingrained in my psyche that I’m EATING it up🥸 Also! Hotei gives SERIOUS DILF vibes in those bonus scenes at the end🙂↕️🤭
