After years of trying, Xandra's aunt has finally figured out astral projection. Unfortunately, she astral projects her and Zac's souls out of their realm and into the Shadow realm. Or, as some like to call it - Hell. Xandra has no choice but to go in after them; otherwise, their souls will be trapped there forever. But first, she has to convince the Angel of Death to let her in, and they don't exactly hit it off when they first meet.
2. My children. (Please don’t tell my kids I listed fans before them. You may cause a riot in my home. They’re pretty feisty kids.)
3. My cats and dogs when they’re not making me sniffle, sneeze, rub my eyes or irritating my asthma. (Scratch that, they always do and I love them anyway.)
4. Writing. (I would have listed this first, but it would have looked bad. Worse than putting fans before my kids.)
5. Good friends. (Fortunately, I have several.)
6. Quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace reading a good book. (Please, like that’s going to happen with five kids in the house - but I can dream can’t I?)
7. I got stuck here so I asked a couple of friends to tell me their fondest memory of me. This is what I got:
Deb: It was when you used to babysit Michael and rode the horse in Meijer so he could ride with you. Also......my first trip to TX for a wedding. You were at my house and said you would put my clothes in the dryer when they were done. Needless to say, the next morning I had to pack wet clothes in my suitcase. The airline lost my luggage for 4 days so when I finally got it back, my clothes were all mildewed. (Okay, in my defense – I was twelve at the time. The sad thing is, I still forget to put clothes in the dryer.)
Michele: I have too many…but one of the first that popped in my head was how you drove all the way to Chicago to look at my apartment for me because I was too hung over, and then gave me all the details so I could pretend I was there. You are a good friend... (It was only a seven hour round trip. What are friends for?)
Joe: A particular Domino’s pizza delivery and you invited the delivery guy inside…(I’m going to stop there because my ex-husband thinks he’s funny.)
For obvious reasons, I didn’t ask anyone else.
Hates:
1. Puppies, kittens, babies, sunshine, peace on earth, goodwill, recycling, education, gifts, and sweets of any kind. (Really, I do.)
2. Being facetious. (I would never dream of it!)
3. People who don’t read my books. (Well, maybe not all of them. But, most of them.)
4. People who always manage to stop by the house when I look terrible. (You know who you are…)
5. Lumberjacks. (Don’t know why, just do.)
Now that you know everything about me, you should drop by my Facebook page to tell me all about you.
We begin this installment of the amazing Witch Fairy series with a new conundrum: how do you retrieve two spirits from the Shadow Realm without getting yourself (and your intended) vaporized in the process? That's right, Aunt Barb and Zac have managed to astral project themselves right into another realm--a realm to which none but the Angel of Death (or the recently deceased) should have access. It's a realm that's not so great with visitors, and it's exactly where Xandra has resolved to go. After all, she can't just wait around and let the evil shadows find (and possess) her only remaining relatives who retain their corporeal form, can she? No.
Of course, in true Xandra style, enemies are made almost from the word "go," but Xandra's winning personality seems all-powerful in its ability to convert enemies to friends--or, at least, frienemies--as is the case with both the aforementioned Angel of Death and a pesky hitchhiker that joins the group along the way. Turns out, pulling the errant spirits back from the Shadow Realm was not the tallest order of the day and that sometimesthe people you love the most are the most dangerous of all!
I sincerely hope that this series continues! I have enjoyed every episode and will simply be beside myself if the story doesn't continue-- at least up through a certain couple's nuptials!
I really enjoyed the book. I am glad Nexie was still involved. I wish she had a bigger part...maybe in the next book.
I am hoping for a better relationship between Xandra and the king.
What she did to the head of security who thought she was so much better than her was hilarious...You would think she would have learned her lesson the first time Xandra threw her through a wall...but it seemed to have taken several lessons, lol.
I did not like the demi God's at all. And the jury is still out on the giants. Love the angels though. Especially Adriel.
I am a little sick of mom and dad, well maybe just mom. I wish she would just move on.
I didn't quite like this novel as much as the rest of them. I found this one to be short and short sighted for the long term but it did in fact work with the series and was likable. Dagda is starting to grow on me. However the whole relationship between Kellan and Xandra seems a bit timid to me. I kind of want more..
I have really enjoyed the series but this book wasn't one of my favorites. I would have liked to get more details on Xandra and her powers along with some details on why she could travel to the Shadowland when she isn't an Angel of Death
Such a great book! I have really enjoyed this series and I hope to continue! I read this book in one day, just because it was so awesome that I couldn't put it down. I have become a huge fan of this series. The author can really write some amazing books!!!
Her story, told in first person from her point of view. Frankly, I was bewitched. She and her boy friend are left hand fasted. If they have sex, then presto they are married. By magic. A bit young for that, she is still not an adult.
This review is for books till Book #8. Recommendation? Stop reading at Book#7.5
I've a different review posted for Book#8. But from 1-7, this series is just awesome.
Xandra is coming of age and learns a whole new world and about herself. She deals with many challenges and comes off as any teenager - a bit confused, a bit arrogant, chastened by elders and at times rebellious.
Kallen is the character that shines in this series. He is powerful but his power is easily overshadowed by the more powerful Xandra. Yet he never lets that affect his ego or his relationship with Xandra. He manages to come off as the more mature, in-charge person. The intimate scenes between the duo are at the same time passionate and tender.
There is a lot of "wow-gorgeous" falling-for-looks-mainly thing happening but the way the characters are depicted takes away the sting of it.
Overall - the series till Book 7.5, has a natural easy flow of stories without awkward pauses or WTF moments. Totally recommend!
The story is getting better and better! The books are too short for my taste, but for some reason, I haven't been able to stop them yet ¬¬ oh the shame of enjoying a teen book! lol :D It's fun, the characters are getting more depth with each passing book, and there's lots more adventure. I'm gonna keep reading.. :)
This book was good, I wasn't into as much as the previous book though... I guess I felt like it was more side a side book than a full book in the series, the story didn't really grab me.
