Courage County Curves #5

Engaged to the Mountain Man

Rate this book
Can this innocent princess convince the wild mountain man to claim her curves and his rightful throne?

Rafe

Imagine the sexiest voice you’ve ever heard is on the other end of the phone. She’s calling to tell you that you’re a prince of some little country in Europe. She’s clearly lying, but that voice is the stuff fantasies are made of.

So, I played along with her little scam. Sure, princess, you can visit me. I’ll be waiting to pick you up at the airport. Five o’clock sharp. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Now imagine my surprise when the princess does show up at my mountain cabin. She’s madder than a wet cat. What’s more, she’s insisting that I’m her prince and we’re engaged. The joke’s on this scammer picked the wrong mountain man to play with. Because I sure as hell ain’t no prince.

Aurora

Rafael is insufferable! He’s supposed to be a prince, my foot. The man looks like he’s never had so much as a haircut. He can’t possibly be my intended husband. If it weren’t for my cousin’s schemes, I wouldn’t be here convincing this wild mountain man to take his rightful place by my side.

But even after all the time we spend together and the delicious kisses he gives me, I’ll still have to choose between my duty and my heart. And I’m not sure which one will win.

If you love a growly alpha with a heart of gold who falls for a curvy princess, it’s time to meet Rafe in Engaged to the Mountain Man.

Courage County mountain men love curves! These flannel-wearing, wood-cutting lumberjack men are gruff and grumpy. But underneath it all, they have hearts of gold just waiting to be uncovered by the curvy women they claim. Cuddle up with these sexy new book boyfriends from Mia Brody today!

Reading some of the other books in this series isn’t necessary but if you did, you get small snippets of Rafe’s background and grumpy, aloof character (much like his pet rescue turtle). So I was really looking forward to his story and where it would go. I loved the different direction Mia went with this book!

After growing up in the foster care system while also having a disability, he’s been alone most of his life. Never knowing where he came from, never being truly accepted or wanted except for the guys on the mountain.
When he starts getting voicemails from a woman named Aurora who claims to be princess of a foreign country he’s never heard of, telling him she needs to speak to him urgently, she just has to be a scammer. But there’s something about that voice that draws him in, driving him to listen to and replay them while having some very interesting thoughts 😉. So when he decides to answer one of her calls he plays along, especially when she says she’s flying in to meet with him and will require transportation from the airport. Imagine his surprise when she shows up in the middle of the night, claiming he’s her long lost betrothed prince and they need to marry to secure the kingdom before her ill father dies. 😂😂
He lets the crazy woman stay while his friend and fellow mountain man, Roman, checks into her story. He’s even more surprised to learn she’s really who she says she is, but there’s no way he’s who she thinks he is. No way he’s royalty but he has Roman dig into his past anyway, spending more time with Aurora while he waits. Things get complicated when they fall for each other. Rafe believes there’s no way it can work, especially once she realizes he’s no prince and could never be worthy of a princess. He’s just a discarded kid who no one wanted permanently. She’ll leave just like everyone else.
But when it’s revealed he really is royalty, the truth about his heritage and how he ended up alone comes out. He’s angry and hurt. He doesn’t want any part of his family or royalty which also means Aurora.
When her father’s condition worsens, a heartbroken Aurora has to return home to discover he has already passed away. Even though she only wants Rafe, she will have to marry someone else to be able to rule and keep her awful cousin from taking her place. Will Rafe let the love of his life and chance at a family slip away?.

Aurora and Rafe’s story is very spicy with a dash of sweetness. Mountain man Rafe never expects that the woman who has been leaving him messages lately really is a princess. When Aurora shows up on his doorstep, Rafe is shocked and soon battling to control his lust. She is spitting mad, though somehow still regal and rather innocent. When she tells him he is some lost prince and betrothed to her, he thinks she is either crazy or very mistaken. He grew up in foster care and was often shunned or ridiculed due to his cerebral palsy……no one’s vision of a prince. While Aurora staying with him and a good friend investigating her story, Rafe is trying to hang onto his control. Could he really claim this beautiful princess for himself?

Aurora has never been free to live her life as she wants. As her father’s heir to the throne, her life is controlled, regimented and devoted in service to her country and its people. With her father very ill, she must marry or lose the crown to her smarmy and rather malicious cousin. Her betrothed prince has been found, though he refuses to respond to her messages. A quick trip to America seems to be in order. She discovers a handsome, broody mountain man is her prince. Rafe sets her body afire and his dirty talk makes her want to pull him close. His disability makes no difference to her at all. She is ready to be claimed by her prince. But will he accept her and his new role in life?

Part reverse fairytale, part raunchy romance, this book is a quick, delightful read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Princess Aurora of Velkan needs to find Prince Rafael- her betrothed. Her father, the King, is very ill and she needs to find her Prince, who doesn’t believe all of the voicemails he has received from her. So she tracks him down on the mountain in Courage County and Roman proves to him that she is really a Princess and Rafe falls for her as she does him. Rafe doesn’t remember anything before he was five years old and has grown up in the foster care system. He has cerebral palsy and grows his own food.

Things come to a head and Rafe freaks out that his whole life is not what he thought and Aurora needs to go back home immediately. The mountain men of Courage County work together to help Rafe follow her to Velkan. The book was like reading a modern day adult fairy tale. I loved it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. They are all so much fun! There are still a bunch of mountain men left who needs to find wives, so, yay more books! I can’t wait to find out more about Gabby and Roman. It should be a doozy.

Rafe lives in Courage County, he grew up in foster care so never knew his parents. He's been receiving voicemails from someone called Aurora, claiming to be a princess and that he was promised to marry her as a baby.
Aurora needs to marry to be able to claim her father's throne and become Queen. With her father ill, she goes out to find Rafe and bring him home before her greedy cousin can take over and destroy their country.
When she turns up on Rafe's doorstep soaking from the rain, he takes her in and allows her to stay the night but is determined to get rid of her as he doesn't believe in her stories.
He gets his friend to look into her and his past, she turns out to be telling the truth about where she came from but is he really a prince and if so, why was he abandoned by his family.
The more time they spend together, their attraction to each other grows. Even in Rafe isn't her prince, Aurora is determined to be with him. But will Rafe give up his life to be with her in another country.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

Kissing the reluctant Prince

Engaged to the Mountain Man is the fifth book in the Courage County Curves series. This is a Princess gets her Prince romance, only he doesn't know he is a Prince and instead thinks she is trying to scam him. Aurora is a real life Princess in the small country of Velkan. Her mother died when she was thirteen years old and her father is distant and disapproving. But she does have her charity work and the one person she knows loves her, Violet, her mothers assistant who is like a grandmother to Aurora. When it comes time for Aurora to marry to save her country from a cousin who is planning to usurp the throne, she must track down the man she was betrothed to, Rafael. The problem is that Rafael may be a Prince from a neighboring country but it seems he does not want to talk with her. Aurora is not to be deterred as her country and citizens rely on her so she has to travel to Courage County in search of her Prince. Let's just say that things are not about to go quite as smoothly as she expected and Rafe's life is about to be upended in more ways than he could ever imagine.

Mountain man Rafe (H) keeps getting phone messages from a woman claiming to be a princess and insisting they need to talk. Princess Aurora (h) wants to be free from life as a royal but knows that she must ascend the throne one day to protect her people and to become ruler she needs to marry the prince she was betrothed to at birth. Aurora travels to Rafe’s cabin in Courage County, surprising him when she shows up on his doorstep mid-thunderstorm. At first, he believes Aurora is a con artist but as they spend time together their relationship deepens, and things heat up between the two. Rafe has no memories of his childhood, only what he remembers from the foster care system and is just as convinced that he’s not a prince and Aurora is just as certain that he is. Sweet mountain man romance with a plenty of heat and some emotional angst.

I really liked the story 'Engaged to the Mountain Man' by Mia Brody. It was about a princess going in search for her prince only to find that he is unaware of his status. The princess of Velcan must find her betrothed and marry him in order to attain the throne as queen. She meets many obstacles. The first obstacle is that the prince has no idea of his true lineage and believes he was just an orphan who grew up in many foster homes. He feels an instant attraction to this beautiful woman who shows up on his doorstep claiming to be a princess but the whole concept is fantastic and unbelievable to him. But their attraction to each other is undeniable.

I’m loving all these Courage County Curves books and Aurora & Rafe’s story is no exception. It felt like a retelling of a fairy tail with a mountain man twist on it. I love that Mia is so inclusive with her writing. She doesn’t shy away from someone with a disability and she writes these characters with dignity.

Aurora was strong, independent and while she craved her fathers approval she also wasn’t going to change who she was at the core to please him. Rafe is a little bit of a grump who lives a solitary life and struggles to remember the beginning of his life. So when Aurora starts calling him, he thinks she is crazy. Little does he know that she os going to turn his whole life upside in the best way possible.

How I adore these Courage County mountain men!

Rafe is no exception! He’s grumpy, growly, and yummy. He’s also nursed a box turtle named Herbert, back to good health. And he’s fallen in love with the voice of a fake princess who keeps calling him to try scam him out of his money!

What?

Turns out the princess is not so fake. She’s also not a scammer. Aurora has come to Courage County to find her betrothed. You guessed it, that’s Rafe!

Their story packs a punch! Sparks fly, there is camping and s’mores, sweet and hot s’mexy times, and a reckoning of truth about a painful past.

Rafe and Aurora made me smile hard! They will make you smile too. I received a complimentary copy of this book and I purchased a copy. This is my honest review. 🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️ from me!

Reclusive mountain man Rafe gets what he thinks are con phone calls from a woman who claims to be a princess and demands to speak to him urgently. He ignores them until one day, there is an angry rain-drenched girl on his doorstep telling him he’s her prince. Aurora is a princess who was promised to the prince of a neighbouring country when they were just babies. No one has seen the prince in decades, but now that Aurora’s homeland is in danger, she has no other choice than to find him and marry him. Well, it sounds like a silly fairytale but is actually a truly entertaining and fun story about two awkward but very likeable people from completely different worlds who find a soulmate in each other and love where they didn’t expect it. Weirdly, even the plot was believable. If I could give more than 5 stars for this, I would. Excellent work, ms Brody. Highly recommend!.

Engaged to the Mountain Man is a short and steamy, OTT, instalove, grumpy-sunshine, curvy girl and her mountain romance with a royal twist. Aurora is a curvy princess in a small kingdom. She is betrothed from a young age and goes to meet her prince. Rafael (Rafe) is a hunky, grumpy mountain man who is convinced Aurora is trying to scam him. When she goes to find Rafe, as she needs to be married to take over the throne, they meet and are instantly attracted, but Rafe is not convinced he is the prince she thinks he is. Will love conquer all? Can Rafe come to terms with his past? The characters had great chemistry, and Rafe was just so sweet to her. In the end, we get a great HEA and lots of steamy goodness.

Rafe has grown up in the foster care system feeling alone and rejected. He does know anything about his family or where he came from. Aurora grew up wanting the love from her father but never received it. As Princess to her country she must marry the Prince arranged for her if she’s to inherit the throne. When Tage first meets Aurora he’s sceptical of who she really is. By the time he has proof he knows that she owns his heart but is scared she’ll be like the others and leave him. This was another great story in the Courage County Curves series. It didn’t take the usual path as the others but was still engaging and had plenty of steam and a couple who were meant for each other. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Aurora's father, the King's health is failing. If she does not get married soon, her cousin would end up ruling the country. She makes a trek to the US, to find her prince and betrothed. What she does not expect is a grumpy mountain man that does not believe her.

Rafe spent most of his life in foster care, no memory of family, let alone being a prince as Aurora is claiming. He did not expect her to show up at his doorstep, soaking wet at that.

There is something about her that makes him wish he was the prince.

Book 5 of the Courage County Curves. All books have been great so far but this took it out of the park and kept going. It was Score and I wish I can give more than 5 stars. It's all about Aurora and Rafe. OM Goodness, I loved them from the beginning and just kept getting better and better. She is such a strong person going through what she had to go through and figure out what to do before hell broke loose in the kingdom and Rafe not knowing he was all this time and finally realizing that her love will break the chains from is past. It was a great story, and you are going to love it too.

Aurora has some definite challenges ahead of her. She is a princess in need of her prince or loose her status to her horrible cousin. She does have a betrothed but has never met him. Well, there is no time like the present as her father is quite I’ll.
Aurora find Rafe in the mountains but first have to convince him that he is a prince. Rafe grew up in foster homes and was born with cerebral palsy. They do, however have an immediate attraction to each other. Aurora has a week to convince Rafe her is a prince and get him back to marry her.
This book was so good! I enjoyed it so much!.

Rafe didn’t realize he came from royalty until Aurora tracked him down for their arranged marriage. Rafe had a tough life because of having cerebral palsy but he has managed. Aurora is trying to prove she will be a wonderful queen to her Country but her father would rather her cousin take the title. She sets out to find her king and when she does they have a strong connection. I really enjoyed this book. Just like the rest of the series, it is short and sweet but we were able to have a great understanding of each person. I am glad Rafe got his head out of his backside and stood by his queen.

“Come on then. I’ll school you in the culinary art of peanut butter and jelly.”

This was such a fun read and a really unique premise- definitely not your usual mountain man romance! I've read three other books by this author before this one, but this one is my favorite. I love Rafe and Aurora. A so-called princess from a country he's never heard of calling him repeatedly. He thought she was a scammer trying to get money from him... until she shows up at his door and is surprised when he learns she really is a princess. But claiming he's a prince? That's not possible, right? I couldn't wait to see where this story would go and how it would play out! 5 stars.

I loved Engaged to the Mountain Man Book 5 of Courage County Curves. This was a great storyline, something different. Rafe is a loner and getting funny phone calls from someone claiming to be his princess bride, Aurora. He thinks it’s a scam. Aurora must find her prince to save her kingdom. This was sick a sweet story and i loved the characters. Aurora is young and innocent but will be a darling queen and Rafe will do anything to protect his queen. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

Short, Steamy Instalove

This is the fifth book in the Courage County Curves series. It's connected to the other books but can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. Aurora has been leaving voicemails to Rafe who she believes is her betrothed Prince Rafael. Rafe thinks the messages from Aurora are some kind of scam so when she shows up on his doorstep he's suspicious. Rafe doesn't remember his younger years but finds it hard to believe he's the prince Aurora's looking for. Rafe and Aurora's story is a steamy, sweet instalove.

Princess Aurora of Valkan was forced to go to the US looking for her betrothed with her father the King being ill as she needed to be married to take the thorn or her disgusting self-centered cousin would become King. Rafe grew up in the foster system had little to no memory prior to age five believed her to be a con woman. Neither expected the instant chemistry between them. A fabulous fairy tale like insta-love story with lots of fun surprises.

This was a fantastic story! Princess Aurora was trying to find Prince Rafael who she had been betrothed to from birth in order to save her country from her cousins rule. She makes contact with Rafe but he thinks she’s a scammer. With no other choice she tracks him down to Courage County. Wonderful story, totally absorbing, amazingly written with great chemistry, true love, a very determined heroine, a little misunderstanding and a beautiful HEA.

I love all of Mia Brody's books, and Enagaged to the Mountain Man is no exception. I love how the characters in her books are never perfect. Her characters are real and she shows that no matter what, anyone can find a happy ending. Just like Rafe finds his with Aurora. He has reasons for being gruff and grumpy, but as soon as he realizes Aurora is his, he's all in. Such a good, quick read!.

Not your typical Prince and Princess story

Aurora is in a princess in a small country and she has been sheltered her entire life. Rafe was moved from foster care home to foster care home since he was five. He doesn’t know anything about his past.

He is her betrothed whether he wants to believe it or not. She goes to meet him since her father is ill and she need to claim the throne that is rightfully hers.

She meets her mountain man and she is more than he bargained for.

I liked the sass between Rafe and Aurora and how they move towards love. Their are from two different worlds but make it work eventually with a little give and take.
Well written, great characters and a really interesting storyline that takes your attention. Well done!!.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. I didn't see this storyline coming for any of these mountain men. Who would have believed that Rafe could be this lost Rafeal. Aurora is as much as a surprise to him as his heritage. I loved Aurora with her determination and feistyness. It was a steamy fairytale to the end. I'm hoping Mia will have a bonus epilogue for this one. They have their struggles but the heart wins out. Great addition to the series
