Surprisingly good!
I'll be honest - when I first opened this book I expected to have a good laugh and an opportunity to mock the author in front of my friends. That's because I've been a runner for over 10years now with all kinds of runs and races from 5k to 100k+ under my belt.
I thought to myself: what's there to write about for over 200 pages? I half expected to see one line saying "put on your shoes, put your left foot in front of the right one and keep repeating" to be printed over and over again.
My arrogance was - rightly so - severely punished. This is an excellent book and it delivers exactly what it promises: a no-nonsense guide for all those who want to get into running. Practical, concise and to the point. You really get everything you need, from gear advice (very reasonable and down-to-earth), to advice on psychology and motivation, to warming up and stretching, to preventing and fighting injuries that may occur.
It may be slightly overwhelming so the only advice I'd give to fledgeling runner readers is to read it picking the parts you find interesting at the given point of your running "career".
It's one of the best "how to" guides I've read.
Highly recommendable.
