Giselle has barely had time to accept her new life, never mind the prospect of motherhood, but she finds herself, yet again thrown into chaos, only this time there is more than just her life at stake. With vampires and shadow creatures vying for her life, can Giselle escape the darkness consuming her, or will she finally descend into the world of shadows?

Date of Review- 1/01/12 Author- Julieanne Lynch Star Rating- 5!!! :D
"I followed him out into the dark, damp corridor and I knew that somehow I was walking towards the end, and there was not a thing I could do."
REVIEW- Well, Julieanne has out done herself again! Her brilliance radiates off this book, a book of sheer bliss and the power to make people believe in the impossible…Not only was I covered, head to toe in goosebumps but at many times I found myself breathless and completely lost for words.
One amazing read I would thoroughly recommend to anyone…book lover or not! Definitely the solution to any problem…the one book recommended by myself to snuggle up with on a wet rainy day which where I’m from is EVERY day.
'Walking with Shadows', the second instalment to 'In The Shadows' continues the heart grabbing story of one extraordinary girl Giselle, once an ordinary, hormonal teen with the immature problems every teen faces from time to time begins to learn that those everyday problems she used to face are bleak in comparison to those she has yet to tackle.
This book is guaranteed to leave you pleading for more…once you start reading it is impossible to stop! 'Walking with Shadows' is the apple to your pie, the stone to your plum, and the candy to your cane! It is everything you need! In love with urban fantasy? Then this is the series for you!!
Seriously Miss Lynch you truly out done yourself with this one…Away back in July 2011, I truly thought all of your brilliance had shone through…but I couldn’t have be more wrong…you just keep surprising me with your talent! With 'In The Shadows' I was surprised at how rearranged Giselle’s life had become but with this one I found myself utterly stunned at how strong she had become through the journey you have unleashed upon her. WELL DONE!
Overall, 'Walking with Shadows' accomplishes all a second instalment should do! I HIGHLY recommend this to any thrill seeking, love infatuate book nutter looking for that one book that has it all! Miss Lynch I wish your book all the best, there is not even a drop of doubt on how TERRIFIC this novel truly is! I wish you all the best for this New Year and I will eagerly await your next work of art :) ♥
Walking With Shadows is the exciting sequel to In the Shadows by Julieanne Lynch. After everything that happened in Into the Shadows Giselle is left pregnant with Alex's child and she is forced into hiding to keep him from taking her baby from her. The character of Giselle was darker than she was in the first book but all of her actions were justifiable because she was just trying to keep herself and her baby safe. I was so surprised about what happened to the character of Marc because I thought maybe he'd die but I didn't think he'd get turned into a vampire. I'm already counting down the days until the next book is released. I can only imagine what Giselle will do next after the ending of Walking With Shadows.
I didn't think that Giselle's story could get any better than In the Shadows, Julieanne Lynch's 1st book in the Shadow Trilogy, but it did!! In the second book Walking with Shadows, Giselle's already crazy, and unbridled life is only getting wierder! Nothing is what it seems, and if you think the rollercoaster ride in the 1st book rocked! Julieanne is taking us on a much higher, and faster one this time!! By the time I got to the last page, I was crying because I had to wait to read the final book in this trilogy. If this series isn't nominated for an award, it will a dis-service to our literary genre! 5 stars to Walking with Shadows
Have you read Walking With Shadows yet? If not, what are you waiting for? This book is fantastic, and let me remind you that it has 5 star reviews across the board! Let me also tell you that it has those for a reason! Walking With Shadows ROCKS! It is such a PAGE TURNER and much better than the first book in the trilogy, and yet, that book (In The Shadows) is an upcoming legend itself. Definitely not one to miss!!!
This is the second book in "The Shadows" trilogy. It definitely had a big wow! factor, much like the first book. It is also not one that can stand alone. If you read this one without having first read "Into The Shadows" you'll likely be very confused and you won't get the enjoyment out of the book that you should.
These books are fast paced and full of action and emotion that will keep you turning the pages because you really want to know how everything is going to turn out.
In this book, Giselle is fighting to save her child from Alex, who wants to take the baby from her and kill her. Everything is not what it seems in this book and some of it is and that really makes for a great book.
The author states that this book is for those 15 and up, and I agree. This one is more sexual than "Into The Shadows."
My only thing that got confusing for me, and this is my only gripe, was that the story was told from several points of view, Alex, Giselle and Marc and sometimes I had to go back and see whose head we were in.
Other than that, this is a super series. I can't wait to read the last book when it comes out, because Julieanne Lynch doesn't disappoint.
WOW, what more can I say other than the sequel to Lynch's In The Shadows did not disappoint. Everything from the first line, right through to the torment of the ending left me on the edge of my seat. Giselle has grown in more ways than one, and her kick ass ballsy attitude can only get better. Hose me down quick, because I need me a Antoine, and I want one NOW! lol, he is just the most fantastic male vampire character that I have read about in a long while. Note to readers: the bit where he bites into the apple, yeah, I wanted him biting into me lol.
But seriously, this book is better, sexier, more daring and an overall gem of a sequel. It will not disappoint.
I really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down once I started and needless to say, did not get enough sleep that night.
The book moved along at a great pace from beginning to end, had wonderful characters that you want, no need, more information on, as you cannot help but fall in love with them, and an awesome story as well.
Julieanne Lynch is an amazing author and I really enjoy reading her books and look forward to reading more of her work in the near future.
This book just didn't settle right with me. Giselle has the baby a boy and suddenly Alex completely changes. She goes home and everyone if fine with her suddenly having a baby. Until the vampires hunt her down and then her family disowns her. It just seemed like the personality of everyone in the book kept changing.

Book 2 begins where book 1 ends, well sort of. Giselle is out for a while, about 9 weeks, but wakes up at the beginning of the book - so all we've missed is her being out. Giselle basically spends the better part of the book in and out of trouble, which seems to be about par for her. We see the same group of people with a few new ones added in, and the battle for light to overcome the darkness takes place. One of the 'new' characters is someone from the past - and I have my suspicions on who it is. I mean it is fairly obvious, but there is no real confirmation as of yet. However, if it is who we are led to believe it is, there will definitely be an interesting confrontation, and a difficult choice of the heart in book 3.
What I liked: First, let me just say how much I love Antoine, he is without a doubt my favorite character in this series. He is charming, yet delightfully wicked. I am positive that he has to be a fun character to write. Besides my love of Antoine, I do like the majority of the characters, and much of the dialog. I enjoyed seeing glimmers of hope for Alex. I'm not sure I hold and hope for him and Giselle to work things out, but I would like to think there is still good in him.
Although Nergal is only a small part of the story, he will forever hold a special place in my heart, where this book is concerned. My favorite quote from the book:
"Oh, stop feeling sorry for yourself and start thinking about putting whatever is left of your soul back together so that I can get back to my Queen."
What I didn't like: There were many times I wanted to smack Giselle. She isn't a stupid girl, but man she makes me question that thought on a few occasions. She is childish, and often times thoughtless. She goes through this transformation and yet she still behaves like a spoiled child and ends up causing even more issues.
My biggest frustration, however, is while she is 'fighting the darkness' she starts in on her whining is but in her place by Nergal (one of my favorite moments by the way) and then she begins to grow. Now the reason this was frustrating to me is this entire section seemed a bit rushed. She was only there for a flash and then it was time to go - I think a little more time could have been given to this life altering event. However, she still has her moments of self-doubt and childish behavior as mentioned above, even after this...
I question the reaction of her loving parents once they learn the truth about her. I mean, these people had just told her that it would always be her home and they would love her no matter what. Apparently that wasn't true. Now, I realize they might have needed some time to digest what was going on, and it definitely showed you where Giselle gets her flare for the dramatic overreaction.
I also have a problem with how Marc reacted with Giselle when he approached her to get her baby. We are talking about two people who have known each other for years. They have been in love for years; you would think he would know that just showing up and saying "I'm here for your baby" wasn't going to fly. Yet as he is going through the healing process (after Giselle responded to him) he is angered that she became such a bitch. Really?!? I mean seriously, you show up and tell a mother that you are there for their baby, and give no explanation, just demand the baby and you are surprised that she went all Firestarter on your ass? She's a mother! Of course she was ready to kill you!
Now you might ask why I'm giving the book a 4 star rating when it seems there was much I disliked. Well the reason is I liked the book, and a lot of what I don't like about Giselle brings the story lines into play. Not to mention, that this seems to be a common trait in most of the girls of the books I'm reading of late, so either it is just the way teenage girls are or it is just what is needed to cause the problems to make the story good. Marc is a guy and going through a lot of changes, so I'll give him a break - but he really did change quite a bit in a very short time.
The reason I took it to 4 from 5 is because of the areas I felt were rushed.
I still think the book is a worthwhile read, I did enjoy it and as I have stated before, if I have an emotional reaction to a book, good or bad, then the author has done their job. I didn't want to stop reading the book, and I do plan on reading book 3, so I believe a 4 is justified.

I am such a big fan of In the Shadows – the first novel in The Shadows Trilogy – so I was very excited to read the sequel,Walking With Shadows. I loved, loved, loved it.
Giselle is one of my all time favourite female characters. She has been through so much and, somehow, she finds the strength to keep going. I really admire that about her. Giselle is such an honest character; her emotions are raw and heartfelt, which allows the reader to be deeply pulled into her story and her world.
In Walking With Shadows, it is not only Giselle’s voice that the reader is exposed to, but also that of Alex and Marc. Being able to get inside Alex’s head to see what motivated him was so interesting. For a few brief moments (and I do mean brief) he would display kindness and then he would revert back to being emotionally cold, harsh and cruel. I got the feeling that Alex believes that he can’t be vulnerable – that he views it as a weakness. I’m very interested to see how much of Alex’s personality is his own and how much is the product of brainwashing by Atarah. Will Alex step up and be a man – one that doesn’t partake in violence to get what he wants – and a loving father, or has Atarah’s influence gone so deep that there is no hope?
One character that does bring hope is Antoine. I loved him in In the Shadows and I loved him even more in Walking With Shadows. He brings light to Giselle’s often very dark world. The conversations between Antoine and Giselle are something that I just love. Their conversations may often be filled with sarcasm but it is evident that there is a deep respect between them. I would love to see Giselle and Antoine as a couple.
I don’t want to talk too much about what happens in this novel because it is such an amazing story and it takes the reader on an incredible journey. I will just say that Walking With Shadows is full of suspense, intrigue, action, and unexpected twists. Wow, the twists; there was one twist that made by jaw drop to the floor.
I experienced so many emotions while reading this novel. There were times when my heart broke for Giselle and I found myself reaching for the tissues.
Julieanne Lynch has given readers such a beautiful character in Giselle and has written a fascinating and intriguing series. I can’t wait to read the final installment.
5/5
*Recommended for mature readers, 15+, due to some adult content.
* Thank you to Julieanne Lynch for providing me with a copy of Walking With Shadows to review.
Escaping Shadows is the second book in the Shadow World series by Julieanne Lynch. Book One, Within the Shadows, is a must-read before you start Escaping Shadows otherwise you may find yourself a tad lost.
I will admit that I held off reading Escaping Shadows until I knew book three was coming out. I'm so glad I did because I'm almost sure that I would of thrown my kindle off the wall in frustration if I couldn't read book three straight away after what happens at the end of Escaping Shadows. (I've done this before)
Escaping Shadows follows on from Within the Shadows with Giselle trying to come to terms with her new life while expecting a child. Everyone want the child, can she keep him safe, while running from Alex and other dark forces?
Ms Lynch cleverly tells this story from many POVs which I loved because it creates an extra dimension to the series by telling it from the 'good' side and 'evil' side. Apart from the well written storyline that will keep you intrigued to find out what happens as it's full of suspense, drama and action, Ms Lynch will transport you into a different world, a world that you will love to be a reality of and to know all the favorite characters from the series personally.
My favourite character is Alex. Yes, I know he's the 'bad guy' but as well as his evil side(which I love) we also see a softer side to him in this book. Giselle definitely displays a lot of character development compared to the first book, which is great. It shows that like all things, the more she's gone through the more she grows. I love the way that she also throws a tantrum which reminded me that she still is only 18. I am conflicted as to whom I think Giselle should end up with, Antoine, Marc, Alex or another? (Crypitc I know but I've a feeling someone else might turn up in book three) I love them all in different ways.
Without a shadow of doubt, Escaping Shadows deserves more than five stars. I can't wait to get my teeth stuck into book three Fighting Shadows. Enjoy!
Ebook: Escaping Shadows (Shadow World) Author: Julieanne Lynch Fiction, Paranormal, This review may contain spoilers I was given this by the author for an honest review Summary: Giselle has barely had time to accept her new life, never mind the prospect of motherhood, but she finds herself, yet again thrown into chaos, only this time there is more than just her life at stake. With vampires and shadow creatures vying for her life, can Giselle escape the darkness consuming her, or will she finally descend into the world of shadows? The Review Well I have been looking forward to this for a while now, I adored Within the Shadows and believe me I adored this one too, I am so enthralled by Giselle and Antoine’s life, I couldn’t put it down, There were some moments in this book, when I honestly wanted to be in their world to help them, not that I can kick butt, but I would have tried. There were some awesome fight scenes in this one, and even more scenes that made me so emotional, I am so looking forward to book 3, I hope we don’t have too long a wait until it is out, not sure I will be able to cope without Giselle and Antoine, or any of the other characters, I am not going to give anything away but I do think Alex is growing on me, not sure WHY at the moment but I think he has potential, as with Within the Shadows, the author really knew how to keep you on toes, the twists & turns had me enthralled from the start, this book just carries on from the first, without any break, just how a series should be, that way you don’t wonder what has been happening with all the characters in the meantime, I loved how the author gave us perspectives from a variety of characters , I love when an author does this, its always great to know what each character feels during the book, Highly recommended to all friends & family, Please go and grab yourself a copy you won’t be Sorry, 5/5
This was an extremely well written novel. Lynch’s mastery of the English language allows the reader to immerse themselves in the story without having to figure out what the author is trying to say. This story has a flow that is easy to follow. Even though each chapter is written from the perspective of a different character this does not break up the flow of the story, nor does it add any confusion as to who did what, or where they are.
The characters in this novel are quite unique. Lynch produces characters that cannot be compared to anyone. Each is developed to suit a specific purpose. You also get to know the characters. Some of them become much more than just figures on a page. I must admit, however, that there were times when I was just plain sick of the main character running away from everything.
I loved that there is a large mix of supernatural races working together. The conflicts in the novel are not between the supernatural races as is stereotypically found. They are between good and evil, with a great deal of conflict within one specific race.
As the 2nd novel in a series, I was quite surprised to find that it would be quite possible to read it as a standalone story. Obviously, the 1st story in the series gives a great deal of information regarding the background and the characters. However, this novel gives the reader enough information that the reader would not be confused should they begin the series with this installment. This is a novelty not found with many series, especially considering that this one picks up right where the first left off.
I did quite enjoy reading this novel and would not hesitate to recommend it to others who enjoy reading about the supernatural.
Escaping Shadows is the second book in the Trilogy and I have to say I enjoyed it more than the first book. Giselle wakes up after 9 weeks to find she is showing in her pregnancy, I loved the way the Author wrote the scenes when Giselle feels her baby move and when she talks to the baby the emotion is spot on for me. Antoine is by her side and we see their relationship grow into something more which I was hoping for from the first book so I was happy to see that. We still have all the twist and turns and a few surprise thrown in and yes those Shadows are still after her. But by the end of the book she has a new enemy in the form of someone she loves and just who is that hooded figure is he out to harm Giselle and the baby or to protect them? I loved the scene where Marc is attacked by the Shadows I actually squirmed in my seat in horror as the Author describes it well and made it very real for me…Oh I hate maggots. Even with Alex after her well after is after Giselle to get her baby we get to see a nicer side to Alex again as I think he finally realizes just how dangerous Atarah is and he will protect his son but then he does something horrible at the end so I can’t wait to see how that plays out in the next book. Giselle finally uses her powers and shocks everyone with them even the nasty Xavier and it was good to see her kick ass and I was with her all the way in the big fight scene ..oh I love blood and gore. With a little help from some Angel children and a Goddess Giselle has to fight the evil in herself and at the end of the book she has to fight for her son. Go kick ass Giselle and I can’t wait to see where her Journey takes her next as long as she ends up with Antoine I will be one happy lady.
I loved the book! I liked it alot more then the first one of the series as there was no abuse, and I didn't hate as Alex as much. Alex I'm glad he's changed even if it was just a little bit, but he and Giselle don't belong together. I'm falling more and more in love with Antoine, he cherishes Giselle and would do anything for her, he treats he like a queen and with respect. "Well, one would be stupid to deny the obvious, but I have always been a sucker for damsels in distress, especially beautiful princess like you." He was so irritatingly confident and smug with himself." Giselle is nothing like a damsel is distress, she does anything and everything to protect her unborn child, and even when he was born. I especially enjoy the conversation Alex and Antoine have, I think it may have given Alex a perspective of how badly he had treated Giselle and how much of an ass he was. "Do you love Giselle, Antoine?" Finally, he answered and kept it simple, "Yes." I'm like take that!!! Then there were moments when Alex needs to either be punched or kicked in the groin for the crap he says to Giselle, "All you had to do was marry me, have the child, and live your life," he murmured. "Instead, you got yourself kidnapped, destroyed my father's life, and cavorted with angels. If anything you did this to yourself. It's you who is turning simple plan into a nightmare not us." Hells bells Alex do you NOT know when to shut your trap like seriously! Let's talk about that cliffhanger, NOT IMPRESSED WAS I, but I have to admit it wasn't as bad as the first book's, and Marcus now needs to die like seriously.
My head is spinning, in a good way. That was a paranormal romp and half, how J lynch kept up with her changing characters I don't know but it was great.
This is the second book in the series and you need to read first trust me.
Book 2 continues from were book 1 finished and continues Giselles story, my god that girl is gonna need some serious therapy!!!
Giselle is pregnant with the vampire princes baby, but Antoine (also a vampire and alex's cousin) sweet funny adorable Antoine is there to watch over her, but she has a knack of getting herself into trouble, but then again with so many factions after you and your baby it would be hard to find an easy path.
Giselle grows a pair in this book she becomes strong in her struggles, and develops unexpected powers.
Alex, dark darling Alex I hate him but love him too - I can't explain it and cannot help but hope for more goodness in him.
Marc the ex boyfriend, oh bless him, and what a change is all I'm willing to say!
To be honest there are so many twists and turns in this story I couldn't try to explain it but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had many emotions run through me while reading this book and some of my hopes didn't pan out.....but others spiralled.
Today's review is on Walking With Shadows by Julieanne Lynch
Walking with Shadows is the second installment in Lynch's Shadows series and like the first, it has left me wanting more.
As if Giselle couldn't suffer any further, she awakes from a nine week slumber to find that her baby bump has grown exponentially. And though she is both confused and alarmed, she finds comfort that Antoine has been looking after her. But the ever growing dangers are always just a step ahead of Giselle.
Not only does Alex want their unborn child, but the King of Darkness wants her to himself. And then there is Atarah who will use anyone to get what she wants. No matter where Giselle turns she is never truly safe. Fighting the darkness that was trying to consume her was one thing, but now she has to travel through Hell to rescue her baby!
Friends become foe's and Angel's loose their lives as the drama plays out. Will evil prevail or will good win in the end, and at what cost to the characters we know and love. Can Giselle kill the father of her child? Will she be strong enough to do what she must?
Just as In the Shadows had me shedding tears, Walking had me reaching for the tissue box a couple of times too. Now I just have to wait for the final installment. I hope it works out the way I want >.< I love Antoine!!
I received an ARC copy from the author to give an honest review.
Just when I thought Giselle's story could not get any better it does. In Escaping Shadows Giselle will not let anything happen to her son Kaden, not even Alex trying to kill him.
This story is told from many points of view Marc, Alex, Giselle which I thought was pretty cool!
Everything is not what it seems an you may be surprised. Giselle, becomes more powerful than in book one, and it makes you wonder now how much power does she truly have, and what powers will the baby have?
There were a few parts that I truly enjoyed and they are as followed:
1. I thought the part where Antonie is in the room with Giselle after she gave birth and the exchange between the two was very sweet.
2. When Giselle used her powers on Marc and had blue flames that was wickedly cool!
The ending was perfect! I can not wait to read book three as I know it will have a love between Antoine and Giselle that just has to develop. A upset momma who will do whatever it takes to get her son back, even going to Hell! And plenty of action. I would suggest you read book one "Into the Shadows", before this one so you are not confused. And there is a bit more sexual talk so I would say this is for a mature YA on top.
Book two is Amazing!! Giselle is so confused. She has nowhere to run. No one she can trust. Alex, her not so best friend anymore has became so evil. Alex uses his vampire persuasion on Giselle, they marry and conceives a child. Alex beats her to near death out of jealousy. Giselle gets kidnapped and tossed from bad situation to another. Her wish is to go home back to her human family. And wake up from this nightmare. No such luck, just not yet, anyway. So, Giselle is carrying the future ruler. Everyone wants to get a hand on the child and use him for their own selfish needs. Giselle just wants to keep the little one inside her womb safe. Developing a trust for Antoine, maybe more. He has accepted as his duty to keep Giselle and her baby safe. While in a safe haven, Giselle takes time to rest and heal her broken soul. In her dreams she travels to another realm. She learns how to find the goodness inside her. That will save her. She kicks ass! Giselle is feeling comforted in her new found power. With Antoine by her side, she goes to check on her baby. A new nightmare has just begun.....she will have to kill to get her baby back into her arms! Where is Book3? I need more Giselle and Antoine! Stat! An amazing second book and I don't doubt that book3 will be just as amazing!
"Escaping Shadows" follows Giselle, heroine from the first book in the Shadow Series, into an even more complex life. Her pregnancy is taking a scary turn, the father of her child wants the baby for himself and evil forces are after her. In her world of Vampires and Angels, Giselle is also emotionally confused between her feelings for Leonid, who is dead, and other more current potential love interests. The book has all ingredients for a great paranormal romance, if only Giselle could focus on it, but she has her child to consider and finds it hard to know whom she can trust. Told in different narratives the book enables us to see the story from more than just one perspective. Although at times confusing (there is no lengthy catch up with the lot and characters from the first series) Lynch has given her characters a lot of depth and conflict, which to me was one of the strengths of the book. Giselle is not sure what she wants making her interesting and an unpredictable heroine for the third book. Along the way there are several other great and memorable characters and some beautiful scenes between Giselle and her friends. Lynch possesses great vision and imagination that successfully managed to create a magic world of her own.
I have had escaping shadows on my tbr pile for quite some time and was pleased with the second book in this series.
A little confusing at times, sometimes I wasn't quite sure what was happening because Giselle seemed to be with different 'groups' for different reasons, but overall it was a good read.
Baby Kaden was so sweet, lucky for G not having to go through the entire 9 months pregnancy!
I felt sorry for Giselle when she returned home to her family in search for a place of safety for her son. They were so happy and welcoming at first, but as soon as they discovered part of the truth and how much things had changed, they practically shoved the mother and child out of the door, which I thought was a little bit unrealistic.
As for Marc, wow, I did not see that coming! Considering how much he has changed, and I mean that literally, I worry about Giselle's safety from the wrath of a newborn vampire :s
I can sense some redemption coming from Alex...Maybe there is still something good in him, although he is not setting a good example by kidnapping his son!
And who is this mysterious man who Giselle believes is dead but is the leader of the vampires? Leonid???

Holy smokes, this book certainly had me on the edge of my seat more than a few times. My heart raced when baby Kaden was born and I found myself tearing up, becoming totally emotional and invested in Giselle's life. I actually wasn't sure I'd enjoy the three perspectives this book was told from, but it worked really well. It was great to step inside Alex's mind and see him as something other than the asshole I came to loathe in book one. Marc surprised me more than a few times, and the sex scenes - they are certainly not for under 15's as the publisher notes, but in saying this, I am not too convinced teens would be put off my this at all. Overall, this series just seems to get better and better, and having recently finished the first book, I have to admit that Julieanne Lynch is one rising author to watch. Not enough is being said about this lady - her world speaks for itself. Just one more thing, I want more Antoine, preferably naked and served to me on a platter, but then again I am selfish. I highly recommend this series to anyone who isn't afraid of the darker side of YA, and who is partial to a little spice in their lives. Jump in if you dare! lol
Escaping Shadows is the exciting sequel to In the Shadows by Julieanne Lynch. I loved the book! Everything from the first line, right through to the torment of the ending left me on the edge of my seat. These books are fast paced and full of action and emotion that will keep you turning the pages because you really want to know how everything is going to turn out. In Escaping Shadows, a whole new life awaits Giselle. One she still doesn't know how twisted can be, and one she must fight to learn her way through. Giselle is pretty much alone in this dark new world. She is fighting to save her child from Alex, who wants to take the baby from her, but the King of Darkness wants more, he wants her to himself. No matter where Giselle turns she is never truly safe. Fighting the darkness that was trying to consume her was one thing, but now she has to do anything in her powers to rescue her baby! I have enjoyed reading this novel and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. You would love this books from the first page! I can't wait to read the last book when it comes out, because Julieanne Lynch doesn't disappoint.
The sparks are flying, literally... Book 2 picks up right where Within the Shadows (Shadow World Book #1) left off. Giselle has just been rescued by Antoine and is waking up from a 9 week coma. She is now very pregnant (as her precious bundle will be coming much faster than 9 months). The book is told from three different points of view (Giselle, Marc, and Alex) - which I loved. It gives you even more insight into the characters.
In this story Marc gets pulled into Giselle's new world - it is fun watching him adapt and survive, or at least kind of surviving. Alex struggles with his allegiance to Atarah and his love her his newborn son. Will Giselle be able to protect her son? Give this book a try and see what happens.
Favorite passage: "When was the last time your fed?" he asked. "I ... umm ... I had pancakes in my mom's," I replied, trying to avoid his eyes. He took my hands in his and chuckled. "Giselle, you know what I'm talking about," he remarked.
The sparks are starting to fly, can't wait for book 3 ... it will be hell waiting ;)
*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*
This is the second book in this amazing, dark, vampire series by Julieanne Lynch and I loved it every bit as much as the first.
I will confess I was a little nervous when I saw that there was a lot of switching perspectives and the story told from several voices (as opposed to book 1 which is totally Giselle centered) but I needn't have worried. The extra viewpoints add so much to the unfolding tale and are done in such a way that it doesn't take on the choppy feel that can easily happen.
This second installment takes you way out of the normal realm (literally) and this again sets it even further from the normal teenage girl / vampire books already on the shelves.
For those of us that like things a little darker this is a must read! Bring on book 3!!
5 out of 5 stars for me!! V""V

When we first meet Giselle in Within the Shadows she is a very naive teenager. She follows blindly with whatever she is told, who to trust, when to run etc. If you are looking for some more of that girl in this book then you will be disappointed. Giselle has grown up so much since we first met her that sometimes she is almost unrecognisable, she is still Giselle she still has doubts about who to trust but now she is starting to trust herself and her own instincts. And she is no longer driven by herself, she's driven by her need to protect her baby.
Once again we find ourselves in a story that is constantly moving, constantly turning, leaving the reader wondering what is going on never knowing who to trust. And its this aspect of Lynch's writing that I enjoy the most. I never know what's going to happen next, I never know if I can fully trust a character, and I guess that's how Giselle feels.
I am really looking forward to seeing how this develops in the next instalment.
I loved this book just as much as the first...maybe even more. This was for sure a book that I could not put down and I wished that it was longer so that I could have kept on enjoying it. As with the first book there are twists and turns that just keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for what's going to happen next. I am new to this author but I can assure you that I will definitely be a big fan if her other work is as good as this is.
This book picks up where Within The Shadows left off, and Giselle is still trying to work out everything that is going on around her and who she can trust. With much more action in this book, there was never a dull moment and I was kept gripped throughout. There is much more to this story, and with hints of more to come, I was left guessing as to what is in store for Giselle in the future. With so many twists and turns, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will happily grab the next book once released to see how it all comes together.
I received an e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
