When bar owner Rick Moore goes out for ice cream, he comes back with a powerful hankering for sweet-faced ice cream scooper Devon Walker. But he dismisses his interest in the younger man; sure he'll never meet him again.
Then a chance encounter in his bar leads to an explosive night that has Devon showing Rick just how grown up he is. Only Devon takes off after, sure that his burgeoning feelings aren't returned.
Or are they?
Now Rick is determined to win Devon's trust, and him, for good. Will Devon take a chance on the cowboy or let his hurt keep him safely away?
Rick Moore goes out for ice cream and comes away with the memory of the sweet and sexy young guy named Devon that served it to him. Although he's definitely attracted he doesn't pursue anything since he feels Devon is too young for him.
Devon Walker likes his job selling ice cream. When he serves a gorgeous cowboy that seems to be flirting with him he's surprised he manages not to drop the ice cream. Later that night, still thinking about the sexy cowboy, he receives a call from his twin sister. Denise invites him to meet her and her fiancé at a local bar and unable to tell her no, Devon agrees to meet her.
When Rick sees Devon walk into his bar he immediately notices other people's reactions to the young man and he's not happy with that. Feeling jealousy is not something he's used to and he can't stop himself from pursuing the younger man.
I enjoyed both of the main characters, Rick and Devon were well written and I felt they could work really well as a couple. The night they spent together was amazingly hot and their scene together at the end of the book was lovely, very sweet and tender. I also liked Devon's sister Denise and Rick's employee Davis and thought they were great additions to the story, Zoe Nichols was able to develop them enough to where I liked them but they didn't overwhelm the story.
What I didn't enjoy so much was the big misunderstanding the morning after. I know it furthered the storyline along as this is in essence a version of the 'classic' boy meets boy, they have sex, boy loses boy and finally boy gets boy back at the end but it just didn't work for me.
However, other than that I really liked As Good as it Gets. Zoe Nichols' story is well written and enjoyable, the characters are appealing, the sex is hot and the story flows along well with a satisfying ending.
