FIVE STARS of praise to Keith Baker for his adorable words and pictures.
I love Mr. and Mrs. Green: she is so practical and he is so guileless. They are a cute couple that young readers will relate to. The gentle humor is spot-on. In this episode they consider a camping trip. She is, of course, planning every detail while he concentrates on the superfluous. Then he also realizes there may be dangers lurking in the dark. To his delight, the map Mrs. Green provides leads them all over town right to their own backyard. Bright and amusing illustrations provide extra details for attentive readers. It is a Level 2 Green Light Reader intended for second graders.
I really, really enjoyed this Mr. and Mrs. Green adventure. The two are preparing for a camping trip. They have a long, long list of things that they "need" to take. Both are excited--very excited to have an adventure. But as the adventure gets started, Mr. Green shows some signs of uneasiness. He doesn't want to camp too far away from home, it seems. Mrs. Green has just the thing!
Could easily be a Mr. and Mrs. Kahle Adventure. An aligator couple plans a camping trip; one partner is practical, the other...not so. Where do they end up? The place they are happiest.
