Romanced by the Mountain Man

Rate this book
Can this dirty mountain man convince the romance writer he wants to be the hero in her own personal love story?

Blade

I’m the man that reads her dirtiest fantasies out loud. Yeah, I’m a book narrator. I spend my nights reading my favorite author’s filthy words for her fan base to listen in on. Every naughty scene only makes me crave her more. But she can’t know who I really am.

Then Gwen, the curvy goddess, shows up on my mountain, looking for my alter ego. I figure I’ll take her around town and help her search. After she finally admits she can’t find him, I’ll send her back. Easy and simple.

Except that when she leaves, I have to chase after her. Because it turns out I can’t let Gwen go, and now I’ll prove to her that we can write a happily ever after of our own together.

Gwen

Every time I hear my book narrator’s voice, I melt. I’ve been trying to draw him out for months now, and he won’t tell me who he is. So, I do something a little bit crazy. I take a trip to his mountain. If I can just see him in person, then he’ll realize we’re soulmates.

Except I end up stranded with a dirty mountain man who’s making me crave his fiery touch and his filthy mouth. Have I finally found the romance hero of my dreams, or will Blade break my heart?

If you love a dirty talking alpha male who seduces his curvy goddess, it’s time to meet Blade in Romanced by the Mountain Man.

Romance writer Gwen (h) breaks down near the mountain town where she believes her book narrator, Landon, resides. She’s come to find the man that she believes to be her soulmate based on their online communications and hopes that someone can help her find him. Blade (h) comes upon Gwen and offers to help her find Landon when in reality he’s actually Landon. He’s just as enamored of Gwen but worries that he’s not worthy of her and that she’d never want him if she knew his identity. Things heat up quickly between the two in this age gap, mountain quickie with plenty of heat and relationship angst. Love Alvin, Simon, and Theodore!

This is a fun, steamy romance with just of bit of angst to make the story more interesting. Former military mountain man, Blade, has fallen for the author of the romance books he is now narrating. Her books helped him while he was recovering in hospital after losing his arm, and he has taken to following her career on social media and on TV. Narrating her books was a connection to her that he couldn’t pass up. When Gwen reaches out to suggest they meet, he freezes and doesn’t answer. Blade doesn’t harbour any illusions of her falling in love with him. His horrible childhood has showed him he is unloveable and meant to be alone. Blade is stunned when the curvy and gorgeous author shows up in his town looking for him. Since he is not known by his legal name within the community, he doesn’t let on that he is the narrator, the man she is seeking to meet. He has no idea this lie could cost him the women he soon doesn’t want to live without.

Yo have to admire a woman who goes after what she wants. Gwen writes about love, but has never experienced it herself, even at home with her parents. She has always felt less then and not good enough for her academic parents. Now, she thinks her narrator could be her soulmate and she is willing to fight for a chance at love with him. Yet, being with big, tattooed and grumpy Blade sends sparks right down to her toes. Staying with at his cabin is a bit scary, but also thrilling. She feels alive and deeply connected to him, especially when he reveals his own troubled, loveless past. Could Blade be the man meant for her? What will happen when she learns of his deception? Will they have a chance at a happily ever after or will there only be heartbreak?.

Plot Summary:
In "Romanced by the Mountain Man," former military man Blade, now a romance book narrator, finds himself drawn to Gwen, the author of the books he narrates. Despite his troubled past and belief that he's unlovable, Gwen pursues him, believing him to be her soulmate. As they navigate their feelings and past traumas, they discover a deep connection that neither expected.

Content Warning:
This book deals with themes of trauma, self-worth issues, and parental neglect.

What I Like:
The dynamic between Blade and Gwen is captivating, filled with tension and longing. Their journey towards love is both heartwarming and poignant, with well-developed characters that feel real and relatable. Mia Brody's writing immerses readers in the characters' emotions, making it difficult to put the book down.

What I Dislike:
While the premise is intriguing, the idea of Blade never being recognized as the narrator feels a bit stretched. Additionally, Gwen's occasional juvenile actions can be off-putting, although they're outweighed by the overall enjoyment of the story.

Overall, "Romanced by the Mountain Man" is a delightful addition to the Courage County Curves series. Mia Brody skillfully weaves together romance, emotional depth, and a touch of intrigue, creating a compelling story that keeps readers engaged until the very end. Despite some minor flaws, this book delivers on its promise of a fun and steamy romance, making it a must-read for fans of the genre.

I’ve been waiting for this book for a while, and I knew it was going to a great one, because it is about Blade. He was in the Navy and an accident took the lower half of his arm. He can shoot an arrow is good with bladed weapons. He is teaching Duke’s younger brother Jacob how to use a bow and arrow and the kid asks a bajillion questions which is both adorable and annoying, lol. Blade is a narrator of romance novels and his voice is great for it. He started doing this because he had a crush on one of the authors. Sooooo cute.

Gwen Hughes is his fave writer, he found her while convalescing and when he was given a care package with a used e-reader and found her books. Since she was signing nearby, he was tempted to go and talked himself out of it. However, she came looking for him with her cat, Alvin. Another cat named Simon was getting all his shots and etc., before she would pick him up. Gwen is buddies with Zoey Hart and she fully believes that Landon Shaw (Blade’s real name) is her soulmate. Reading this book made me realize I need to have my thyroid checked again. Better safe than sorry.

When I heard how Gwen’s parents treated her I was angry. So much goes on in this book in such a short time. It is quite amazing actually. I can’t wait for Rafe’s book.

I love how Mia’s writing can just have me immersed in her characters. Blade just tugged at my heartstrings between his childhood and subsequent poor decisions in his late teen/early adult years. But what really broke me was that even after he got a second chance all those years ago and used it to turn his life around, he still feels unworthy of any happiness, still has a load of lingering guilt and a total lack of belief that he could be and deserves to be loved. A few times I wanted to reach into the book and smack some sense into him. Sunshiney, upbeat Gwen puts up a good front, but she’s struggling in a similar way. She doesn’t understand why her parents can’t accept and love her as she is. Which is why it was so important to her to track down the one man she believed really got her. These two really were perfect for each. They each needed the other to show them what they truly deserved in life and in love. This one had it all: emotional pull, a little bit of intrigue, desire to strangle one of the mcs and some angst. Sweet with plenty of heat and loved the primal play 😉. My one complaint is the whole premise of never recognizing his voice, EVER!.

An amazing read when a disabled veteran, Landon Shaw (Blade) feels he's not good enough for the famous author,Gwen Hughes. He got hooked on her books during his recovery. Later as a recluse mountain mountain going by the name of Blade, he learned she was looking for a narrator. He managed to convince her with no experience that he was her man for the job. After a few books, she asked to meet him in person at a book signing in person, but he was afraid as he knew she was it for him what if she did not feel the same way so he ignored her text. The day of the signing, he was about town on his way home when he came up on a stranded motorist. He recognized her immediately stopping to help, but he was to ashamed to admit his real name. She had came to the mountain to meet her soulmate and was not afraid to admit it. She may have been able to show the world, she was a strong put together woman, independent, successful, but inside she was a very alone broken beyond belief looking for love and acceptance. Would they be able to get past Blade's deception, and if so what lengths would he go to prove his love to Gwen.

She’s a romance author and he’s narrated her stories. They haven’t met, yet both feel strong connections to one another.
She only has his voice to work with and a vague idea where he lives. He‘s followed her online presence, seen pictures and read everything he can to feel connected. His lack of confidence comes from a poor childhood and having to adapt from being injured while serving in the Navy. He doubts that she would find him worthy or reciprocate his feelings. When she drives to find him to meet, he gives her his nickname Blade instead. She’s wants so badly to see if there could be someone for her that she risks putting herself out there to meet him. While he offers to ‘help’ her find this guy, she begins to become confused over what she thought she felt for her narrator if she could also feel attraction growing for Blade.
As they began to grow closer, he has to find a way to tell her the truth and not lose her.

Blade and Gwen

A one armed archer who narrates naughty shifter romance books falls for the lovely author of said books. She’s determined her narrator’s her soulmate and goes to Courage County to find him. So good! Loved this!
I Googled “one armed archer” and watched the guy (a veteran, maybe a marine?) shoot his bow using a special tab on his bowstring that he pulls with his teeth just like blade does in the book. At the exact moment before the real life one armed archer lets go of his tab with his teeth and shoots his arrow, his facial expression becomes so still, his eyes suddenly focus wide open, he just let’s go without moving a muscle. Bulls eye! It’s so cool IRL, in real life. Amazing!
Mia Brody does her research to get her characters exactly right, and, as a retired nurse I can vouch for the care she puts into each of her main characters and their friends, whatever medical conditions they may have, it’s authentic and almost too real. That’s what makes her books so good when her characters overcome debilitating conditions to get their HEAs.

Blade and Gwen

I liked their story. But… Didn’t like that he rejected her from the beginning thinking he wanted something casual and was gonna send her away after. Even though he fell harder than he already was and couldn’t let her go. He eventually let her go. Disappointed. He didn’t fight for her at the moment.

It was also stupid she didn’t recognize his voice. Hello!! She works with him as a voice narrator!!!
Come on!

Yes, what he did to win her back was beautiful and special but… what made me mad was how easily she accepted him and his proposal without him apologizing for lying to her and taking advantage of her in the time they were together. If she had love issues because of her parents she shouldn’t have trusted that easily and without an apology.

Besides that, I liked the story and the friends involved, and the funny moments, and how he makes her book ideas come alive.
It’s also SAFE.
BOTH VIRGINS. He even says he’s happy he waited for her so no one else knows his body just her. Swoon.
Possesive, protective Alpha.

I've read and liked a lot of Mia Brody's books, including the previous ones in this series and I really wanted to like this one too. The premise is great: a reclusive mountain man slash romance book narrator with a complicated past falls for a young naivish but endearingly romantic romance writer looking for her own happy ending. And yeah, the plot was good, the characters could have been interesting in their own way but something was so off I couldn't empathise with them at all. They were a bit like paper dolls or bad caricatures of well-used tropes rather than people. No one expects these stories to be particularly realistic but I kept picturing the author snickering while writing: "You think that is over the top? You aint seen nothing yet!" I'll be reading the next books in the series though, because the author does invent entertaining plots.

'I hope she’s not thinking about me and wishing I were by her side the way I’m wishing that.'

I loved this book. It was such a fun read. I liked Blade from the start. He was such a well developed character and I liked his personality. He's been through things, missing an arm from his military time, and scarred. As the narrator of Gwen's books, he knows everything about her and longs for her, but feels he doesn't deserve her. Gwen feels he is her soulmate, and if she can't get him to come to her, she goes on a journey to find him with only a name and the sound of his voice. When he finds her after her car broke down on the side of the road, he helps her, but keeps his identity a secret. Gwen was sweet with a sunshine personality. As they spend time together and she begins to fall for the gruff mountain man, will he reveal himself as the man she is searching for? And how will she feel that he kept it from her? 5 stars

Finding her soul-mate

Romanced by the Mountain Man is the fourth book and a great addition to the Courage County Curves series. The story is about Gwen Hughes and Landon "Blade" Shaw. She is a romance writer and he is the deep and sexy voice who narrates the male parts of her books. When she is in the area of Courage Country Gwen decides to find the man who she knows is her soul-mate. What she finds is a big, grumpy, gruff, and sexy mountain man who she is attracted to but is not who she is looking for. Blade tries to help her find Landon and keeps digging himself in deeper as the days pass, and he tries to fight his attraction and pull to the curvy and sweet woman.
I loved this story and the way that they both fight their attraction, for different reasons. The book is well written, has great characters with some pop-ins of previous characters, and a well developed story-line. It flowed well and was a very entertaining and delightful read.

Blade narrates romance books, one of his author's is Gwen, who he is attracted. She invites his to meet up at a book signing near where he lives, but he doesn't think she would want anything to do with him so he ignores her invite.
Gwen thinks Landon (Blade) is her soulmate so decides to travel to his town to find him after her book signing. She meets Blade after her car breaks down, but even though he recognises her, she doesn't know who he is as they have never met and she doesn't know him by his nickname.
She ends up staying in town to find Landon, but spending more time with Blade leads her to fall for him. But what happens when she realises that Blade is Landon and he has been lying to her. Will she forgive him or will he loose her for good.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

What happens when you are a romance writer and you think the guy who does your narrating is your soulmate? Well you go to Courage County where you know he lives and you go find him. Too bad the fancy sports car you bought leaves you stranded on the side of a mountain. When a huge mountain man comes to her rescue, she manages to convince him to help her find her soulmate. Little does she know that Blade IS her soulmate.

Gwen and Blade were so cute together. She is the epitome of sunshine and he is 1 grunt away from caveman. However, Blade is a just a big teddy bear when it comes to Gwen. I loved that he was so into her books that he played out some scenes with her, especially the primal play ones.

Super cute quick read and another great Courage County book!!!

Blade has a few secrets. When he meets his favorite author, Gwen, he weaves a web of lies as well. Gwen heads to the mountains in search of her soulmate, the male narrator for her audiobooks. She have never met him but is convinced that they are soulmates. Blade fell in love with Gwen through her books. He is her narrator but hides that information from her. Hello Trouble - good to meet you!
I love this author’s books! This book transported me to the mountains I. The first couple of pages. I love when I can fall into a book like that. These characters are real to me and the more I read, the more real they become to me!.

I have loved this series and was so excited to read Blade's story; I loved the unique storyline of him being a book narrator. But the miscommunication trope and Gwen just being so immature was a letdown. She asks a random hot man to look for her soulmate, who is the random hot man she asked? We are supposed to believe that she is an author, but I couldn't picture her out of her teens; with her actions and dialogue, she was juvenile and embarrassing. Blade's backstory and the spicy scenes are the reason I gave 3.5. Otherwise, it would have been a 2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - excellent, would recommend, will reread
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - great
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - good
⭐️⭐️ - ok, forgettable, had issues with plot and/or characters
⭐️ - dnf, would not recommend, terrible

Every time I get my hands on one of Mia Brody's Courage County books, I devour it. Romanced by the Mountain Man was no exception. Blade doesn't feel he is wanted or worthy of love, or a life of happiness. Gwen knows she has found her soul mate and won't stop until she gets her man. I really liked seeing how Blade changed in this story from feeling like he isn't deserving, to knowing he can be the man Gwen needs and wanting to find happiness for himself. This book gives you a nice, short story, plenty of steam, and a happily ever after. Can't wait for Rafe's story!.

Blade, a mountain man, whose spirit is broken by self doubt, falls in love with the author who he narrates books with, but is afraid she will reject him as he has been all his life.

Gwen, romance author who believes she is in love with her soulmate, the voice of the narrator of her books who she’s never met, instead she slowly falls in love with a dirty-talking mountain man, who saved her on the side of the road. After growing up being ridiculed and criticized by her mother, and ignored by her father, she just wants to be loved unconditionally.

Can these two overcome their insecurities before it’s too late?

Romanced by the Mountain Man is a super steamy mountain man romance. Gwen is a young curvy romance writer. Blade does voice work for audio books and loves reading Gwen's. Both have never met each other but have feelings for the other. She ends up traveling to try and find him as he let it slip once where he lived. Problem is that Blade is not his legal name. When Gwen is rescued by Blade on the side of the road, she mentions wanting to find him. What will happen when the truth is revealed? I loved the chemistry between Blade and Gwen. Its a super spicy romance with a great HEA. Highly recommend.

I loved Romanced by the Mountain Man Book 4 of Courage County Curves. Gwen is searching for her soulmate and she knows he’s in Courage County. Gwen is the woman of Blades dreams but he’s damaged. When Gwen comes looking for Landon, Blade vows to help her while hiding very important information from her. When secrets come out with the budding relationship between Blade and Gwen will go up in flames. This was such a sweet storyline and I loved the characters. I loved how the relationship between Gwen and Blade evolved. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

I really liked Blade and Gwen's story.

Blade is not you normal mountain man. After getting out of the military, during his recovery he found that he enjoyed reading romance novels and Gwen became his obsession, so much he reached out to her when she was looking for book narrator.

Gwen never met Landon Shaw, but after working with him narrating his books, she felt the connection and knows he is her soul mate, now she just has to go to Courage Country.

Great fun story with hot steamy moment, a strong loving alpha and parents the realize their mistake.

Blade has a job that most do not know about, he is a book narrator for romance novels. He got started after he saw the picture of one writer and convinced her to hire him. When she emails him that she will in the area, she wants to meet up, he does not respond. He finds her with her broken down car on the side of the road, he does not tell who he is.

Gwen believes her narrator is her soul mate but nothing seems to draw him out. She ends up stranded on the side of the road, then next she is staying with a grumpy mountain man.

What will she do when she finds out who he really is?.

I enjoyed this story. It was a quick sexy read. The two main characters, Blade and Gwen, have a working relationship but Gwen believes they are soul mates. She sets out to find Landon aka Blade in order to convince him they are soul mates. Blade happens upon Gwen when she has car trouble on the road near where he lives. He doesn't think he is worthy of her so he uses his nickname "Blade" when he meets her. The two hit it off as they look for Landon.
I don't want to give too much away but there is a HEA. If you like soul mates, mountain men and curvy girls then I highly recommend this book.

I'm not a fan of lying but I can understand with a history like Blade has had to suffer and the resulting low self-esteem that would occur from both his history and his injury. I'm pretty sure I read the whole book in his voice as if he were narrating it too which was a fun new thing! This is a sweet love story that reminds how love can bust through even the toughest histories to find a happily ever after. Fantastic book Mia!.

I usually LOVE Mia Brody books, but I only just liked this one. Landon/Blade took a long time to come clean with Gwen and then seemed surprised she was so hurt by his deception. I found myself wishing he would hurry up and admit his lie already; I felt it could have been done sooner and ended up annoyed and not as invested in the story. That's not to say that I wish I hadn't read it; I'm glad I did. I do wish it had been shorter though.

Blade had been hiding up in the mountains since he list his arm, he adores Gwen the romance author he narrates for but he doesn't think he is goid enough for her. Gwen has decided her narrator is her soul mate and nothing will stop her from finding him so she is confused when she has feeling for the confusing Blade. This is a great love story with a sunny, optimistic heroine and a growly, grumpy alpha who can't let her go.

One of my favorite in this series. I loved the premise, Gwen is an author that has fallen for her narrator and is determined to meet him. Convinced he is her soulmate, she heads to Courage County and runs into her man but doesn’t know it. Blade is well aware of who she is and doesn’t think they have a chance so he hides who he is. Gwen’s right though and true soulmates can’t be denied. We get a little bit of heartache before the end but all works out to a HEA.

Blade had been in love with Gwen for a long time! He became an audiobook narrator to get closer to her without her ever meeting him. Gwen had feelings for the narrator of her romance novels and was determined to find him and meet him in person. Blade thought he wasn’t good enough for Gwen but Gwen was determined to find her soulmate. Sweet, steamy romance with amazing chemistry, love, fun, laughter, a little misunderstanding to overcome, insecurities to move past and a wonderful HEA.

Gwen is a romance writer with a big crush on the man who does narration with her on her books. She decides one day to go find this secret man. But she gets totally thrown off by meeting Blade. Blade is keeping a huge secret from Gwen. One that could destroy any chance he has with her. When his secret comes out he has to go way out of his comfort zone in order to get and keep his forever.
