The Savage series comes together in a box set, Her Forbidden Protector is the complete series, containing books one through four. This was an interesting read, an omegaverse with alphas, betas, and omegas, heats, knotting, scents, and all that comes with an omegaverse but setting a dystopian backdrop with zombies.
I'm always up for a good omegaverse but I was a little nervous about the zombie aspect, I don't read anything with zombies so I didn't know how I would feel about it. Turns out that I didn't have to worry about it too much, while the zombies were a problem for the characters they didn't overwhelm the story.
While I like Narah, the mfc, it took time for me to like the four alphas. Ragnar, Stone, Nikos, and Crius aren't as cruel as the other males in the story but they are just as brutal and not without their own issues. However, the relationship between them and Narah improves and I love how hard and deep all four of them feel for Narah. The connection between them is real and they would do anything to keep her by their side.
As for the plot, this series was most definitely a dark read, the world was brutal with cruel alphas and omegas at their mercy, most of the guys in this seeing women as property, and the alphas always fight for power. The witches aren't better, a coven of dark witches with a psychotic high priestess starts all kinds of trouble including possession. There were plenty of twists and turns with shocking revelations, deep feelings of sisterhood between Narah and her siblings, and a happy ending.
Her Dark Protector was a good read I really enjoyed Mila's dystopian twist to an omegaverse, with zombies, crazy witches, shady alphas, wild magic, and dark romance. This series is set in the same world as her Shadowland series which I will be reading soon.
