An excellent overview of various felting techniques. All the “projects” are for samples to illustrate basic techniques, which I appreciate as an absolute beginner. Very clear instructions with lots of photos. Written in a friendly and approachable way without too much “chit chat”.
It was helpful to see all the different ways people work with felt and what appealed to me and what didn’t. Now I have a better idea of what specific projects I want to learn about.
Most of this book is about wet felting (I want to learn needle felting); only two of the artists represented create work that's to my taste; only one of those artists creates projects that are feasible for me. Even though this didn't have much of the information I wanted, I'd like to have felt inspired by the contents, but it just wasn't to my taste. If you like the works of Horst Couture and Patti McAleenan, such works are representative of the styles contained and instructed here.
I'm just getting into felting, and this book proved a fantastic resource covering a wide variety of techniques. Against advice, I sat down and read the whole thing cover to cover -- and now I feel somewhat overwhelmed by all the information! I know I'll be returning to this book again and again as a valuable reference guide as I continue to experiment and learn.
