When it comes to the book in the world of Charmed I am looking for fun, easy reads. Usually I find myself reading them on vacations mostly beach vacations. I have been a fan of Charmed since I was in middle school, it continues to this day to be one of my favorite shows. This book was a great addition to the world of Charmed. It was a unique story but still stayed true to the ways and themes of Charmed. I love visiting Piper, Phoebe, and Prue in books and this was a great story!
a nice story, one that i done think was made into an episode -i am pretty sure at least. i likes how this followed all three sisters and their own lives for a little while throughout this book instead of just one sister primarily.
i also enjoyed that it really showed how especially piper -as she does in the show- tries very hard to find a place outside of witchcraft and trying to not let being a witch be one of the only things beside her job that she has.
Alright so what to do if you want to rewatch your favourite series: Charmed. but you are already watching so much and also time is an issue here. Correct, you are going to try and read the entire bookseries this year. Since you haven't done that before.
I myself own a couple of the Charmed novels but my father has them all so it's a nice way to see him from time to time. Steal I mean borrow his books and read them all. Currently eleven extra on my shelf. Let's see how fast I can finish them, especially if school is over for me.
I enjoyed this book in the same fashion I enjoy the series as a light-hearted guilty pleasure. The writing veers to the slightly cheesy "Fear not!" "The witches must be destroyed!" but then again so does the dialogue and on the show ;) Fortunately the author also pokes fun of the cheesier aspects of the series with gems such as:
Bad guy: "You may address me as Master."
Piper: "Master of what? Hokey Halloween costumes?"
I love Prue, I just do. I know lots of people don't like her but I do and it is one of the reasons why I love the Charmed Classics books. I love Piper a lot in this book, she is awesome and on one of her best moments I think. The story is enjoyable and exciting and one of my favorites of all the Charmed stories I have read up until now.
I love this series and I love all the characters. The story actually kept me guessing right to the end which was surprising at least to me. A wonderful quick and easy and suspenseful story.
The Crimson Spell is the second book I've read in the Charmed series, and I really enjoyed it. It had the feel of the Charmed TV show but a story not featured on the show. It's a short book, only around 180 pages, which makes it a quick easy read. I think the characters are portrayed well, especially Prue and Piper, and the storyline with "The Master" was interesting . My only criticisms were the spells used in the book were definitely not as good as the ones in the show.
I'm loving reading the Charmed series. This was another great installment in the series. I love the sisters and thought the author captured them great. Looking forward to reading more of these books. :)
Going a little backwards but this book is set toward the beginning of Season 2 as Piper has just opened P3 and Prue still works at Buckland's.
Since this was the third tie-in novel, I didn't expect it to go so hard as it did.
The threat against the Halliwell sisters is a cult of warlocks called the Coven of the New Sun who know their identities as The Charmed Ones by their leader, referred to as the Master.
We get a young woman getting killed straight off with a powerful evil crystal melting her body into goo for betraying them. The beans are already spilled a little as the name of two members are mentioned with one being a woman named Adrienne and the other a new recruit named Kenji Yamada who are going to get close the sisters to destroy them and take their powers.
Adrienne gets close to Prue pretending to be a Wiccan who runs her own shop around Buckland's on Prue's way home from work. For Prue to be close to anyone besides her sisters takes a lot and since she doesn't have any real friends...it is already a gut punch to us as the readers.
Kenji ends up going the dojo where Phoebe is taking martial arts classes since she has no real effective power against warlock attacks to learn some karate. Being attractive, Phoebe falls really hard for Kenji and it hurts to see naive Phoebe being lead on like this.
Piper's "enemy" is harder to figure out in the sense that you have many options...
Piper is volunteering to be a mentor or a "big sis" to a child from the Sunrise Center or well a teenager is more appropriate as they are being bounced from foster homes and...detention centers.
Kind hearted Piper gets saddled with Celeste who isn't too thrilled and then ends up having two kids as Celeste begs for Piper to be a mentor to her roommate Daria as well. There is also the fact that Prue as well as Phoebe don't feel comfortable having Piper putting children in danger because they happen to be witches with demons and warlocks coming after them.
As you get closer to the end, the reveals and the twists just keep getting better but I'm kind of glad that Piper's situation was more misleading because the impact is so much stronger.
This would have made one good episode of Charmed!
The ending to The Crimson Spell is probably the best one I have read out of all these books. The darker tone is going to let you know right away, even at the start, that good will win against evil but that a price is going to be paid.
Well this was my least favorite Charmed book I’ve read and I’ve read like 30 of them.
First the inconsistencies got to me. You're using season one photos on the cover but Piper is already working at the club (which doesn’t happen till season 2) but Phoebe has just moved back from New York (which is the very start of season one. That was enough for me to be like where the heck does this fall in the timeline!!
Second the overall plot felt very lacking, it was very basic and it didn’t feel like the stakes where high. This Coven of the New Sun or whatever it was called never really felt like a threat. They had others doing their dirty work for them and then just hung out in robes. I wanted to see action. All that happened was they each got a little knotted ribbon that took their powers away. I wanted villainy!
The girl’s personality also felt lacking as well. They were like the barest hint of themselves.
Found 6 Charmed novels discarded in my laundry room. The author really captured the voices of Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. It made for good reading. I have five others, but I don't think I can read six charmed books in a row. Not engaging enough. I'll read them in between other novels until I get bored.
I love the Charmed tv series and the books do not disappoint. They are short and sweet, this book flowed well and did not take long to read. I really liked Celeste and wished she was actually part of the series, to see what happens next. The three sisters stay true to their characters which I Iove. Overall, a good read.
I was a big fan of this book. There were some parts that I skimmed due to predictable battle scenes, but the overall plot of the story was really interesting. I loved the "infiltration" of the Charmed ones lives. This was an episode that I would have fallen in love with.
Its so sad that the forgetting spell worked so well Kenji forgot who Phoebe was 😔 they would have been great together. I did not see Celeste being apart of the evil coven so that was a nice twist. Also the director for the Sunshine Center being the Master. Wow. Great story that had me hooked!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really enjoyed this one! The previous entry in this series was underwhelming and heavy on the cheese. This one was much improved all around. The characters acted more like themselves and the overall plot was a little better out together. It read just like an episode.
Is Phoebe gonna have a new boyfriend in all of these books? This is the second Charmed book I’ve read this year and just like in the one before, she starts dating this guy and then something happens and they aren’t dating at the end. Poor lady though I almost wanna chalk it up to lazy writing.
I love Charmed! This was a quick read that brought me back to the Charmed world. I wish they still sold new copies of these books as I am missing some from my collection.
This was cheesy as hell (as I wanted it to be!) but I loved it, it gave me all the nostalgic vibes I was looking for, can't wait to collect and read more in the series :)
