** Charming anecdotes, stingy with anything more substantial **
A little bit disappointed with this one, to be perfectly honest. If I had not been exposed to other books by author wouldn't be the case, but her archangel series was so impressively researched, rich in detailed knowledge and insights, chock full of information I was not acquainted with, and being no stranger to those subjects was floored time could still be illuminating and well spent. I'm pretty ignorant about the lore, nuances, minutia (e.g. all the different aspects and recognized forms, names and titles) associated with this pivotal character's mythology and history, am sure a scholar of the subject could readily introduce a wealth of enlightening facts or stories, instead this entry in virtue's body of work felt phoned in, rushed to print without the level of workmanship and craft admirers have come to expect. If you enjoy the colorful, uplifting stories (quite feasibly largely if not totally imagined) about people enlisting help from above and getting it in vivid and heartwarming fashion which you'll find in Doreen's other collections this has no shortage, indeed is essentially all it contains and can offer. I would have preferred chronicling of legends, expounding upon history and associated practices, analysis of continuing impact and honoring, how this figure is such a crucial part of contemporary spiritual traditions of our day? Still a fun read, if felt like it was missing the half of the text I came for.
