Sooo…that was a rather strange read. The art really brings something authentic and nice to this manga, although some panels weren’t detailed enough and made it hard to figure out what was happening. The story was, however, definitely the one thing I couldn’t understand here. What started off as vacations at the beach turned into some kind of retelling of what I guess is a japanese myth I had never heard of? It’s honestly hard to pinpoint what the author tried to tell with this story as I don’t have knowledge of that whole thing at the end that seems to be a part of the folklore I don’t know about. The plot twist happened too abruptly and quickly, with not a single explanation. Like…why is that boy a tentacle beast banging the mc all of a sudden?? I believe this manga deserves to be read multiple times with research on the matter as well, in order to understand its message.
This was such a mindfuck. In a good way that had me rereading it from start to finish right away and it was like reading it for the first time with this new mindset. The art is gorgeous and made me long for the ocean. It also made me dread it. The last story was also a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what this mangaka doest next.
